SIR JIM RATCLIFFE AND HIS GANG-- SO FAR SO GOOD
When the 29% minority stake acquired by Sir Ratcliffe from the Glazers was announced on 2023 Christmas Eve,he made no mistake about his intentions in the footballing section of Manchester United. He has successfully upgraded the facilities at Carrington,and Old Trafford tunnel. On the squad,the gang has added;
Joshua Zirkzee --£36.6 m
Yeny Yoro --£52 m
Matthijs De-Ligt ---£42.89 m
Noussair Mazraoui --£12.87 m.
The manner in which these deals were done reminds one of the days of Sir Alex Ferguson and David Gill. Whether these players will come to party is a different kettle of fish, however, I think Sir Ratcliffe and the gang has done well so far,so good . What is your assessment of them so far UNITED fans?

The Patriots led by the former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, has asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately institute a process of producing a new constitution for the country.

The group said the new constitution has become imperative as the existing one has no capacity to take the country to the promise land, adding that the constitution is also responsible for the prevailing situation in the country.

The group addressed State House Correspondents after meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House on Friday.

Others members of the group that attended the meeting with President Tinubu were, Senator Shehu Sani, Mike Ozekhome, Labaran Maku, Senator Ben Obi, Segun Osoba, among others.

They said President Tinubu should immediately send a presidential bill to the National Assembly, so that a constituent assembly would be put in place and be mandated to produce a new Constitution that will put into consideration the plurality of the country.

The draft constitution should also be subjected to a National referendum that should give the people a new constitution, expected to tackle many of challenges in the country.

The group which said the new constitution can be put together in nine months, added that what we have presented was responsible for the challenges bedeviling the country.

The United Arab Emirates Government has finally lifted visa restrictions imposed on Nigerians with immediate effect.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known to State House correspondents on Monday after the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu.

Idris said the Federal Government and the UAE authorities have reached an agreement vacating travel restrictions imposed on Nigerians with immediate effect.

The minister revealed that Nigerian passport holders can now travel to the UAE without any hindrance. He also asked Nigerians seeking information on the updated UAE visa conditions can visit https://documentverificationhub.ae for further details.

He said, “I can tell you that the agreement has been reached and effective from today, Nigerian passport holders intending to travel to the UAE are able to do so.

“You are aware that Nigeria has been discussing with the United Arab Emirates the issue of visas for Nigerian passport holders going to the United Arab Emirates.

“Today, an agreement has been reached on that, and effective from today 15th July, Nigerian passport holders are able to obtain visas to go to the United Arab Emirates.

It will be recalled that the UAE imposed the visa ban on Nigeria in connection with several diplomatic disputes.

It would be recalled that the UAE had imposed a visa ban on Nigeria barely two years ago due to various diplomatic disputes.

Additionally, Dubai’s Emirates Airline halted flights to Nigeria because the Central Bank of Nigeria couldn’t remit an estimated $85 million in revenue to the UAE.

In June, following several meetings with the UAE government, the Federal Government assured Nigerians that the visa ban would soon be lifted.

During the same month, the Nigerian government announced that it had paid 98 percent of $850 million.

The Turkish Embassy in Nigeria on Saturday confirmed that there is no visa ban on Nigerian passport holders, dispelling reports that have raised concern.

Reports surfaced on Thursday suggesting that Ethiopia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates had revoked certain privileges for Nigerian passport holders, such as visa-on-arrival, e-visa, and outright passport issues.

Specifically, Turkey no longer allows Nigerian passport holders to obtain its e-visa, which was previously a seamless process.

Despite these changes, the Personal Secretary to the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Wunmi Evelyn, clarified in a chat with our correspondent, “There is no visa ban on Nigerian passport holders.

Visa applications are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, the secretary explained, addressing specific instances where applicants faced rejections.

This clarification came following the ranking of Nigeria’s passport among the world’s least powerful, according to the Henley Passport Index.

In 2023, Nigeria was ranked 90th globally, allowing visa-free admission to only 46 out of 227 destinations.

Despite being Africa’s largest economy, Nigeria’s passport is the fifth-worst in Africa, tied with South Sudan, and only ahead of Congo, Eritrea, Sudan, Libya, and Somalia.

Hetty Green...the most stingy woman in history, her wealth is estimated at more than $2.3 billion. Hetty Greene was born in America in 1835. She was the only daughter of a wealthy businessman.

She inherited from her father a fortune estimated at $7.5 million. When she was twenty-one years old, she moved to live in New York to invest her money in Wall Street and was called the Wicked Witch of Wall Street.

She married a millionaire like herself, but still lived on leftover cakes and broken biscuits in grocery stores and argued to get a free bone for her dog every day!! Hetty Greene was a very miserable woman. She sewed underpants when she was 16 years old and did not change them or buy others until the day of her death.

She never spent a penny, so it was said that she never used hot water, that she wore a black dress that she did not change until it was completely worn out, and that she lived on eating a pie that cost only two cents.

Hetty caused her son to amputate his leg because when he broke it, she delayed treating it because she insisted not to. She spent no money and kept looking for free medical attention.

Hetty Greene died in 1916 at the age of 81 in New York City, and was entered in the Guinness Book of World Records as the “most stingy person in the world.”

The cause of her death was a stroke due to a quarrel with her maid because the maid asked for an increase in her meager salary.

She died and left behind a huge fortune, and her children did not inherit her extreme stinginess, but rather they were generous to the point that her daughter built a free hospital with her money!

The Senate has followed the House of Representatives in passing a bill seeking to make provision for Nigeria to revert to its old national anthem.

The upper legislative chamber passed the bill following deliberations on a report presented by Tahir Monguno, the chair of the judiciary committee.

The old anthem “Nigeria, We Hail Thee” was replaced with the current one “Arise, O Compatriots in 1978.

Is this a good idea, let’s have your opinion in the comment section

Manchester United are FA Cup winners for the 13th occasion in the club's history after beating Manchester City 2-1 in the 2024 final at Wembley Stadium.
The Reds will now enter the Europa League next season, as a reward for winning English football's most famous knockout competition for the first time since 2016.

First-half goals from two United Academy graduates, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, in the 30th and 39th minutes respectively put the Reds in control of the showpiece occasion.

Although City substitute Jeremy Doku pulled one back for the Premier League champions in the 87th minute, Erik ten Hag's men defended valiantly through the remainder of the game to see out a triumph that some pundits had thought unlikely in the build-up.
