One of the things I was very scared about growing up, was selling.
It's funny because my Mom had a shop where we'd go to after school.
I'm grateful that I got my first business lessons from her.
I started business- with the level of knowledge I had at the time, and I was very scared of selling.
I thought selling was about making money.
I always focused on the money: me me me.
It was always about me and so I was very much scared each time I had to jump on the sales call or sell anything to anyone whatsoever.
This evening, while I was taking a walk, I looked back and I smiled.
I smiled because I just realized something:
For the past 2 years of my life I have been selling almost everyday.
I have been selling lots of different things or services and a lot more. But then something has changed.
Selling has become much more easier for me and I was wondering why:
I figured It's a secret that has been hidden.
it's so common that it's difficult to grasp but was captured in this quote by Zig Ziglar:
“You can have anything you want in life if you help enough people get what they want.”
I didn't understand it 5 years ago but now I do.
Now when I want to sell something to someone, I think about the person first.
I put the person first, what does this person stand to gain?
And as long as I put this person first, my mindset changed about sales.
I Began to think about how I could position myself as someone who would provide solutions to whatever problems this person was facing at the moment.
Whether I was applying for a job or a gig or trying to offer my services, it was about putting this person first.
It makes sales easier.
So, before you sell something, ask yourself: How can I show care to this person? How does my product or service help this person?
How can I ensure that this solution will be the best fit for this person?
Once you get that, sales become easier. I hope this helps you.
