Back to the Basics ๐Ÿธ

As I continue to engage bartenders across the country, one thing stands out , there's a huge gap in "foundational bartending knowledge".

Some "bartender" are glorified waiters. I'm not saying you must possess certifications from Harvard or some fancy name.

Do you know there are some free courses and resources online to enhance your efficiency?
These resources can help you build your rรฉsumรฉ too.
Google is your friend.

Before the flair, the cocktails, and the content, we need to rebuild the basics.
It has to be said, sorry not sorry ๐Ÿ˜

Beneath the clink of ice and hiss of shaken gin,
A silent maestro weaves a final spin.
Not just of spirits, but of art untold,
In swirls of citrus, whispers green and gold.

The garnish whispers, "Drink me with your eyes,
Before your lips embrace the liquid prize."
A twist of lemon, sun-kissed, bright and bold,
Awakens senses, banishes the cold.

A fiery sliver of chiseled lime,
Adds drama, tang, a touch of summertime.
It paints the glass with streaks of tart delight,
And begs the tongue to take a citrusy bite.

We would love to educate our dear friends with some cocktail trivia or history facts

*The word "cocktail" first appeared in print in 1806 in The Balance and Columbian Repository, a newspaper in Hudson, New York. The definition given was "a stimulating liquor, composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water, and bitters."

*The first cocktail shaker was patented in 1865 by Jerry Thomas, a bartender in New York City.** Thomas is considered the "father of the cocktail" and is credited with creating many classic cocktails, including the Old Fashioned, the Manhattan, and the Martini.

*The most expensive cocktail ever sold was a $2.1 million martini.** The cocktail was made with a bottle of 1948 Macallan scotch, a diamond-encrusted stirrer, and edible gold flakes. It was sold at a charity auction in 2011.

*The most popular cocktail in the world is the Mojito. The Mojito is a Cuban cocktail made with rum, sugar, lime juice, mint, and soda water. It is a refreshing and easy-to-make cocktail that is enjoyed by people all over the world.

*The oldest cocktail bar in the world is The Old Guard in San Francisco. The bar was founded in 1861 and is still in operation today. It is a popular spot for tourists and locals alike.

These are just a few examples of cocktail trivia or history facts that you can share with friends. I hope you find them interesting!

๐ŸŒป Welcome to the month of September! ๐Ÿ‚

Can you believe it's already September? Time flies, doesn't it?

This month is a gentle reminder that change is inevitable, and we must make the most of it. It's a time to reflect on the goals we set earlier this year and recommit ourselves to achieving them. Let's use this month to reset, refocus, and take steps toward personal growth.

September also brings a sense of renewal. It's a time when schools reopen, and students embark on new educational journeys. It's a chance for us to learn, grow, and expand our horizons. Whether you're a student or not, let's embrace the spirit of learning and curiosity that this month offers.

So, my dear friends, let's welcome September with open arms and an open mind. Let's make this month one to remember, filled with positivity, growth, and gratitude. Here's to a September full of endless possibilities and beautiful moments! ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ

Today, I want to share with you some valuable insights on how to become a truly exceptional mixologist. Whether you're a seasoned professional or just starting out on this exciting journey, these tips will help you elevate your craft and leave a lasting impression on every guest who takes a sip of your creations. So, let's dive in!

1. Knowledge is key: A great mixologist is a walking encyclopedia of spirits, liqueurs, and cocktail recipes. Invest time in expanding your knowledge about different ingredients, their origins, and how they interact with each other. This will allow you to create unique and well-balanced concoctions that will tantalize the taste buds.

2. Attention to detail: Paying meticulous attention to every aspect of your craft is what sets you apart. From the selection of glassware to the garnishes, make sure every element of your presentation is flawless. Remember, it's the little things that make a big difference.

3. Experiment fearlessly: Don't be afraid to push boundaries and think outside the box. Mixology is an art, and true artists are always willing to take risks. Experiment with new flavors, techniques, and combinations. Who knows, you might just stumble upon the next groundbreaking cocktail!

4๏ธ. Master the classics: While innovation is essential, mastering the classics is equally important. Familiarize yourself with timeless cocktails like the Martini, Old Fashioned, and Margarita. Understanding their history, ingredients, and techniques will give you a solid foundation to build upon.

5๏ธ. Develop your palate: A good mixologist possesses a refined palate. Train your taste buds by regularly sampling different spirits, wines, and ingredients. This will enable you to detect subtle nuances and create harmonious flavor profiles that will leave your guests in awe.

6๏ธ. Practice, practice, practice: Like any skill, mixology requires practice to perfect. Dedicate time to honing your techniques, mastering your pours, and perfecting your timing. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither will your mixology skills.

7๏ธ. Be a gracious host: A good mixologist not only crafts exceptional drinks but also creates a memorable experience for their guests. Be attentive, engaging, and knowledgeable. Make each guest feel special, and they will keep coming back for more.

8๏ธ. Stay updated: The world of mixology is constantly evolving, with new trends and techniques emerging all the time. Stay informed by attending workshops, reading industry publications, and following renowned mixologists on social media. This will keep your creativity flowing and ensure you're always at the forefront of the mixology scene.

Remember, being a good mixologist is about more than just making great drinks. It's about passion, creativity, and dedication. So, embrace the art, strive for excellence, and let your cocktails speak volumes. Cheers to becoming a master mixologist!
