Meet the Black woman who's studying for 9 years, finally passed the Bar after ten times exam falling

The Evelyn Uba, a woman from California who moved from Nigeria in 1983 who has achieved her lifelong dream of becoming a lawyer.

After nearly a decade of hard work, Uba went viral in 2021 when her daughter shared a video of her celebrating after passing the California bar exam.

Uba’s journey to becoming an attorney was anything but easy. She first set foot in the U.S. when she was 18 years old, aiming to attend law school.

However, financial troubles arose when her father had a stroke. Uba paused her studies to start a family but resumed her law education in 2005 at California Southern Law School.

Graduating in 2011, Uba focused on passing the bar exam to fulfill a promise she made to her late father.

She took the exam over ten times, each time coming closer but still falling short.

I took the exam more than ten times, she said. I stopped counting after a while but giving up certainly wasn’t in my dictionary.

Her dedication meant long nights studying after work, often missing out on family events.

Despite these sacrifices, her family’s support kept her going. Her daughter Naeche’s words were a powerful motivator.

My daughter, Naeche, once said to me, ‘Mom, if you give up now, you can’t get your time back.

Then what would you have gained out of all the missed time you could’ve spent with us?

So that always stuck in my head and I knew the only time I’d give up is when I’m dead, Uba said.

On January 8, 2021, Uba finally got the news she had been waiting for. She had passed the bar exam.

I will never play for Manchester United again, Marcus Rashford tell United fans

Marcus Rashford has accepted that he will never play for Manchester United again.

England star Rashford, on loan at Aston Villa until the end of the season, knows he has no future at United while Rubem Amorim is in charge and is therefore plotting his next career move.

From the outside, Rashford's plans to depart United do not come as a surprise to some. Ex-Red Devil Teddy Sheringham believes the player's body language has spoken volumes.

"I don't think there's a way back for Marcus Rashford at Man United," he told News Agency when questioned about a potential return to his parent side. "I don't think he wants to

Rashford scored his fourth goal since making the switch to Villa in Tuesday's 2-1 defeat for Unai Emery's side at Manchester City, to continue his upturn in form since leaving United.

Although Rashford is under contract at United until 2028, head coach Amorim does not want the 27-year-old to return to the club when his loan spell at Villa is up.

That has cemented Rashford's resolve to find a new permanent club this summer, but he is unlikely to remain in the Premier League, with a move to Spain an attractive option.

Villa have a £40million option to buy Rashford at the end of the loan agreement, but it is understood he does not favour a permanent move there and sees his future elsewhere.

Rashford wants to decide his next move and it is understood his representatives do not plan to address his future and hold talks with United until at least mid-June.

Sources close to Rashford have told Mirror Football the forward does not want to move to a London club but does want to play in the Champions League next season.

Villa's hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League suffered a setback with the defeat at City, in which Rashford equalised from the penalty spot.

Emery's side sit seventh in the table, two points behind fifth-placed Newcastle.

Trump to cut funding for housing voucher assistance, after running out of money

The President of United States, Donald J. Trump’s administration has warned that a major federal program helping families avoid homelessness is running out of money

And Black Americans, who make up the largest group of unhoused people in the U.S., may be hit the hardest

You will remember that, the emergency housing assistance was created in 2021 under President Joe Biden through the American Rescue Plan. It is expected to run out of funding by the end of 2025.

The $5 billion program was designed to help people escape homelessness, domestic violence, or financial hardship. It was meant to last at least a decade.

The U.S News Agency 2024 report that, more than 770,000 Americans were homeless as of January, an 18% increase from the previous year.

Of that number, over 240,000 identified as Black or African American - roughly 32% of the homeless population - despite making up about 13% of the U.S. population.

But rising rent prices have quickly drained the funds, putting over 60,000 families and individuals at risk of losing housing support, according to the Associated Press.

Many of these households have made significant progress toward stability, which could be erased without continued funding.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has sent letters to local organizations managing the program.

These letters advised them to brace for the worst and manage resources with the assumption that no additional federal funding will follow.

Experts and advocates warn that cutting off support now would be devastating for vulnerable groups who already face barriers to affordable housing.

Congress holds the power to renew the program, but political tensions make that unlikely.

With a Republican majority focused on cutting the federal budget, chances of more money being approved are slim.

Housing advocates say the program’s end would force thousands back into shelters or onto the streets, especially in communities of color.

Michelle Obama breaks silence on why she skipped Trump's second inauguration

The former first lady once again addressed divorce rumors circulated online after the former first lady was absent from Trump's inauguration and Jimmy Carter's funeral earlier this year.

Obama is opening up about skipping out on President Donald Trump's second inauguration.

The April 23 episode of her podcast, Obama and actress Taraji P. Henson talk about the pressures of living in the spotlight and the power of saying no.

My decision to skip the inauguration - or my decision to make choices at the beginning of this year that suited me - were met with such ridicule and criticism, Obama described during the episode.

People couldn't believe that I was saying no for any other reason. They had to assume that my marriage was falling apart.

I'm here really trying to own my life and intentionally practice making the choice that was right for me, she said.

It took everything in my power to not do the thing that was perceived as right, but do the thing that was right for me. That was a hard thing for me to do.

The former first lady revealed she had to basically trick herself into skipping out of the events by making sure she had nothing to wear.

It started with not having anything to wear, she said. I was like, 'If I'm not going to do this thing, I got to tell my team, I don't even want to have a dress ready,' right?

Because it's so easy to just say 'let me do the right thing.'

Obama explained that choosing to skip out on the inauguration and other political events was part of her learning how to say no.

Since leaving the White House, Obama said she has changed her approach to public events and revealed that therapy helped her in making those decisions.

It's a practice, she said. It's a muscle that you have to build. Because if you don't constantly build it, you don't develop it.

And I think we suffered, because it's almost like we started training late in life to build that muscle, right? I am just now starting to build it.

She went on to say she hopes young women start learning different strategies for saying no and that the sooner, the bette

After all that I've done in this world, if I am still showing them that I have to keep, I still have to show people that I love my country, that I'm doing the right thing, that I am always setting.

Going high all the time, even in the face of a lot of hypocrisy and contradiction, all I'm doing is keeping that crazy bar that our mothers and grandmothers set for us.

Why I Prefers dating younger men, Actress Tracee Ellis Rose shared her dating experience

The 52-year-old actress Tracee Ellis Ross recently shared her dating preferences in a conversation on Michelle Obama’s IMO podcast.

Ross shared that many men her age still hold onto toxic ideas of masculinity. She recalled past relationships where she felt controlled or treated like an object.

The Black-ish star said she often dates younger men, not just for attraction, but because they tend to be more emotionally open and less stuck in traditional relationship roles.

“I did enough of it where I was controlled and felt like I was a possession or a prize,” she said, according to News agency. “I just have no interest in it and will not do it again.

She’s dated older and younger men but noticed younger men are usually more flexible and accepting, especially around gender identity and social issues.

Ross, who is the daughter of Diana Ross and Robert Ellis Silberstein, emphasized that her choices aren’t based solely on age.

She also said she’s not interested in being someone’s teacher or guide.

After spending years learning what works for her, she now focuses on emotional safety and only builds connections that truly add value to her life. She prefers to meet people organically rather than through apps.

Ross also spoke about how her dating choices come with moments of grief. She admitted feeling sadness over not having the marriage or children she once imagined.
