DALENE

EPISODE 20

WRITTEN BY: Etimbuk Macaulay

Marcus's anxiety was eating away at him. Two days of silence from Dalene had him on edge. He couldn't shake off the feeling that he'd been played. "Why did she take me to that temple if she wasn't going to be around?" he wondered.

He thought back to the days leading up to their temple visit. His neighbors and close friends had been trying to tell him something, but he'd brushed it off. "They were warning me," he realized now. "They saw something I didn't."

Marcus's mind was a maze of questions. Who is Dalene? Where is she from? And why did she disappear without a word? He tried calling her number again, but it was still off.

The not knowing was unbearable. Marcus needed answers. He decided to pay a visit to the temple, hoping to find some clues. As he walked towards the temple, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.

As Marcus arrived at the temple, he noticed a sense of eeriness in the air. The gates were open, but the entrance was shrouded in an unsettling silence. He stepped inside, calling out for the mysterious woman who had sent him on this wild goose chase.

The only response was the echo of his own voice off the stone walls. Marcus explored the temple, searching for any sign of Dalene or the mysterious woman. He stumbled upon the room where he'd met the woman before, but it was empty.

On the altar, a single piece of paper lay waiting for him. With trembling hands, Marcus picked it up, hoping to find some answers. The note read: "Look within." Marcus's eyes widened in frustration. "What does that even mean?" he shouted, but the temple remained silent, offering him no solace.

EPISODE 19

WRITTEN BY: Etimbuk Macaulay

Marcus's voice was hoarse from screaming Dalene's name, but she was nowhere to be seen. Just as he was starting to lose hope, the mysterious woman from the temple appeared before him, her eyes gleaming with an otherworldly intensity.

"She is waiting for you at your house, Go, Go, Go," she repeated, her voice growing more urgent with each repetition. With that, she vanished into thin air, leaving Marcus stunned and confused.

With a mix of trepidation and anticipation, Marcus set off towards his house, wondering what lay ahead. What was Dalene doing at his house? And why was the mysterious woman so cryptic? As he walked, his mind racing with questions, he couldn't shake off the feeling that his life was about to change forever.

I understand you're creating a story and I'd be happy to help you continue it.

Marcus's frustration boiled over as he shouted, "Where the f**k are you Dalene, I need answers!" The silence in his apartment seemed oppressive, and the empty rooms seemed to mock him. He tried calling her number again, but it was still switched off.

Panic began to set in as he thought about what could have happened to Dalene. Had she been taken away by the mysterious forces that seemed to be at play? Or had she deliberately disappeared, leaving him with more questions than answers?

Marcus's mind was racing with possibilities, but he knew he had to calm down and think clearly. He decided to check his apartment again, this time more thoroughly, to see if he had missed anything that could give him a clue about Dalene's whereabouts. As he searched, he noticed a piece of paper on the floor, partially hidden under the couch. He picked it up, and his heart skipped a beat as he saw a message scrawled on it.

EPISODE 18

WRITTEN BY: Etimbuk Macaulay

Marcus's heart skipped a beat as he stared at Dalene, her words and demeanor sending a shiver down his spine. The soft-spoken woman he thought he knew seemed to have transformed into a mystical guide, her eyes gleaming with an otherworldly intensity.

"Go in," she repeated, her voice firm but gentle. "The Mother Goddess is waiting to see you. Remember, you can't make it in life if you don't keep to the rules of life. So, make sure you do as you're instructed. Go now."

Marcus felt a lump form in his throat as he hesitated, his mind racing with questions. What rules was Dalene talking about? What lay ahead? But he knew he couldn't turn back now. Taking a deep breath, he steeled himself and stepped forward, the heavy curtains parting to reveal a dimly lit chamber within.

As he entered, the curtains closed behind him, enveloping him in an eerie silence. The air was thick with the scent of incense, and the flickering candles cast eerie shadows on the walls. Marcus's heart pounded in his chest as he called out, "Hello? Is anyone here?" The only response was the soft whisper of the wind, carrying the faint scent of jasmine and sandalwood.

As Marcus continued to call out, a woman emerged from the shadows, her presence commanding attention. She sat on a throne-like seat, her long, dark hair cascading down her back like a waterfall. Her eyes sparkled with amusement as she laughed three times, the sound echoing through the chamber.

"Welcome to the secret altar, Marcus," she said, her voice melodious and soothing. "Stretch your hands and wash them in the pot before you."

