Peter Obi detained and interrogated at UK airport over crimes allegedly committed by impostor.

The Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council (LPPCC), has disclosed that the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was detained and interrogated for hours by immigration officials at Heathrow Airport, London, over offences allegedly committed by an impostor.

LPPCC stated Obi’s impostor, who is still at large, may commit various crimes that would lead to the arrest of Peter Obi in the United Kingdom.

This is according to a statement signed by Head of Media of the Obi-Datti, Diran Onifade.
In the statement, Onifade noted that Obi was arrested at the Heathrow Airport for duplication.

Onifade said Obi arrived the Heathrow Airport in London from Nigeria on Good Friday, April 7, 2023, and joined the queue for the necessary airport protocols when he was accosted by an immigration official who handed him a detention note and told him to step aside.

The statement reads in part: “The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi just back from London, United Kingdom where he celebrated Easter, has confirmed that he was harassed by London immigration officials and placed for detention but for the spontaneous reaction of Nigerians at Heathrow Airport.

“Obi-Datti Media office can confirm that the LP Presidential candidate in the February 25 Presidential poll arrived the Heathrow Airport in London from Nigeria on Good Friday, April 7, 2023, and joined the queue for the necessary Airport protocols when he was accosted by immigration official who handed him a detention note and told him to step aside. He was questioned for a long time and it was very strange for a man who lived for over a decade in that country.

“Since Obi’s face was already an international frame, especially for Nigerians, Africans home, and in Diaspora who are likely to be Obidients, the people quickly raised their voices wondering why he was being delayed.

“The immigration officials who were also taken aback at the reaction of the people were forced to reveal that Obi was being questioned for a duplication offense, meaning that someone has been has been impersonating him in London.

Senator Dino Melaye has fired back at Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, who on Tuesday, April 11, laughed off his aspiration to become the next governor of Kogi state.

Wike had ruled out Melaye ahead of the PDP primary which precedes the November 15 governorship poll.

Describing Melaye's ambition as a joke, Wike said;

“When you give Dino that ticket, you know he won’t win in Kogi State. Why would Kogi people say they would vote for a candidate like Dino? Are we joking?” the governor queried.

However, in a statement released on social media, Melaye said it was surprising that Wike has suddenly become the 'self-appointed public office regulator, who could determine what would happen in states." He said that the governor has by his utterances against him stepped on the tail of Tiger and will "see the repercussions."

“On recovering from his inebriation, Wike should be reminded that Kogi is not Rivers, and the people of Kogi State would not worship any foreign God. Above all, Wike should also understand that power belongs to God, and he gives it to whoever he wants, even the basest of men. Today, Wike can take a swipe at me, and mark me down as unqualified to govern my state, but has he forgotten that he believed my Gubernatorial aspiration in 2019? Can he be reminded that I have served as a member of the Federal House of Representatives and have also been elected twice into the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.''he wrote

Melaye said Wike is against his governorship ambition because he backed PDP flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar against the governor’s interest in the G5.

“He (Wike) needs to appreciate that now that he has touched the tiger’s tail and murdered sleep, the discomfort of a bird perched on a rope has now become his portion.”

“Wike, stay on your lane. I am Daniel Dino Melaye. My speciality is to tame lions, whether they be white or black, dwelling in rocks or floating on Rivers.

"Wike has turned himself into a depraved interloper, who probably out of schizophrenic impulse engage in pitiable melodrama whenever he steps away from the intoxication of his bottle companions.

Assault: Police to begin trial of Rivers State.

The Nigeria Police Force has revealed the identities of three policemen involved in the assault on a motorists in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Sunday.

It said the three policemen, who were identified as Inspector Adejoh Siaka, Inspector Friday Obaka, and Sergeant Ndiwa Kpuebari, would soon face trial.

This was as FHQ also announced the arrest of Sergeants Abdullahi Badamasi, Isah Danladi, and Inspector Dahiru Shuaibu, the caught in a viral video firing into thin air in Kano State.

The PUNCH had reported on Monday that the FHQ ordered the arrest of the Rivers officers seen in a viral video assaulting a male motorist.

In the video, one of the officers was seen assaulting a man with a stick before slapping him repeatedly and subsequently forcing him to enter a vehicle.

One other officer forcefully pushed other passengers to their car and cocked his gun, in an incident that happened on Sunday at Emouha Junction, East/West Road in Port Harcourt.

