A 25-year-old medical doctor serving as a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Wisdom Oghenetega Enakirerhi, has died after his request for sick leave was allegedly denied for three weeks.

Enakirerhi, who completed seven years in medical school and a one-year internship, fell seriously ill while posted at the Military Hospital in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He reportedly wrote to the hospital administration requesting exeat (permission to leave) for three weeks to attend to his deteriorating health, but was not released.

He was finally allowed to go home on Friday, June 26, 2026. The next day, he proceeded to Asi-Ukpo Memorial Hospital in Calabar for medical tests to determine the cause of his illness. While the investigations were still ongoing, the young doctor passed away.

The tragic incident has sparked widespread outrage online, with many questioning NYSC’s policy on medical leave and calling for better welfare support for corps members.

The boy was just afraid of Military that's why it default the hospital denial of his request,he would have default the hospital if it was a private or government hospital. Now I see the reasons why he didn't default.

PLATOONS 9 AND 7 SHINE DURING MR HANDSOME AND MISS BIG, BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL COMPETITION.

Corps members were treated to an exciting evening of glamour, fashion and entertainment as the Mr Handsome and Miss Big, Bold and Beautiful competitions held at the NYSC Orientation Camp.
In the Mr Handsome category, representatives from Platoons 8 and 1 emerged in third and second positions respectively as Chidera Udeagbala of Platoon 9 was crowned the overall winner after impressing the judges with his confidence, appearance and stage presence.

Similarly, in the Miss Big, Bold and Beautiful competition, contestants from Platoons 4 and 10 secured the third and second positions respectively as Divine Favour Ukaigwe of Platoon 7 emerged the overall winner, earning applause from corps members and camp officials

AFRICAN HAIRSTYLES COMPETITION ENLIVENS AKWA IBOM NYSC CAMP.

The Akwa Ibom NYSC Orientation Camp was filled with excitement as Corps Members showcased creativity and cultural pride during the African Hairstyles Competition.

After a keen contest, Platoon 3 emerged overall winner, while Platoons 4 and 7 placed second, and Platoons 1 and 8 finished third.

The event promoted cultural appreciation, creativity, and teamwork, making it another memorable highlight of the camp's social activities.
