The Rise of African Consciousness!
In recent years, there has been a great awakening amongst Africans, especially the youth. Nowadays, it's not uncommon to observe African youths speaking against the West.
This is because they believe the West has impoverished Africa, through colonialism and resource looting. This, indeed contributed to the poverty in Africa.
However, we can't fold our hands and keep blaming the West for our woes.
In fact, the greater blame for the current state of Africa should go to our leaders. Without their help, the West can't loot our resources successfully. So, let us face the real enemy ( African Politicians).
Also, in the past, the West controlled the narrative, but today we can change that by leveraging technology and social interaction. The story of Africa should be told by Africans. Just as the story of the West is told by the West. We should not allow anyone to tell our history, because none who isn't us can truly tell our history unbiased as we do. Just as we can't tell the story of the West unbiased.
It's time to stop crying over a spilt coffee when we can have a better one. We can rewrite our history unbiased. Every civilization on Earth had its shortfalls. Every kingdom sought control of more territories for more resources, West and Africa alike. So, West did and is doing what is best for her people; irrespective of who was or is hurting. So, we should do what is best for Africa and her people, irrespective of who is hurting.
Where they tell our lies, we should tell our truth; not blaming them. Because if we had the opportunity they had, we may have done worse.
Most importantly, we should be united in the fight against corruption. It has laid hold on the fabrics of our continent. We must stand against corrupt African Politicians and support those who have Africans at heart.
There should be no hiding place for these wicked of us. We should not cover them under the blankets of ethnicity, religion and the like. Call out the wicked, no matter who he is.
The African Consciousness isn't a fight against the West but a fight for Africa and her people.
