ACCOUNTRESS JARA FRIENDSHIP & LEGACY
In the Comradic ecosystem, Accountresses and Akantants occupy a unique and important space as custodians and preservers of our heritage. Through their interactions with succeeding generations in Comradium , many of them become more than suppliers of palmwine, they become real mothers, father, confidants, mentors and some of the strongest pillars of our Club.
Yet arguably, this important demography within the Comradium appears to be among the least recognised and appreciated. In the light of this, we at Ijaiye Fellowsis Convergence, affiliated to Ilya Du Pen, in concert with Comradium Rdefined, have taken it upon ourselves to serve as facilitators within the larger Comradium and champion the cause of celebrating these remarkable women and men annually, going forward.
Our experience and relationships with Accountresses and Akantants have shown us, time and again, what it truly means to have a Comradic mother.
We are therefore making ourselves available to the Comradium to celebrate those who supply the palmwine, because their role goes far beyond palmwine.
They nurture.
They support.
They advise.
They encourage.
They preserve our culture.
Many have supported the Club in diverse ways - financially, morally, culturally and otherwise - and have continued to provide the warmth, care and guidance that make the Comradium feel like a family.
ACCOUNTRESS JARA @ 10
We are kick-starting this celebration of this often-underappreciated demography with the 10th Memorial Celebration of our late Accountress Jara.
Those who encountered her, including many of us who had the privilege of knowing her during her lifetime, can testify to the fact that she was widely regarded as a model of what an Accountress could and should be.
Ten years may have passed, but the memories remain fresh.
The maiden Accountress Jara, coinciding with the 10th Memorial of our late Accountress, is therefore more than a remembrance. It is a celebration of life, friendship, fellowship, culture and legacy, and the beginning of a wider conversation about recognising the women and men who have quietly sustained the Comradium over the years.
On Saturday, 14 November 2026, family, friends, associates, members of the Kegites community and well-wishers will come together to celebrate her life and the values she represented.
The event is promoted by Ijaiye Fellowsis Convergence, which has maintained a strong presence in Ijaiye-Ojokoro, Lagos State, for three decades, in collaboration with Comradium Redefined.
Expect an evening of memories, music, gyration, cultural expression, friendship, networking and celebration, with a special focus on sustaining a legacy that continues to touch lives.
