Today, I watched a video of Nancy Umeh where she stated that some men insulted her husband and called him a house boy simply because he just to be a supportive husband and father.

This reminded me of so many misconceptions about marriage especially in many African homes. The truth is marriage is built on partnership. Any marriage that thrives is because both the man and woman made efforts and sacrifices to see the marriage work.

As a man, there is nothing wrong in getting engaged in domestic chores when you can. The stereotype that women have to be burdened with domestic chores, birthing babies, cooking and so on is wrong.

Being the head of the family does not mean you should not assist your wife when she is weak, tired or overburdened with work and the home front.

A real man supports his family not only financially but also physically, mentally, morally and emotionally. A good woman who gets adequate support from her husband will move mountains for him and will go the extra mile to keep the home happy.

So, if you belong to the school of thought that women should be left to only do domestic chores and the man should provide financially, do not complain or feel bad when she refuses to support the home financially too. After all, what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gender.

Thumbs up to the all the men who support their wives career, growth and still render domesticated services in the home. Na man you be!
