After serving time behind bars, Dani Alves has now been cleared of r**e charges.
Life carries on as if nothing happened—especially for the woman whose accusations turned his world upside down. She remains free.
Dani, however, lost everything—his fortune, his career, and even his family. From the very beginning, it felt like the odds were stacked against him.
Once valued at $60 million, his empire collapsed following the allegations of r**e in a Barcelona nightclub bathroom. At 39, he spent 14 months locked away in Brians 2 prison.
Sponsors like Puma cut ties, draining millions from his earnings. Legal battles mounted, including a $2.2 million claim from Pumas UNAM. His marriage to Joana Sanz also fell apart, ending with a divorce filing in 2024.
Convicted in February 2024 under Spain’s tough consent laws—based heavily on the accuser’s testimony—he was handed a 4.5-year sentence and ordered to pay €150,000 in damages. Friends and allies, including Neymar’s family, helped cover part of the payment. Alves always maintained his innocence and appealed.
On March 28, 2025, Catalonia’s High Court overturned the conviction, citing “flaws and inaccuracies” in the evidence, contradictions in the accuser’s story, and a lack of corroborating proof. After 839 days, Dani finally walked free.
Meanwhile, his accuser stays anonymous—and unpunished for a claim that could never be proven.
Men be careful, everything you have worked for all your life can be taken one day. 🤷🏻♂️
