Lynn Garrison.

He was a Biafran War Heroic Pilot who flew most of the toughest missions to neutralize the FG's airforce. The Canadian mercenary was known for his often repeated comment, "If it has fuel and noise, I can fly it to save Biafrans."

The 84yr-old retired Combat Pilot was of great help to the Biafrans during the war.

His most remarkable success was that of Aug 20, 1967 where he singlehandedly crushed the Kano airfield, destroying three Mig-17s, killing everyone on board.

WHY DOUBTS IN TRUTH?
Truth is the conformity to fact or reality. It's the conformity to rule, standard, model, pattern,or ideal. It's faithfulness to the facts of nature, history or life.
Truth when said shouldn't provoke doubts on its own but for the fact that this truth has been slaughtered on the altar of falsehood, made it a point of an endless scepticism and compelling many people to dispute truth as unattainable reality especially in this country. Betrayal of trust has descended in all walks of life and entrenches scepticism as the only ground for survival or the vehicle to get to the ultimate veritas. The society has gone down due to mistrust and most times conceived and realized even before going into bargaining. This attitude which the government of our time applies these days as an official arsenal to hocus-pocusly, callously, and racketly deal with us and ravish our economy. This has built a strong bridge that so many right thinking Members of this society have resigned to fate that whatever they see in this country any time, any day they embrace it. This mutual suspicion across board is evidence of acatalectic failure to uphold and build on the positive cultural values of our people. Everything in this country is politics, if you are not politically connected or allied with, you have nothing to gain from this country no matter how highly qualify you are for what you are seeking for. The time when people are considered for merits and accorded some accolades on the same basis is turning mirageous histories and point of inexorable reality. Why are our positive values battled dead? There can be a way forward if our positive cultural values are sincerely entrenched into our mystical minds and guided jealously to reflect the art of glory that remains the only one way possible of speaking the truth and repositioning our dear society. It's worriesome and regrettable that truth has flew away from us and our society has resolved to nurture the inverse because it's profitable to the beasts. It's a deliberate attempt to install or enthrone and market falsehood as a core societal standard or value / measuring apparatus of who fits in or out of the enclave.

Justice Oputa of the blessed memory said, " Nothing will happen in our nation, in our society which didn't first happen in our minds. If wrong is rampant, if indiscipline is rife,if corruption is the order of the day, we have to search our individual minds for that is where it all starts..."
Gen. Ojukwu added that "... Nigeria is crippled by four fears: fear of change, fear of truth, fear of unity and fear of man... the second explains our inability to accommodate criticism both at home and abroad...the fourth explains the amorphous and all pervasive sycophancy that chokes every incipient leadership in our body politic."

So, the greatest fear for me is not really to say the truth but the consequence because it's overbearing. This truth is blunt and stand the opposite of our cherished values. It lets the cat out of the bag and present issues as they appear. Truth breeds friction as not everyone nods to its arrival and the truth bearers hang and sword with the sharpness of falsehood. Therefore, the unfortunate thing is that "if the truth hurts most of us so badly that we don't want it told, it hurts even more grievously those who dare to tell it. It's a two-edged sword often deadly dangerous to the user" Justice Ben Lindsey.

However, if you shut up truth and bury it under the ground, it will but grow, and gather to itself such explosive power that the day it bursts through, it will blow up everything in its way. And this explains to every truth killer that truth is immortal and infallible and the earliest we embrace it the better and safer for us all.

According to an extract from Captain Orsig by Edwin Arlington Robinson explains thus:
We know the truth has been
Told over to the world a thousand times;
For more than fragments of it we have heard
A murmur now and then, an echo here
And there.

The effect of this is that we are on an unyielding dialogue with the deaf. As soon as one gets into position of trust, he turns too arrogant and arrogates all powers to himself, that to listen to the truth takes a great deal and if leant ears those who propagate the truth become victims of argumentum ad bacculum emanating from animus sovereign which negates all argument of right reasonings and justifications. An evidence that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.---- Acton.

We have been unfairly treated in this country, blessed with huge human and material resources. We found ourselves in this pitiful state because truth is not the leading principle. We are slaves in our land today because truth has been subverted and falsehood reigns supreme. The worry is that it has turned counter productive because nobody believes or takes serious what comes from the hegemonistic command of our dear state because the leaders find it difficult to put straight issues to us from the abinitio.

