Untold story Of “The Attenuation well” which Erases The Memories Of Anyone who drink from it.

It was mostly used by slave traders and planed a role in slave trade.

If you take a walk through Gberefu Island in Badagry, an ancient water well which still stands on the slave route, known as the 'Attenuation Well'. This is usually the final drink before heading into the ship.

If you take a walk through Gbefuru Island in Badagry, an ancient water well which still stands on the slave route, known as the 'Attenuation Well'. This is usually the final drink before heading into the ship.

Legend and history have it that the attenuation well has magical powers which erases the memories of people who drink from it. Therefore, African slaves were made to drink out of it. They lose the memories of home and become loyal to their masters.
It essentially takes away their consciousness and cut their psychological ties with their origin. They were easily controlled this way.

A school of thought explained that it is why it was usually difficult for them to revolt or fight the slave masters during the trip because they outnumbered the slave masters, who were usually not more than 10 or 20.

Yet, they were always inactive throughout the course of the journey.

The attenuation well used to stand without a shelter. So recently, it was roofed with thatch for preservation and a small wall was built as a border around it because children often threw stones and sticks into it.

This wall also discourages anyone from drinking from it. Even without the wall, nobody dares fetch water from the well because of the story from its past.

Guys, I will visit this place again to drink from the attenuation well. I really need to forget somethings from my head.

*The Story Of Adégbòrò L'ójà Oba*

ADÉGBÒRÒ left Ibadan for Lagos in search of greener pasture. He chose to carry loads (Aláàbárù) on his head at Oyingbo market to earn a living.

Few years after, he bought a cart from his savings and this eased the pain of carrying loads on his head for commercial purposes. The Cart also increased his income and he was able to acquire 6 more of its kind which he rented out to others.

Exactly 8 years in this cart-pushing business, Adegboro bought a van which many called BÓLÈKÁJÀ, and after learning how to drive, he handled the business by himself. 4 years into the Bolekaja business, Adegboro had been a proud owner of 6 Vans. Being a bona fide Ibadan son, (ọmọ bíbí ìlú Ìbàdàn) ADÉGBÒRÒ built a magnificent building at OJÀ OBA where the Olúbàdàn Palace was situated when it was time to put a roof on his head.

Many people at this period approached Adegboro to show them the secret behind his success. He simply asked them if they could carry loads on their heads in the market to earn income (Aláàbárù)? And their response had always been "NEVER".

He too would spontaneously say “ẸNI TÍ Ò LÈ ȘE ALÁÀBÁRÙ L'ÓYÌNGBÒ, KÒ LÈ ȘE BÍ ADÉGBÒRÒ L'ÓJÀ OBA” – this is a replica of the adage also in Yoruba land that says; “ÌȘASÙN tàbí ÌKÒKÒ TÍ YÍÓ J'ATA (OBÈ), ÌDÍ RÈ Á GBÓNÁ”. (A pot that wants to consume a palatable soup must have its bottom burnt or heated with fire first).

In Life, to endure is to achieve. No short cut is sustainable. Enduring wealth is built over time in a small bit but in a persistent way.

Lord Lugards Colonial Rest House in Lokoja

The colonial rest houses were built in 1901 by the colonial administrators as a resting place after a long days work. The building built atop Lokoja's Mount Patti served as a getaway coven for Lord Lugard and his Mistress, Flora Shaw. the building build almost 5 decades before the Nigerian Independence still stand atop the mountain, the Niger and Benue confluence could be viewed from the hill.

Patti is the Nupe word for "hill" hence the famous mountain towering about 458.3 meters or above sea or #1500 feet above sea level has come to be known as mount patti as referred to by the early European visitors.
Mounti patti have since become a popular tourist attraction.

The Gidan Rumfa (Palace of Emir Rumfa) is the oldest and most expansive traditional palace in Northern Nigeria. Located in the heart of ancient Kano city, it covers an area of about 14 hectares.

It was built by Sarkin Muhammadu Rumfa (King Muhammad Rumfa) who ruled from 1463 to 1499 during which time the Kano Emirate served as the seat of power throughout Northern Nigeria.

After the Fulani Jihad of 1805, the Laterite palace has been rebuilt several times to its modern glory while still retaining its original significance.

