This is iyake lake, the one of 2 suspended lakes in the world situated in Ado Awaiye Iseyin Oyó state.

The lake is Believed to be bottomless and no one enters it and survives.

The History behind it is quite shocking.

Iyake literally translated to Woman cry. It’s a story of a barren woman from Ota Ogun state who migrated to Oyó during the old Oyó Empire.

She was loved by some but mocked by her barrenness and out shame she committed su***de by falling into the lake

Hence the name Iya Ake the woman that cried.

In the olden day this lake was believed to cure barrenness ever since she died in it.

It’s believed that if you pray with the water, bath with it or drink it you won’t be barren
