From my box. Kai!
Growing up, I was always the one who didn’t matter.
I come from a family of five children two girls and three boys but if you saw the way I was treated, you would think I was a stranger they picked from the street. It wasn’t just neglect. It was intentional and a deliberate decision to push me aside because of how I looked.
I was just 11 years old when the insultts started.You don’t have a fine face.You don’t have shapee.Your mates have hips and bummmm, look at yourself.You won’t marry well.Who will even price you?
They would say these things while I sat quietly in the room, eyes open, ears wide. Every insultttsank into my soul like a daggerrrr. My parents said it. My mother especially. My siblings repeated it. And after a while, I started believing it too.
One night, I overheard a conversation that shatteredddd me for years.
My parents were debating who to send to school me or my younger sister.
I was hopeful maybe this time they would choose me.
But my mother said Don’t waste money on her. Put the slim one in school. Her bride price will be high. This one here she won’t marry. She doesnt have potential
And my father agreed.
That night, I wasn’t just left behind I was erased.

While my mates graduated, I was stuck in the village existing, running errands in the shop
Until one random day, God showed up in a most perfect way.
I had just come out of chapel when I met him a man who saw value in me without makeup, without gloss. He asked me, How can a girl this intelligent be out of school? Because we discussed that day and he was shocked i am not yet a graduate .
He didn’t have much. He had just finished his master’s and was struggling financially. But he told me, Let’s find a way.”He asked me to write JAMB, and I did. And I passed.
He helped me apply to school Imo State University and I got in.My own parents didn’t lift a finger.
But a stranger did everything.
Whenever he traveled, he told his parents to support me.His sister became the sister I never had she made me feel like I mattered.
That stranger never married me but I will forever be grateful for what he gave me. a new beginning.
Fast forward:
🎓 I graduated.
💍 My introduction is done.
👰🏽 I’m getting married this November.
And not just to any man but to a man of honor, influence, and humility.
I am just 26 years old, but I carry decades of pain in my chest.
And no, I haven’t forgivenn my parents.Not yet.
How do you forgive people who looked you in the eye and said you were not worth educating not worth raising?
I’m healing. I’m trying. But I’m not there yet.
And my beautiful sister is yet to bring a suitor and I pray she does even though she enjoyed how they always talk me down and praise her .
And is my dads mum I look like ooo. This people really did me durty 😭😭😭😭
