These are some of the Canadian schools offering refunds for Visa or Study Permit denial. Some of the policies have additional conditions and time limits.

Trent University (Ontario)
Royal Roads University (British Columbia)
Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC)
St. Lawrence College (Ontario)
Cape Breton University (Nova Scotia)
University Canada West (UCW), British Columbia
Conestoga College (Ontario)
North Island College (B.C.)

When you check a school’s visa-denial refund policy, keep an eye on:

📍Documentation required, e.g. an official visa refusal letter from IRCC, sometimes in original paper form, or with headers.
📍Timing: Request submitted within certain period (before term start, or by an add/drop deadline, or within X days of visa refusal).
📍Enrollment status: Some policies only apply if you haven’t started courses or haven’t enrolled yet. If you’ve begun courses, the refund may be limited or not apply.
📍Fees deducted: Processing fees, administrative or “non-refundable” amounts may still be deducted.
📍Conditions on the denial,e.g. visa denied not due to misrepresentation, or within certain date range relative to program start.
📍Type of payment refundable, deposit vs full tuition vs just initial fees vs ancillary fees.

Yes! Someone who is not related to you can sponsor your study abroad, as long as they can legally and credibly show that they are willing and financially able to do so.

This is how it works:

📍Your sponsor can be:
• A family friend, mentor, or community member.
• A business owner or employer who believes in your potential.
• A religious or nonprofit organization.
• A private individual who simply wishes to help.

📍To convince the visa or admissions officers, the sponsor must:
1. Provide a sponsorship letter stating their relationship with you, why they’re sponsoring you, and that they have no expectation of repayment.
2. Show proof of financial capacity, e.g., bank statements, employment letter, tax records, or business registration.
3. Demonstrate consistency, the explanation must make sense (e.g., if the sponsor barely knows you, they should explain the reason for their generosity).
4. Provide ID or legal status documents (passport, residence permit, etc.).

Visa officers look for credibility. If the sponsorship seems unusual (e.g., a non-relative offering to pay tens of thousands with no clear connection), it might raise questions.

📍You can reduce this risk by:
• Including evidence of the relationship (photos, messages, community ties, etc.).
• Ensuring all financial documents are authentic and verifiable.
• Possibly showing partial self-sponsorship to demonstrate shared responsibility.

Did You Know?

If you’re in Canada, whether on a study permit, work permit, or even visitor status, you can, in many cases, apply for a U.S. non-immigrant visa (like a tourist visa) right from Canada.

According to the U.S. Department of State,

“Applicants present in Canada or Mexico who wish to apply for a nonimmigrant visa must make an appointment for an interview.”

So yes! You don’t always have to travel back home to apply. Just be sure to check the requirements at your nearest U.S. Consulate in Canada before booking your appointment.

Know the difference between J-1 vs F-1 Visas before you apply.

Both let you study or gain experience in the U.S., but they’re not the same thing.

Quick breakdown: 👇

F-1 Visa (Student Visa)

✅ For students studying full-time at a U.S. school or university
✅ School issues your Form I-20
✅ Mostly self-funded or scholarship-funded
✅ Can work on-campus or under OPT/CPT (with permission)
✅ Spouse gets F-2 visa (can’t work)
✅ No home return requirement after studies

J-1 Visa (Exchange Visitor Visa)

✅ For exchange programs, internships, research, or teaching
✅ Requires an official program sponsor (issues Form DS-2019)
✅ Often government or organization-funded
✅ Work allowed only within your program
✅ Spouse gets J-2 visa (can work + study)
✅ Some must return home for 2 years after the program

F-1 = Study visa → you’re earning a degree.
J-1 = Exchange visa → you’re gaining experience or cultural exposure.

If your goal is to study long-term or stay after graduation, F-1 might be better.
If it’s a short-term training or cultural exchange, J-1 fits best.

If you’re still in Nigeria and trying to move to Canada with a Medical or Science degree, read this:-

Someone shared this and it’s honestly gold advice for anyone with a background in Basic Medical Sciences (like Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, etc).

📍Train for Phlebotomy before or after you arrive:
If you have a degree in any basic medical science, phlebotomy is one of the fastest ways to start working in the healthcare system.
It’s a short certification, doesn’t require licensing like nursing or medicine, and gives you hands-on Canadian experience in labs and hospitals.

📍Do your First Aid & CPR immediately you land:
Almost every healthcare-related job (PSW, Lab Assistant, Phlebotomist, etc.) requires valid First Aid & CPR.
Get it early. It boosts your resume and shows employers you’re ready to work safely and professionally.

