Children and perfume: The Truth Parents Must Know
When it comes to perfumes and children, many parents think, “If it smells good for me, it should be fine for my child.” But that’s not always true.
Here’s why 👇
1️⃣ Children’s bodies are not like adults’
A child’s skin is thinner and more sensitive than an adult’s. If you spray normal perfume directly on them, it can easily cause rashes, itching, or dryness because of the alcohol and strong chemicals inside.
2️⃣ Their lungs are still developing
When a child inhales strong perfume, it’s almost like giving their little lungs a shock. Some children start coughing, sneezing, or even get headaches. For kids with asthma or breathing problems, a strong perfume can actually trigger an attack.
3️⃣ Perfume is not food-safe
Children love to touch everything and put their hands in their mouth. If you spray perfume on their skin or clothes, chances are they may lick or chew it accidentally. Since perfumes are made with alcohol and other chemicals, it’s not safe if swallowed.
4️⃣ Does this mean children should not smell nice?
Not at all. Kids can still smell good without harming their health. The trick is in choosing the right type of fragrance and how you use it:
✅ Use mild, alcohol-free oils (like attars) made specially for children.
✅ Instead of spraying directly on their skin, spray lightly on their clothes, hairbrush, or handkerchief.
✅ Go for lighter scents like baby colognes, not strong, sharp perfumes.
5️⃣ Golden Rule for Parents
A little scent goes a long way. For children, it’s not about smelling like a perfume shop—it’s about keeping them safe, fresh, and comfortable.
At Beeb Scent, we always say: “Perfume should beautify your smell, not harm.”
Your kids deserve to be safe first, then comfortable and fresh