Today, Madagascar, Senegal, South Africa, leading our continent in science and technology. Where comes the giant of Africa? A country with no confidence in her researchers and medical practitioners, just to keep us backward imported Chinese doctors. What a shame to the acclaimed African giant?People joke over the reality of COVID-19 pandemic because of the attitude of our leaders. Nobody knows when they are saying the truth because of the beautiful eyes of our money--box and they're greedy dogs which can never have enough. This pandemic claimed the lives of over 200, 000 people in the world and Nigeria with death record of 98 as at today but doubt enough is still generated amongst Nigerians as to the reality of this dreadful virus. You can imagine the dangers this insincerity of the leaders imposes on our lives. When do we begin to have confidence in the leadership of this country? What should be the approach towards cleaning up our subconsciousness the incurred mistrust? What are the ways towards reconciling the led and the leaders?

It's now that we put this nation first (us) and I on the second consideration.
For us to rebuild firm confidence on the leadership of this country, we shall all take it as a marching order to be truthful and transparent in dealing with one another. And leadership should be a thing of all as obtains in a true democratic society not of a few that reflect only the interests and opinions of the privileged few.

On the second issue, only the results-oriented biddings can fill the depth and heal the wounds of mistrust or better still mutual mistrust which is the bane to our national progress and greatness.

The defence of the truth is far and over reaching on the bearers or advocates. This defence caused the lone voice of the wilderness had his head in the palm of Tetrarchic-Herodian Princess.
Martin Luther King dropped dead at Washington DC in 1963 in the defence of the truth; and Mahatma Ghandhi of India was put away because he stood for the truth;
Nelson Mandela of South Africa denied his comforts and incarcerated for decades because he spoke against evils; for injustice to one is injustice to all and to no one shall justice be denied captured as justicia nemini negenda est.
Prof. Wole Soyinka incarcerated and expatriated because he said the people's will should be made sacrosanct.
A legal erudite Gani Fawehinmi imprisoned because he advocated for an egalitarian society;
Dele Giwa destroyed by Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida military Junta because he was an advocate of positive changes;
Rev. Fr. John Odeh humiliated, relegated to the background and compulsorily transferred from the metropolis because he was against the inordinate attitudes of a political order and many more of the Apostles of the truth who suffered and still suffering different degrees of pains and isolated lives.

Defending the truth is a journey to the calvary. It's not palatable and of course not convenience. It takes only the strong minds to profess the truth in the face of adversities. Peter could not hold on because the pressure and fear of death was steering on his face. It's only in De Sancti Spiritus that we can be made strong, fearless to defend the truth coupled with the fact that it works better and easier if it's the path of one's destiny.
We doff our caps in the honour of those who have paid and still paying the price to establish the realities of today even though still with the same thorns that they fought or fighting against. They still remain in our minds the beacons of hope to the oppressed and thorns in the fleshes of bumbling authorities.

Finally, it's possible that the led and leaders can dine on the same table without scrimmage only with understanding that one thing bound them together which is leadership. Leadership emanates from the led to the leader (s) and where no led no leadership. This agrees with the Latin legalis Maxim that sovereignta la' tact de popo which the leaders most times undermined leading to political cm economic squabbles and quagmires. When this understanding is rooted, mutual suspicion will be eroded naturally and Nigeria will become habitable for all; because only in truth our emancipation lies and the truth co-ordinates all virtues and in truth breeds all goodness as love, integrity, justice, discipline, unity and their kinds. As such any effort directed towards breaching the free flow of truth among the people will become the greatest setback we will be bound to suffer. Therefore, nurture, grow and propagate the truth heavens will not fall rather stand in defence of the very lone voice in the wilderness.

Long live Ebonyi State!!!
Stay safe!!

Nigeria former military dictator loot recovered newly again on 5th May, 2022.

For some part of Nigeria Abacha is an edible product who serves Nigeria citizens when need be, but for some people he was a tyrant, brutish and a man who enjoy fle$h.

However, for people mostly in the north he is an icon of peace stability and a source of fund to Nigeria who is an astute investor, who invested and save for the country. It's the dividend that Nigeria still enjoys.

UMAHI ORDERS PROSECUTION OF NEW TELEGRAPH COLUMNIST, DISSOLVES HIS MEDIA TEAM

* HURIDE wants PMB, IGP, NHRC and rights groups to call Umahi to order and rise for Monday Eze.

By Iyke Idam

The embattled governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi, on Thursday, 21st April 2022, ordered the prosecution of his former media aide who is now a columnist with New Telegraph Newspapers, Monday Eze. Governor Umahi handed the order in a pre-banquet media briefing he held in the new Government House, Abakaliki on his return from his trip to Turkey. Even though Umahi did not mention any offence committed by his former aide, the governor in a prelude to the prosecution order complained about an article published by the columnist on the lingering detention of a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki, Rev. Fr. Timothy Ngwuta, in Abakaliki prisons. The video clip of the prosecution order is circulating on social media platforms. Governor Umahi equally dissolved his media team for being "reactive" and for their inability to reply his former aide.

