A 38-year-old woman from Imo State has been arrested for allegedly maltreating her 6-year-old house help, causing injuries to the child.

According to the Imo State Police, the woman has been paraded for investigation and will face the law for the alleged abuse.

Authorities say the child is now receiving care and the case is being handled to ensure justice is served.

There was serious drama in the Senate today after Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe confronted a northern senator who reportedly said that “Nnamdi Kanu will die in prison and nothing will happen.”

Eyewitnesses said Abaribe immediately stood up in anger and warned the senator never to make such a statement again. The Senate chamber became noisy as other lawmakers quickly stepped in to stop the situation from turning into a physical fight.

Abaribe reportedly said:

“You should not speak carelessly about someone whose case is still in court. Nigeria is already too fragile for such reckless statements.”

Another senator, trying to calm everyone, added:

“This is the National Assembly, not a battlefield. We must show restraint, even when we disagree.”

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, said it is risky to bomb bandit camps because some of them are in forests that bombs cannot pe*****te.

According to his interview with BBC Hausa, he explained that the Armed Forces are close to ending banditry, even though there have been recent school kidnappings.

He said the attacks happening now follow guerrilla tactics, where criminals stay quiet for some time and then suddenly strike to cause fear.

“This is how guerrilla warfare works — there will be calm, and then an attack that shakes the nation.

“Yes, we know where they are, but some locations are too risky for direct strikes because civilians could be harmed, and some forests are too thick for bombs to enter,” Badaru said.

He added that the government is still worried about the rising school kidnappings and is working to understand what went wrong and how to stop it from happening again.
