Social media commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM) has urged the Federal Government to provide rehabilitation and psychological support for the Oyo schoolchildren and teachers who regained their freedom after spending 55 days in captivity.
Reacting to their release, VDM expressed gratitude that the victims were rescued safely, stressing that they should receive proper medical, emotional and psychological care before fully returning to their families. He noted that the prolonged ordeal may have left lasting trauma that requires professional attention.
He emphasized that rehabilitation is essential to help the children and teachers recover emotionally and reintegrate into normal life.
VDM also criticized the country’s security challenges, saying the protection of lives and property should remain the government’s top priority. According to him, improved security would create a safer environment for education, agriculture, transportation and businesses to thrive.
While acknowledging recent efforts by security agencies against criminal groups, he said more must be done to tackle insecurity and ensure such incidents are prevented in the future.
The released victims, in a video, thanked the President, security agencies and everyone who played a role in securing their freedom.
Debate Question: Do you agree that rehabilitation should be mandatory for kidnap victims before they return to their normal lives?