In the video clip, the Ebonyi State governor who was visibly unsettled by his former aide's publication entitled, "Timothy Ngwuta: The Universal Church of Christ Is In Ebonyi Prisons" said among other things: "My so-called media team, they are just being reactive. If something is in the social media, why should people be sending texts to me to say this thing. Because if I have media (team), they will be reacting to it and those people who send things to me will be seeing it. But they (media team) are just doing the job within my WhatsApp (platform) and that is why I dissolved all my media people. And I will constitute another one.

"And the Monday Eze must be taken to court. He must be charged to court immediately", Governor Umahi concluded, hitting his fist on his table to convey the seriousness and urgency of his order.

In his reaction, Mr. Monday Eze who had, "pursuant to the dictates of (his) conscience", voluntarily resigned from Umahi's government on April 6, 2021, expressed fears for his life and limb and explained that he has not committed any crime. According to him: "I have not committed any crime to warrant any prosecution. Rev. Fr. Ngwuta's arrest, toture and imprisonment without trial is an open and verifiable fact within public knowledge. Above all, the statement of the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki on the matter, the comments of the governor and the Attorney-general of Ebonyi State on the matter all corroborated the contents of my essay. Expression of factual opinion on matters of public interest and request for release of an innocent detainee has not been criminalized in Nigeria.

"By the executive order for my prosecution, Umahi has assumed the role of both the accuser, prosecutor and judge in his own matter. Given the antecedents of Governor Umahi who had banned two Ebonyi journalists, Chijioke Agwu and Vincent Okutu, for life and under whose watch the PDP Publicity Secretary in Ebonyi State, Chika Nwoba, was subjected to extra-judicial tortures and life-threatening ordeals, I am afraid for my life, limbs and my family. I am aware that the agents of the state will stop at nothing to ensure that I am docked and sent to custodial centre for committing no offence. I call on the security agents and the courts to resist the temptation or offer of being used to hunt for me or maliciously prosecute or incarcerate me. I call on human rights activists and organizations all over the world and well-meaning citizens of Nigeria to intervene and call Governor Umahi to order ".

In a press release, a rights group, Human Rights Defenders, HURIDE, Ebonyi State has condemned Gov. Umahi's growing intolerance to free speech in Ebonyi State, calling on the Ebonyi governor to rescind threatening the freedom of Mr. Eze. The press statement signed by Comrade Sampson Oko Nweke (State Chairman) and Barr. Prayer Oko (State Secretary), HURIDE urged President Buhari and the Inspector General of Police to call Governor Umahi to order. HURIDE equally wants all rights group to rally support for Monday Eze whose rights are being threatened by Umahi for no justifiable reason.

The former Senior Technical Assistant on Media to Governor Umahi who voluntarily resigned from Umahi's government last year wondered what is unsettling the governor over the essay he published in his column, Hammer and Anvil with Monday Eze, in New Telegraph Newspaper of April 15, 2022.

Gov Umahi Pardons 31 Underage Fighters Fingered In Murder Of 8 Persons, Arson
By Journalist101 - April 5, 2022 0

Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi
The Ebonyi government says it has pardoned and will release 31 under-aged detainees at the correctional service remand home over their alleged involvement in the fratricidal Ezza/ Ezza-Effium conflict.

Governor David Umahi disclosed this in Abakaliki while swearing in a new judge of the Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Paul Awada.

Mr Umahi added that the State Executive Council deliberated on the issue and decided to pardon the detainees as normalcy had returned to the area.

“These underaged detainees were recruited by stakeholders of the area and armed with sophisticated weapons such as AK-47 rifles. I did not hesitate to order for their detention in January but they have shown good conduct since then,” he said.

The governor also explained that Mr Awada’s swearing-in was delayed because he hailed from the community, which had lost several indigenes and property due to the conflict.

“We would be attracting God’s wrath if he was sworn in then but can do so now as normalcy has returned to the area. The two protagonists whose interests sparked the war – the local government area chairman and the house of assembly member representing the area, have also been granted bail,” he said.

Deputy Governor Kelechi Igwe had earlier led some top government officials to visit the detainees at the remand home, Abakaliki.

Mr Igwe, while speaking to the detainees, commended them for their good conduct during their stay at home and admonished them to shun acts that led to their incarceration.

“The government will liaise with your parents to evolve ways of properly re-integrating you into the society to be useful,” he said.

He also promised to make a case for other inmates of the home incarcerated over other offences such as defilement.

