Good morning/good evening, everyone.

I want to clarify something concerning the post I made about my fans who is currently looking for accommodation.

She came to my DM asking if I could help her put the information out there, so I made the post hoping that someone who has an available room, knows someone looking for a housemate, or knows of a job that comes with accommodation could reach out to her.

But I’ve been seeing comments like, “Why can’t you accommodate her?” “Are you not in Lagos?” “Is your house not big enough?”

Honestly, I don't understand why some people feel entitled to tell another person what they should do with their home.

Yes, I live in Lagos. Yes, I have a place. But accommodating someone in my home is a personal decision, and it is not something I am obligated to do simply because I am asking others to help.

I have had an experience in the past where I tried to accommodate someone. I even sent ₦50,000 to help the person transport herself to Lagos because I genuinely wanted to help. After that experience, I made a decision that I would be much more careful about bringing people into my personal space.

To be forewarned is to be forearmed.

And beyond my past experience, I also have my auntie's children staying with me. Do you honestly expect me to bring another person I barely know into the same house without thinking about how that could affect everyone already living there?

I am also dealing with my own responsibilities and trying to build my own life. Just because someone sees a picture of my house or knows that I live in Lagos doesn't mean they know everything happening behind the scenes.

Helping someone does not always mean opening your home to them. Sometimes helping means making a post, connecting them to someone, sharing an opportunity, or simply directing them to someone who can assist.

So please, if you don't have a helpful suggestion, you don't have to comment “Why can't you accommodate her?” You can simply scroll past the post.

Nobody knows the full story behind another person's decision, so let's learn to stop judging people based on what we can see from the outside.
