Lala’s legacy not a thr£ to my career — Daughter, Olamide
Actress and filmmaker, Olamide Oladapo, has said her father’s legacy in the Nigerian film industry is an advantage rather than a threat to her career.
Olamide, the daughter of veteran actor and filmmaker, Muyideen Oladapo, popularly known as Lala, said growing up around her father gave her early exposure to acting, filmmaking and storytelling, while also providing her with valuable mentorship.
Speaking about her latest project, ‘Chidera’, she stated that it had further strengthened her professional relationship with her father, who produced and directed the movie.
She said, “He is very professional, dedicated and passionate about his craft. Working together on ‘Chidera’ was a beautiful opportunity to combine our different strengths, experiences and perspectives, especially learning from his wealth of experience as a veteran in the industry.”
Olamide stated that the project was about more than adding another movie to her filmography, describing it as an opportunity for father and daughter to create something meaningful and build a family legacy.
“For me, it was not just about making a film; it was about creating something meaningful together and building a legacy. I look forward to more opportunities to collaborate with him in the future. I love you, dad,” she added.
She explained that the movie explores themes including dreams, humanity, family, relationships and the unexpected ways people’s lives intersect.
“I want audiences to enjoy the story, laugh, reflect and also see themselves in the characters,” she said.
Although she acknowledged the advantages of being born into a filmmaking family, Olamide stressed that her father’s name had not exempted her from the hard work required to establish herself in the industry.
She said, “While it has been a privilege and a valuable foundation, I have still had to put in the work, learn, unlearn, relearn and build my own identity within the industry.
“Being someone’s daughter can open a door, but it does not define your journey or sustain your growth.”
She also credited her father with instilling in her values such as discipline, professionalism and respect for the craft.
According to her, acting was a natural part of her upbringing because of her father’s career.
Blacky set for comedy debut with ‘Another Chapter’

Comedian, content creator and entrepreneur, Blacky, is set to host his debut comedy event, Another Chapter of Blacky, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The show is scheduled to hold on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the Celebrate Centre.
According to the organisers, the event will bring together comedy lovers, entertainment enthusiasts and supporters for an evening of comedy, performances and celebration as the comedian begins a new chapter in his entertainment career.
Blacky, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Blackie’s Gadget, has built his public profile through comedy, content creation and entrepreneurship.
A statement shared with Saturday Beats added that the event would go beyond a conventional comedy show by combining entertainment with opportunities and acts of generosity for attendees.
The show marks Blacky’s official entry into hosting his own comedy event and adds another dimension to his activities across entertainment, content creation, entrepreneurship and philanthropy.
With preparations underway, the statement expressed optimism that the event would offer guests an evening of comedy, entertainment, networking and community engagement.
