Osun Governorship Election: The governorship candidate of the Osun State APC, Asiwaju Bola Munirudeen Oyebamiji (AMBO), allegedly escaped an assassination attempt after unknown gunmen reportedly fired several shots at the Tinubu/AMBO campaign convoy while it was returning from the APC Ife Federal Constituency canvassers’ inauguration on August 12, 2026.
The incident has sparked reactions online, with some people questioning whether the att@ck actually happened.

Vandal Crushed To Death Under Collapsed Transmission Tower In Delta

A suspected vandal has been crushed to death under a collapsed vandalised transmission tower along the 330kV Ughelli-Benin transmission line in Delta State.

The incident was discovered during a line patrol carried out by the Delta Sub-Region, Lines Maintenance Department of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), following the tripping of the line on earth fault on the Ughelli - Benin 330kV Transmission line.

A statement by the TCN indicates that the patrol team traced the fault to Tower 101, which had collapsed.

The body of the suspected vandal was found crushed between the tower members.

Tower 101 on the adjacent Ughelli - Sapele 330kV transmission line had also been vandalized.

E say one particular guy don dey call and FaceTime family members, telling everybody say “Watibu don land London,” basically broadcasting him private location to the world.

Portable no gree with this one at all. In his words:

What an incredible driver…..

When a driver put his life at stake to safe passengers, appreciating and even simple thank you will not be too much ..

The journey started around 1:30pm on Tuesday the 28th day of July from AKTC park in uyo enroute Benin. It was such a smooth journey until we got to Asaba and the road was blocked due to heavy downpour.

After almost two hours, we were able to continue our journey but the rain became so heavy which made the journey more challenging. The driver refueled like he knew we were about facing challenges.

Road blocks everywhere and we kept navigating from one end to the other. At times we go forward and backward again just to scale through to Benin, then the unspeakable happened.

About 20 minutes to Benin bypass, the vehicle started jerking and guess what , fuel. Every passenger including myself couldn’t believe this because we knew we were in trouble. Checking the time, it was 11:42 pm inside the bush.

It was an experience I can’t forget in a hurry. We started stopping every available vehicle passing but non was ready to help. When we were still thinking of the way out, the driver came out with a keg and told us he will be back.

We watched the driver trekked out of our sight to the dark. We were there in the bush with our hearts in our hands . Our fate was unknown as the clock kept ticking one hour, two hours, three hours. Every hope lost with the conclusion that the driver had looked for a safe place to sleep leaving us to our fate.

At 3:05am, a truck coming from Benin towards Agbor slowed down towards us , we became more scared but guess what, it was our driver that alighted with keg of fuel… there was a sigh of relief from every passenger and that was how we continued our journey to Benin AKTC park.

Out of curiosity,I asked the driver what kept him, why he came back and why he didn’t behave like some drivers would have done. The response got me emotional… but to summarize it all , he said he couldn’t stand his passengers in the bush and he is sleeping somewhere.

This was strange among drivers of commercial vehicles and I asked myself what we would have said if he had behaved otherwise hence this write up to appreciate the good ones among them so that they can do better….
