Our Story

The United Farmers of Nigeria is the largest farming body united voice for Nigerian farmers and rural communities for agriculture, fighting for a strong, progressive and sustainable agricultural sector. Membership of the United Farmers of Nigeria (UFN) is voluntary. As such, our members have the utmost commitment to state-of-the-art production techniques, standards and science-based environmental management. This page was created to maintain a friendly and relevant space for farmers, stakeholders and the public to engage in constructive conversation about Nigeria’s agriculture sector. While we support debate and understand there are many differences in opinion, this page has unfortunately been used for non-constructive conversation. We value your opinions, and encourage robust discussion, however this involves genuine discussion regarding farming, its people and its practices. Offensive, abusive, derogatory, defamatory, spam (repetitive posting) or content posted that is irrelevant to this page’s purpose is breaching our terms and conditions of use. Any links to other social media or sites, repeated posts and anything that contravenes the above may be deleted, at our discretion. Users using inappropriate or offensive language or continuing to post repetitive content may be banned without notice. The UFN's aims are: • To ensure that Nigerians are provided with food and fibre of the highest quality, while maintaining affordability for consumers. • To champion the cause of Nigerian agriculture in embracing the very latest in technologies to deliver the very best products for domestic and, increasingly, international customers. • To promote the interests of Nigerian farmers and to proactively interact with members to ensure Nigerian agriculture continues to be dynamic in meeting the ever-changing needs and expectations of the Nigerian community. • To strive in achieving acceptance by governments of the major role Nigerian agriculture plays in the economic, environmental and social fabric of the nation, as well as farmers' commitment to adequate self-regulation and review - thus ensuring the highest standards across all facets of farm practice. • To adopt all measures necessary to emphasise rightful recognition of Nigerian agriculture as the 'backbone' of the nation. To achieve these aims, the UFN will: • Initiate, foster and maintain a consultative, cooperative and communicative approach to dealing with governments, other farming and farm-related organisations, media, community groups and the public. • Act as 'the' principal coordinating and peak advocacy body for Nigerian farmers and agricultural interests. • Encourage and facilitate united positions among member farm groups, as well as all other relevant bodies, to achieve consensus in the policies and issues advanced. • Recognize and promote the highest professional standards, backed by innovative farm practices, to ensure greater efficiency and competitiveness for the betterment of farming and the Nigerian community. • Stimulate greater awareness of modern farming excellence through improved communication between farmers and the Nigerian community. We hope you continue to visit the page and engage with us. Nigeria farmers Voice to Our Governments and international Communities
