A Tesla Cybertruck driver was arrested after police say he intentionally drove into a lake to test โ€œWade Mode.โ€

The incident happened at Grapevine Lake in Texas.

Police said 70-year-old Jimmy Jack McDaniel drove his Cybertruck into the water near Katieโ€™s Woods Park Boat Ramp.

According to authorities, he was reportedly trying to test the vehicleโ€™s Wade Mode feature.

But the Cybertruck became disabled and began taking on water.

The people inside had to get out, and the truck later had to be removed from the lake.

McDaniel was arrested and charged with offences including operating a vehicle in a restricted park or lake area and water-safety violations.

Teslaโ€™s Wade Mode is designed to help the vehicle move slowly through shallow water.

It does not mean the Cybertruck can be driven into a lake like a boat.

A futuristic truck.

A lake.

A feature called Wade Mode.

And one very expensive reminder that โ€œwater resistantโ€ does not mean โ€œsubmarine.โ€
