π¨ YOUR FAMILY HAS AN EMERGENCY BUT EVERYONE'S PHONE BATTERY IS LOW. WHO SHOULD MAKE THE CALL?
Imagine this:
Your family is dealing with an emergency.
Dadβs phone is at 8%.
Mumβs phone is at 5%.
Your teenager has 12%.
Another family member has only 3%.
You cannot afford for everyone to start calling, texting and using social media.
So what should you do?
π± 1. Choose ONE person to make the emergency call.
The person with the highest battery is not automatically the best person.
Choose someone whose phone:
Has enough battery to complete the call.
Has good network reception.
Knows your exact location.
Can clearly explain what happened.
Can stay available for a callback.
π 2. Everyone else should conserve their battery.
Turn off unnecessary apps, mobile data and Bluetooth if they aren't needed.
Avoid: β Video calls
β Social media scrolling
β Taking unnecessary photos/videos
β Multiple people calling the same emergency service
π 3. Keep one phone available for incoming calls.
Emergency responders may need to call back for your location or additional information.
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ 4. Agree before the emergency happens.
Every family should know:
Who makes the call?
Who shares the location?
Who stays with the injured/sick person?
Who keeps a phone available for callbacks?
And if the situation is life-threatening, call your local emergency service immediately rather than waiting for everyone's phones to be fully charged.
β οΈ A low battery is not just a phone problem during an emergency. It becomes a communication problem.
Discuss this with your family today before you actually need it.