Marcus's gaze followed her gaze to a mould pot filled with water, adorned with intricate symbols and markings. He hesitated, his mind racing with questions. What was the significance of this ritual? But something about the woman's calm demeanor put him at ease. He decided to trust the process and stretched out his hands, feeling the cool water envelop them. As he washed his hands, he felt a sudden surge of energy, as if the water was cleansing more than just his physical hands.

EPISODE 17

WRITTEN BY: Etimbuk Macaulay

Marcus's eyes widened in surprise as he turned to face Dalene, wondering how long she'd been standing there. He hadn't even noticed her approach. "My destiny is in my hands, how?" he asked, curiosity piqued.

Dalene smiled softly, taking a seat beside him. "You have the power to choose, to decide, and to act. Your choices, your decisions, and your actions determine the course of your life. You can't control everything that happens to you, but you can control how you respond to it."

Marcus thought about this for a moment, considering Dalene's words. He'd always felt like life was happening to him, rather than him being in the driver's seat. "But what about Dave?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. "He was supposed to help me, and now he's gone."

Dalene's expression turned somber. "Life is unpredictable, and sometimes things don't go as planned. But that doesn't mean you give up. You find a way to move forward, to adapt, and to make new plans."

The next day, Dalene led Marcus into the deep forest, the sunlight filtering through the dense canopy above. Marcus's curiosity had given way to apprehension as he followed Dalene, his senses on high alert. "Where are we going?" he asked again, his voice laced with skepticism.

Dalene smiled, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "You trust me, don't you?" she asked, her voice gentle.

Marcus hesitated, but his trust in Dalene won out. "Yes, I trust you," he said, his voice firm.

As they walked deeper into the forest, the trees grew taller, and the underbrush thicker. Marcus heard the sounds of wild animals, and his heart skipped a beat. But with Dalene by his side, he felt a sense of calm.

Suddenly, the trees parted, and a massive stone structure loomed before them. Marcus's eyes widened as he took in the intricate carvings and symbols etched into the stone.

"Welcome to the secret temple," Dalene said, her voice barely above a whisper. "This is a place of ancient wisdom and power."

Marcus's heart was racing as he followed Dalene into the temple, the air thick with the scent of incense and something else... something mysterious.

CHAPTER 16

WRITTEN BY: Etimbuk Macaulay

Few hours later, Dalene is here to see Marcus. She knocks on the door twice, but no response. She's about knocking the third time as she realizes the door is slightly open. She goes in and meets Marcus on the bed not sleeping. Dalene asks, "How did it go?", but Marcus refuses to say anything. Dalene's voice was soft and gentle as she approached Marcus, her eyes filled with concern. "Come on, babe, talk to me," she coaxed, sitting beside him on the bed. Marcus's expression was blank, his eyes red-rimmed from unshed tears.

When he finally spoke, his voice was barely above a whisper. "Dave is dead. I found out when I got to his residence today." Dalene's eyes widened in shock, and she reached out to wrap her arms around him. "I'm so sorry about that," she whispered, holding him tight.

As she pulled back, she asked gently, "But what happened to him?" Marcus's gaze drifted away, his eyes clouding over. "I don't know," he admitted, his voice cracking. "The gateman just told me he passed away yesterday. I didn't get to ask any questions."

Dalene nodded, her expression sympathetic. "We'll find out what happened," she promised, taking Marcus's hand in hers. "We'll get through this together."

Marcus nodded slightly, feeling a small sense of comfort with Dalene by his side. He was grateful for her presence, her support. The silence between them was palpable, punctuated only by the sound of Marcus's quiet sniffles.

After a few moments, Dalene spoke up, her voice soft and gentle. "Do you want to talk about what happened when you got to his place?" Marcus hesitated, then nodded, and began to recount his conversation with Uzor, the gateman.

As he spoke, the emotions he'd been holding back began to surface. His voice cracked, and tears pricked at the corners of his eyes. Dalene listened attentively, her expression sympathetic, offering words of comfort when Marcus needed them.

The two sat in silence for a while longer, hands clasped, each lost in their thoughts about Dave and the sudden loss.

EPISODE 15

WRITTEN BY: Etimbuk Macaulay

Marcus stood before Dave's residence, the quiet surroundings a stark contrast to the turmoil brewing inside him. He had been trying to reach Dave for two days, and his concern was palpable. With a deep breath, he knocked on the gate. A few seconds later, the gate creaked open, and a middle-aged man with a weary expression peered out. "Hello, young man. Who are you looking for?" he asked, his tone neutral.

