Mistake # 1: Features Instead Of Benefits
Companies and online marketers make a serious mistake when they try to sell products by arraying its features more than portraying the benefits. The number one question ringing in the mind of your prospect is ‘How does this product make my problem go away?’ or ‘How does buying this product change my life?’ It’s a default pattern.
A subconscious question. And if you want them to reach for their wallet or click the buy button through your online marketing strategy, answering that question should be your only goal.
Costumers are saucy, impatient and you can’t blame them. Customer is king. And online, it is worse. Impatience is a strong reality in the online space. If you will grab your audience’s attention quickly, you should aim at telling (actually showing) them the benefits of using your products and not the jargons of product specifications.
Now don’t get me wrong, customers are intelligent too. They want to know what makes up the product, but that is after they have actually decided to buy. Emotion before logic… Never forget that.
Do you remember that slogan, ‘what’s in it for me’? Well, that’s the exact question in the mind of your prospects. The sooner you answer that question, the sooner you see them reach for their wallets or Cards. Your products are ‘the best’, you have put in so much to make it so but until you make prospects see the benefits it brings to their lives, you haven’t really started marketing your product.