However, following public outcry, the police authority condemned the action of the policemen, adding that their conduct doesn’t represent the character of the NPF nor the practice in the Force.

Parading them at the FHQ on Tuesday, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, gave their names as Inspector Adejoh Siaka, Inspector Friday Obaka, and Sergeant Ndiwa Kpuebari

Adejobi, who posted a picture of the three policemen on his Twitter handle, on Tuesday, wrote: “Inspector Adejoh Siaka, Inspector Friday Obaka, and Sgt. Ndiwa Kpuebari from Rivers State. These are the men who slapped a man on the road in Rivers.

“They reported at the Force Headquarters today.

No power or force can remove Tinubu as president - Umahi

David Umahi, governor of Ebonyi state, says no power or force can remove Bola Tinubu as the president of the country.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) are challenging the victory of Tinubu, president-elect, at the presidential election tribunal.

Speaking on Tuesday in Abakaliki, the capital city of Ebonyi, Umahi said God allowed Tinubu to win the presidential election.

The governor said “extreme politics” should be deemphasised so the country could be a better place.

“APC as a party merited all it got at the polls,” NAN quoted him as saying.

“When people say they are going to court or going to tribunal, I just laugh because there is no power or force that can remove Tinubu from being the president of Nigeria.

“This is because the time God would have stopped him, God allowed him. Because God allowed him, no man could stop him.

“And this extreme politics should be de-emphasized in Nigeria, so we can move forward for a better Nigeria.”

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Tuesday met with the Deputy Governor of Madinah, Saud Khalid Al-Faisal during the commencement of his eight-day official visit to Saudi Arabia.

Nigeria’s unemployment rate to rise to 41% in 2023 – KPMG:

Global audit and tax advisory firm, KPMG, has projected that Nigeria’s unemployment rate is expected to rise to 40.6% as compared to 2022’s 37.7%.

KPMG detailed this forecast in its International Global Economic Outlook report – H1 2023 on Tuesday, where it stated that “unemployment is expected to continue to be a major challenge in 2023 due to the limited investment by the private sector, low industrialization, and slower than required economic growth and consequently the inability of the economy to absorb the 4-5 million new entrants into the Nigerian job market every year”.

The report also revealed in part that there are expectations for GDP to continue to grow at a relatively slow pace of 3% in 2023 owing to the slowdown in economic activity that typically characterizes periods of political transition in Nigeria. Furthermore, the spillover from an expected slowdown in the global economy in 2023 and its trade and financial flow implications are expected to drag
on GDP.

“Additionally, growth will be negatively affected by the Naira Redesign Policy introduced in Q4 2022 and Q1 2023 and its implications on key non-oil sectors like manufacturing, trade, accommodation and food services, transportation, and other services, further slowing down overall GDP growth in 2023,” the report read.

Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps has impounded three trucks carrying precious stones.

The Commandant, Muhammed Muazu, disclosed this at a news briefing in Gusau on Monday, saying that the trucks, loaded with precious stones, were intercepted in Gusau on their way to Sokoto as the drivers had no legal documents for security clearance.

The commandant said, “We have no problem with the drivers or vehicles, rather the owners were to provide necessary evidence that will permit them to engage in the business.”

A 16-year-old Atlanta boy drowned after selflessly jumping into action to rescue four younger children stuck in an undercurrent while on a trip to Florida last week.

Bryce Brooks was with relatives in Pensacola for spring break when his life was cut short after he dove into the ocean to help four kids stranded in the ocean, his grieving family said Monday. April 10.

During the heroic rescue, Brooks went under and an older family friend named Charles Johnson II went to help the high schooler.

Sadly Charles Johnson and Bryce Brooks both died, Brooks’ stepfather Shivy Brooks said during a press conference.

“The selflessness that it takes for someone to make such a sacrifice, to do so at only the age of 16, we’re so proud as parents how our son has shown up in this moment,” Shivy Brooks said… “Let it be amplified that Atlanta developed kids that would give up their life for others that they didn’t even know.”

“Bryce is a hero,” he added. “He literally saved the lives of four kids at the expense of his own and the world should know.”

Other adults on the beach were able to retrieve both teen and adult, and life-saving measures were taken on the beach, Shivy Brooks said, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The two were also airlifted to a hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Bryce died from cardiac arrest, his stepfather said, according to the newspaper.

The young man leaves behind his parents and a younger brother.
