What not to do on a child facing difficulties with academics.

1). Do not punish for poor grades: it may increase shame and not motivation

2). Do not compare to siblings or friends, saying when I was at your age .

3). Do not do their work for them.

4). Do not take over their home work time completely: Saying you can’t do this alone breeds dependency. Step back, let them try first, and praise the attempt before offering help.

5). Do not label them as lazy or slow:

Every child can improve academically with right support, patient and strategy.

1). First, find the real root cause

2). Build confidence in a child before pushing them harder.

3). Focus on foundation skill

4). Teach “how to learn “ don’t assume they know it.

5). Create a low stress, consistent routine and remove what will distract a child like TV program.

6). Partner with the school (don’t fight them).