“We would, however, meet with your parents and those of the victims of the defilement to assuage their anger and pain,” he explained.

One of the detainees (names withheld) begged the deputy governor for forgiveness and pledged to turn a new leaf.

However, their pardon is generating mixed reaction as the people of Ezza are questioning the rational for their pardon when they were responsible for the murder of 8 persons and torching several houses when they attacked Ebeta, an Ezaa village in Effium with AK 47 rifles, pump actions, axes and cutlasses.

A community source told JOURNALIST101 that contrary to the claim by the Governor that he ordered for their arrest, it was the military that arrested the underage fighters and handed them over to the Police

If I have not addressed you as “Your Worship, Judge Binta Nyako”, it’s because you’ve not been sounding like a Judge lately.

I mean, how would a Judge decree that Igbo national dress should not be worn in her court, a court built and maintained with Igbo money in part?

I have never heard anything as ridiculous, and I ask myself how the wife of Admiral Murtala Nyako (Rtd), the man who, when he was Navy Commander, brought a message for me from my family in England in 1979 and I went to Tamandu Barracks, Lagos to pick it up, could utter such extremely provocative words.

I don’t know if you were born by 1979 since when I have considered myself a friend of your husband.

I don’t know if you were in your Yola residence when I visited with General Muhammadu Buhari and others on campaign tour in 2003.

But Ndigbo expect an apology from you for your gratuitous insult & disrespect to all Igbo – a thing that no Judge should do. Else, we’ll report you to your oga.

In Nigeria, a catholic priest has been "suspended" for banning Igbo songs and choruses in his parish.

According to the local Peoples Gazette, Rev. Fr. James Anelu of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ewu-Owa Gberigbe in Ikorodu, Lagos, he aggressively stopped a soul-lifting chorus during a church mass. He claimed that Igbos could not keep dominating other people even in his parish. Consequently, the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos directed the priest to proceed on "an indefinite leave of absence" till further notice. What do you make of this incident?

IGBO’S INDEPENDENCE.
The First Man to Propose a Modern Independent Nation of Igbos in 1865.

Do you know that an Igbo man planned and proposed a modernised self-governed Nation/Empire/Republic of Igbos 39 years before the birth of Nigeria as a country? His name is JAMES AFRICANUS BEALE HORTON (1835–1883).

He published and sent the British government his proposal titled, “The EMPIRE OF THE EBOES/HACKBOUS/HEEBOS/IBOES/IGBOES/EGBOES, with the Requirements Necessary for Establishing that Self Government Recommended by the Committee of the House of Commons, 1865: and a Vindication of the African Race.”
This proposal included a plan for
· A Self-governed independent nation
· an army,
· currency
· Support for modern civilisation and economic empowerment.

His proposal was hinged on his research showing that the Igbo race was the most emulative, intelligent and adaptive "race" in West Africa, and with modern support, they will vindicate the black race.

He also supported the hypothetical but controversial Jewish migration origin of the Igbos at that time.
Horton was born in the then British colonial Sierra Leone, near Freetown.

His parents were former recaptive Igbo slaves. Horton lived in Gloucester until 1847 when he moved to Freetown to attend the local Church Missionary Society School (CMS).
In 1853 he was moved to Freetown’s Fourah Bay Institution to train for a ministry in the Church of England.
His seminary studies ended two years later when the CMS selected him to study medicine in preparation for a medical career in the British army. Horton attended Kings College in London for three years and then Edinburgh University for a fourth year to earn an MD.
In 1859 Horton was commissioned back to West Africa as a staff-assistant surgeon in the British army. His works led him to correlate topography and human health, developing theories that eventually would earn him a reputation in the medical world and a promotion to the army rank of surgeon-major.

Horton became more concerned with politics during his military service in West Africa. Horton refutes the derogatory racial theories about Africans rife in Victorian Britain and its empire.
However, Horton also consider himself, a loyal subject of the British establishment and envisioned that Britain should have a strong cultural and technological influence in the development of Africa.

Thus his philosophies, radical when colonial powers were dominant, have acted as a basis for the future advancement of African independence and nationalist ideologies.

At 45, Horton retired and returned to Freetown, where he continued to promote African education as the key to self-governance, and he further provided scholarships to hopeful young Africans.
He also took a keen interest in Africa's technical and economic development and Opened a bank called the Commercial Bank of West Africa.

His business and gold mining exploits made him one of the richest men in Africa by 1880.
Although his dream of an independent Self-governed Igbo nation was not realised in his lifetime, his political thoughts birthed the African political thoughts during the colonisation of Africa after his death.
James Africanus Beale Horton died in Freetown, Sierra Leone, in 1883.