There are some trees that are not just trees, some trees are more than just trees. Reason being that Some trees belong to some extra terrestrial forces or should I say another form of being some trees are bigger than a whole city while some trees serve as a gateway or passway to another realm. Some powerful meetings are held under the trees. There are some trees you don't just cut anyhow in Africa. Even before cutting down some trees some certain sacrifices are made before it will be allowed to be cut.

Let me tell you a story that happened in the 80s; there was a tree cutter called ajani from ijaye, one faithful day he boasted of cutting down a particular tree, when he cut down the tree, he saw Amala and ewedu. If he had known he shouldn't have eaten from it, the rest remains history because he ran mad. Same goes to molete bridge in ibadan in the 70s, the contractors cut down an iroko tree and behold they saw clothes and other food items. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

My Question is this: Do you still think we humans are the only ones living in this world?.

Iyake Lake the second suspended lake in the world. The lake is Located ontop of the hill called Ado hill.

Ado hill simply means in Yoruba language "Oke Ado". Oke is called hill while Ado is the name of the town on the hill.

Alado was the name of the first king who rules the ado people on the hill. From every indication the Ado town was name after the first king.

The Ado Awaye town you know now is two different town entirely. The Ado people stay on the hill while the Awaye people stay on the land.

What brought about the Amalgamation of these two village was the idaomi war. Idaomi war trouble the two village not until the Ado people and the Awaye people combine together to fight the idaomi war. That was how they where victorious. From that day on, the two villages come together and form one town called the Ado Awaye. Ado Awaye is found under iseyin local government.

"But what still baffles me about this town called Ado Awaye is having of two(2) king's". What are there reasons of having separate king's?.

The Iyake lake was created by God and it's drinkable up till date. The lake does not have ending and it's very deep. Animals found inside this lake are crocodile, tortoise and eye-ega(the bird has yellow colour). About two metres away from the lake is a hole which is called Agbomofunyake. It is a foot- like formation, Anyone who put is leg inside the hole ends up in the lake.

You can also worship the lake if you wish.

Iyake lake is a great tourist site to visit. The hill is safe to climb Because it have a stair case.

Don't Buy Land Without This: The Vital Importance of a Deed of Assignment

A "Deed of Assignment" is a very important document you should have when you buy a piece of land.

It shows that the person who sold the land has given up all their rights and ownership of the land to the person who bought it.

This document is like proof that you own the land.

It's interesting that when we buy a car, we get a document showing who sold the car and how it's now ours.

But when it comes to land, which is much more valuable than cars, many people forget to ask for this important document.

So, a Deed of Assignment is an agreement between the person selling the land and the person buying it.

It says that the seller is giving up all rights to the land in favor of the buyer.

The person selling is called the "Assignor," and the person buying is called the "Assignee."

This document is super important because it shows when the ownership of the land was transferred from the seller to the buyer.

It also describes the land being sold.

Having a Deed of Assignment is like having strong evidence that you own the land and can protect you from others who might claim it's theirs.

In most cases, this deed needs to be recorded in the land registry to prove the land has changed hands.

It's like making it official so that everyone knows about it. This recorded deed can come in the form of a Governor's consent or a registered conveyance.

The Deed of Assignment also includes important details, like
● who's involved in the deal,
●the history of the land,
●the cost of the land,
●the size of the land,
●what both parties promise to do, and
●signatures of those involved.

So, it's really important to have a Deed of Assignment when buying land. Don't listen to anyone who says you only need a receipt.

They might be trying to sell your land to someone else and use the receipt to keep you from proving that the land is yours.

Always get a property lawyer to help prepare a Deed of Assignment when you buy land. It's a big mistake not to have one.

==Gbenga Adeboye: The Multi-talented Nigerian Who Actually Died Twice==

Apart from Kolawole Olawuyi one other iconic personality that lived back then was Abefe Jengbetiele, the Alaye mi Gbengulo, also known as Funwontan. He is the one and only Elijah Olugbenga Adeboye.

Born to a devout Christian family on 30th September, 1959 in Ode-Omu, Gbongan, Osun state. He attended Oranmiyan Memorial Grammar School, Ile-ife, also in Osun state.