Marcus explained the situation, "I'm looking for Dave. We're friends. I've been trying to reach him, but he hasn't been responding to my calls." The gateman's demeanor changed, and he looked at Marcus with a mix of regret and pain. In a low, somber tone, he said, "I'm sorry, sir. My boss, Mr. Dave... he passed away yesterday."

The words hung in the air like a challenge, refusing to sink in. Marcus felt like he'd been punched in the gut, his breath caught in his throat. "What?" he stammered, his mind reeling in shock. Dave, his friend, was gone? It couldn't be. He must have misheard. "No... no, that can't be," Marcus muttered, his vision blurring. Uzor's expression softened further, and he nodded slowly, confirming the devastating news. Marcus's world came crashing down, and he felt himself slipping into a dark abyss.

Marcus stood frozen, his mind reeling from the gateman's words. "My boss, Mr. Dave... he passed away yesterday." The words echoed in his mind, refusing to sink in. Dave, his friend, was gone? It couldn't be. He must have misheard.

Uzor, the gateman, watched Marcus's reaction with a mix of sympathy and caution. "I'm sorry, sir. I know you were friends." Marcus nodded slowly, trying to process the news. He felt like he'd been punched in the gut, his breath knocked out of him.

Without a word, Marcus turned and walked away, leaving Uzor standing at the gate. He didn't know where he was going or what he was doing. He just knew he needed to get away from the gate, away from the painful reality.

As he walked, the world around him blurred. He thought about all the times he'd tried to reach Dave, all the unanswered calls. Why hadn't Dave told him something was wrong? Why had he kept it a secret?

Marcus eventually found himself back at his place, his mind numb. He didn't remember the journey back. He collapsed onto his bed, his eyes fixed on the ceiling as tears began to fall. Dave was gone. His friend, his confidant, was really gone ¹.

EPISODE 14

WRITTEN BY: Etimbuk Macaulay

Marcus's anxiety grew with each unanswered call. He had tried reaching Dave all day, but there was only silence. As the sun began to set, he decided to confide in Dalene, hoping she might know what to do. "Hey, I've been trying to reach Dave all day, but he's not responding," Marcus said, his voice laced with worry.

Dalene's expression turned thoughtful. "Do you know where he stays or lives?" she asked. Marcus nodded. "Yeah, he gave me his address, but I haven't been there yet." Dalene's eyes seemed to bore into his, her gaze intense. "Maybe you should visit him. But like I said, stay away from his money. It's not clean."

Marcus's eyes locked onto Dalene's, his mind racing with questions. What did she mean by "not clean"? What secrets was Dave hiding? He looked at Dalene without saying a word, his silence speaking volumes. The tension between them was palpable, and Marcus couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off.

Marcus's gaze lingered on Dalene's face, searching for answers. He felt a shiver run down his spine as he processed her words. "Stay away from his money" echoed in his mind, and he wondered what kind of trouble Dave might be involved in. Without a word, Marcus nodded slowly, his mind made up. He would visit Dave and get to the bottom of things.

Dalene's expression softened slightly, as if she knew exactly what Marcus was thinking. "Be careful," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Marcus nodded again, a silent understanding passing between them. He would be cautious, and he would uncover the truth. With a determined look, Marcus turned to leave, ready to face whatever lay ahead.

Dalene's laughter faded as she asked Marcus about his outing with Dave. "So, how was your day with your friend?" Marcus's face lit up with excitement. "It was great! Dave asked me to bring my CV to him, he might have a job opportunity for me." But before Marcus could finish, Dalene's expression turned serious, and she interrupted him. "Don't go. His hands aren't clean. He wants to initiate you into his occultist group."

Marcus's smile faltered, and he stared at Dalene in surprise. "What are you talking about? I've known him for a decade now." Dalene's words hung in the air, and Marcus felt a shiver run down his spine. He was taken aback by her seriousness and the implication. Marcus's excitement about the potential job opportunity began to fade, replaced by a sense of unease and doubt. He fell silent, his mind racing with questions and uncertainties.

Marcus's mind was a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. He had known Dave for a decade, and the thought of his friend being involved in something sinister seemed unfathomable. Yet, Dalene's words had planted a seed of doubt. He looked at her, searching for answers. "What makes you think that about Dave?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Dalene's expression remained serious, her eyes locked on Marcus. "I just know," she said, her voice firm but cryptic. Marcus's silence was palpable, and the air was thick with unspoken questions. He wasn't sure what to believe, but a part of him wondered if Dalene's warning was something he should take seriously.
