20 Random Educational Career Tips
1) Do Master in Social Work instead of Public Health.
2) At entry level positions, Occupational Health and Safety has more jobs than Project Management.
3) Starting a career in healthcare in the US, opt for Patient Care Technician over Medical Assistant roles.
4) Go for Master in Information Technology instead of Health Informatics.
5) Get Bachelor’s in Radiography instead of Anatomy.
6) MBA is NOT advisable if you don’t have relevant work experience. Get MBA because you need it to strengthen your career, not for entry-level job.
7) Bachelor’s in Economics opens more doors of opportunities than Bachelor’s in Political Science.
8/ Doctorate of Accounting is different from PhD in Accounting.
9) Dental Hygienist earns way more than Dental Assistant.
10) In the US, about 65% of licensed real estate agents didn’t sell any property in the whole year of 2024. It’s not as easy and sweet as the successful ones make it.
11) If possible, take Science in WAEC and Arts in NECO.
12) As a mechanical engineering student, pick one/two machines and learn it as if you’re a technician. Power plant, heating and cooling systems, automotive repair, diesel engines mechanics, aviation mechanics, welding and fabrication, smithing, robotics or whatever. Don’t be fooled by As in maths and physics. Practice!
13) Except you have a solid career in healthcare, getting a Master in Healthcare Administration will do no much good.
14) A poor man paying £14,000 for a one-year course-based Master in International Business Management in the UK… is a joke.
15) On average, an Optometrist earns less than a Nurse Practitioner.
16) STEM will improve your chances of getting visa. There are more scholarships for sciences than arts.
17) You wanna help sick people but don’t want to interact with their pains? Study Pharmacy.
18) Don’t get into “self-development porn” where you keep getting certificates and trainings you don’t really need just because they make you feel special.
19) Master in Biotechnology > Master in Biology.
20) Education is incomplete with knowing the fundamentals of philosophy, psychology, history, economics and general sciences. Don’t confuse education with schooling.