And right from back then, he had a reputation for being the school clown - one who would always rescue himself from the teacher's strokes through his witty jokes. At home however, he was always told to keep quiet because "he talks too much"

Little did many around him know that this talkative of a child would later grow up to become a force to reckon with within the Nigerian media space.

Gbenga began his life in Lagos as an "airport boy". He worked then with the Nigerian Airport Authority as a commercial attache. He served as one to welcome foreign guests upon their arrival by displaying a placard and calling out their names from a small note pad.

According to him, his greatest dream then was to one day, be able to afford a Volkswagen beetle (Yerí n bétó). He prayed same to God and of course his Creator answered his prayers. After a couple of months working hard at his job, he eventually bought himself a beetle car.

The question becomes, what next? That was when it occured to him that he had outlived his stay on that job at the airport. He then went on to tender his resignation, without any assurance of what next he intends to transition into.

Then one day, as he tuned in to NTA 10, a station dedicated to indigenous programs back then, he noticed this presenter reciting ewì (poetry in Yoruba language). He felt the person was doing a good job but he knew he could do a much better job.

So he asked to know the location of the radio station. Before one could say Jack, few days later, he approached the management of the station and told them point black he could do a much better job. And indeed, the job became his.

That was how he started working with another promising presenter - Opeyemi Fajemilehin, who grew to become his very close associate even till death.

His media sojourn then began to take an upward swing, and the growth became steady till he became a household name.

So what was Gbenga Adeboye's career like?
What was the relationship between himself and Kola Olawuyi?
What led to the disagreement between them?
How did he manage to die twice.

Follow this story as I build on it, till you gain clarity on the intersection between Gbenga Adeboye, Kola Olawuyi, and other legends like Yinka Ayefele, Gbenga Adewusi, Ali baba and many more.

Till I come your way again, ensure not to miss out on any part of the story by following me @

Growing up, one popular radio program was themed "Iriri Aye" by a man called Kolawole Olawuyi - on OGBC radio. Fond memories if you ask me.

Among the listeners, the program is more commonly referred to as "Irinķerindo Akolawole".

I remembered different families will gather at 8pm at the frontage of our then "face me I slap you house" where I grew up. Both young and old would then surround the transistor radio of one of the richest men in the compound, to listen to what the presenter himself calls "Awon Isele Gbankogbi" - (Strange Happenings)

Stories of ghosts, fetishes, rituals, and all sorts would run straight for an hour. By the time you are done listening, sleep become difficult because imagination of all manner of sorts would have filled your mind. It then becomes very easy to suspect anything and everything as "devilish", lol.

I won't deny that some of these seeds sown actually magnified the devil and satanic works in our minds, because you end up becoming whatever you expose your mind to. That simple.

That's not to under appreciate the immense talent of this awesome presenter. His voice tones, the use of pitch, tempo and mannerisms would make you stay stuck to listening. Like heaven would come crashing if you missed just a second. Amazing talent!

The only interruptions to the show do come from adverts placed by the likes of ST soaps, Cowbell Milk, Ose Kampala, Fumman Juice etc.

I still remember almost all the lines of those adverts and can recite them from top to bottom.

Fascinating is the rich use of Yoruba language by Akolawole himself. In describing himself, he'll say,

"Won a máa ní kò kúrú, kò ga
Kò pupa, kò dúdú
Kò tínrín, kò sanra
Àmó ó fi'runmú se féèncì ètè"

(One who is neither tall nor short, neither fair nor dark in complexion, neither fat nor thin but who moustache forms a fence over his lips)

Then he'll conclude the show with:

Aa ó ma be ni
Òbe níi be'su
Àtelesè abè'nà wò
É n bá ní á má bò nìkan làwa ò ní dé bá nlé.

(It's our destiny to always live as knife's is to cut yam, and the foot soles' is to walk the roads. Whoever says we won't arrive would rather go ahead of us)

Akolawole eventually passed on in the year 2007 and though they tried retaining the show using another presenter called "Arole Kolawole Olawuyi" but if it is not original, it can never by like it.

I reminisce sometimes on some of these events and I just sigh at these old but lingering memories.

==Attached is Akolawole's picture