📍Bring your Nigerian Driver’s License:
Don’t waste money doing the international one.
Your regular Nigerian driver’s license works fine for a few months in most provinces, and it can help you get a Canadian license faster.

📍If you don’t have a driver’s license, get one now:
Driving opens up more job opportunities and makes daily life easier, especially outside city centers where public transport can be limited.

Don’t arrive and start from zero. Use what you already have, your background, your degree, your experience, and build strategically.

Small steps like these can save you months of struggle and help you start earning faster.

Worst decision you can make is to give up on your study abroad plans because of a visa denial.

One refusal doesn’t mean the end, it’s just feedback. Dust yourself off, learn from the reason, and try again (this time, smarter).

Many successful international students faced one, two or even multiple refusals before finally getting approved. What matters is learning from the reason for refusal, correcting it, and trying again with better guidance.

How can we be of help to you today? Send an email to [email protected] to begin your study abroad journey again.

As of 14 October 2025, it was agreed that from 1 January 2027 the Graduate Route visa will change for many students.

📍What is changing?

Currently, international students who complete a UK bachelor’s or master’s degree (taught, non‐PhD) are granted 2 years on the Graduate Route visa. PhD / doctoral graduates get 3 years.

Starting 1 January 2027, that 2-year stay for bachelor’s/master’s graduates will be reduced to 18 months for applications made on or after that date. The 3-year grant for PhD/doctoral graduates will not be changed, those will still get 3 years under the Graduate Route.

Apply before 2027 for full 2 years in the sense that if you apply before 1 January 2027 (or more precisely, if your application for Graduate Route is submitted before then) you will still get the 2-year duration.

Send an email to [email protected] to begin your UK study application today.

What’s your plan after studies?

This question always comes up, in SOPs, visa interviews, or scholarship essays, and it’s not just small talk.

They want to know three things:
✅ You have a clear direction.
✅ Your plan connects to your chosen course.
✅ You understand how to use the degree, not just get it.

Here’s a simple way to answer it:
📍State your long-term goal.
📍Show how the program fits into that goal.
📍Explain what you’ll do after graduation (work, research, start a business, etc.).
📍Mention how you’ll use your skills to make an impact.

Let’s use this example:

After my studies in Data Analytics, I plan to return home to work with development agencies, using data insights to solve social and economic problems.

Just keep it realistic, relevant, and purposeful. That’s how you make your “plan after studies” sound genuine, not rehearsed.

Don’t make this mistake!!

Imagine finishing school in Canada… only to find out your school isn’t a Designated Learning Institution (DLI). 😩

A DLI means the school is approved by the government to host international students.
If your school isn’t on that list, you can study, graduate, and still won’t qualify for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). The PGWP often leads to Permanent Residence through programs like the Canadian Experience Class, so studying at a non-DLI school can block that path entirely.

Before accepting admission or paying any fees, check the DLI list yourself on the official IRCC website, not through an agent’s word. Don’t assume all Canadian schools are recognized, some private institutions and career colleges are not.

Your future in Canada could depend on it.

Thinking of working as a Care Worker in Australia?

📍Regional & rural communities across Australia are hiring international care and health workers.
Some local health districts offer relocation packages of up to AUD $20,000 and other incentives to attract qualified workers.

📍Visa sponsorship is available.
Many roles are open under Australia’s Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) or Employer-Sponsored visas, allowing you to live and work in regional areas and later apply for permanent residency once you meet the requirements.

📍Dependants can be included in most visa applications, provided they meet health and character requirements.

📍No need to pay “agency fees.”
Always apply through official government or verified employer websites.

Australia genuinely welcomes skilled international care workers, especially in rural and regional areas, but always verify jobs and visa details on official websites like home affairs or the relevant State Health Department before applying.

All the best!

09/10/2025

If you’re going to Canada to study for only one year, it’s smarter to plan ahead and add another one-year program right after.

Let me explain further:
• When you get a one-year study program, your study permit and visa usually last for just that one year.
• If you apply for another one-year program before your first visa ends, you can extend your stay as a student.
• Doing two one-year programs (back to back) is almost the same as doing a two-year program, and that helps you get a longer Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), usually up to 3 years.

Nowadays, many people who did only one-year programs get only a 1-year PGWP, which may not be enough time to find a good job and apply for Permanent Residency (PR). Canada’s immigration system has become stricter than it was a few years ago.

You get it now? Please be informed.
