Papa Ezekiel's son got a phone call from a neighbor last Tuesday. 😂
"Your father is on TikTok. He has two million followers. My daughter showed me."
He thought it was a joke.
It was not a joke.
Today he called the grandchildren responsible into the living room and sat them down in front of their grandfather for a formal family meeting about privacy, respect and asking permission before posting elderly relatives on the internet.
He had prepared a whole speech.
Then he showed Papa Ezekiel the phone.
Papa Ezekiel looked at his own TikTok page for a long time. 2.3 million followers. Blue tick. 47 million views on one video of him doing something he does every single morning and has done for forty years.
He scrolled to the comments slowly.
"This man is the BLUEPRINT."
"Nigerian grandfather of the year every year."
"I would cross oceans to meet this man."
"He is literally my comfort person and I have never met him."
Papa Ezekiel put the phone down on his knee. He looked at his grandchildren. He looked at his son who had a whole speech ready. He looked at the framed screenshot on the wall they put there this morning.
Then he looked back at the phone.
"2.3 million." he said quietly. To nobody in particular. 😂
His son is still holding his speech. The grandchildren are still reading the room. The comment section is still going.

Grandma looks at the half finished plate of jollof rice, clearly uncomfortable with the leftover food. 😊
She says — Adaeze, she needs to finish her plate, we don't waste food in this family, this is how children learn discipline.
Her daughter gently rubs her granddaughter's shoulder, smiling calmly.
She says — Mama, I know, but I want her to learn to listen to her own body, if she says she's full, I trust that, we can always save the rest for later instead of forcing her to overeat.
Grandma looks at her granddaughter's content little face, then at the plate, still not entirely convinced but softening.
She says — well, at least promise me nothing goes to waste.
The mother smiles, already wrapping up the leftover rice as her daughter happily hops down from the table, tummy comfortably full. 😊
