A child’s abilities starts from the womb. No child is a DULLARD.
A friend of mine reached out to me on how to build a child’s Abilities.
That's a thoughtful shift in question. A child's abilities come from a blend of genetics (nature) and environment (nurture), along with the child's own active engagement.
Here’s a simple breakdown:
1. Genetics (Inborn potential)
· Inherited traits from parents.
2. Brain development & maturation
· Abilities emerge as the brain grows – e.g., a toddler can't plan like a 7‑year‑old because the prefrontal cortex isn't ready yet.
· Sensitive periods exist (language, vision) where the brain is especially primed to learn certain skills.
3. Environment (Nurture)
· Family: Interactions, language exposure, emotional support, modeling.
· Education & play: Structured learning, but also free play that builds problem‑solving and social skills.
4· Nutrition & health: Proper food, sleep, and healthcare directly affect brain development and energy for learning.
5. Culture & opportunities: Access to books, music, sports, or digital tools shapes which abilities are practiced and valued.
6. Child's own effort and agency
· Even with good genes and environment, a child’s curiosity, persistence, and practice turn potential into real skills.
In short: Genes set the stage; experience writes the script.
I will explain each point one after the other. Stay clued to this page.
