He no fit believe say John, the same brother wey he trust pass anybody, fit do this kind thing.
The old neighbor, Pa Sunday, touch Ken shoulder.

Ken wipe his tears.
“Pa, all the money wey I send am… where everything go?”
Pa Sunday sigh.
“Your brother tell everybody say na him own money. He even warn people make nobody tell you anything.”
Ken's heart break.
“So all these years, I dey work for my family, but my own brother dey use my sweat build himself?”
Pa Sunday nod.
Ken immediately call John.
“Where you dey?”
John answer casually.
“I dey house. Why?”
“I don reach the village.”
There was silence.
“You don reach?”
“Yes. I dey stand for the land wey I send you money to build.”
John's voice changed.
“Ah… Ken, I wan explain.”
“Explain wetin?”
“The money no reach to build the house.”
Ken laughed bitterly.
“You mean all the years I dey send money, nothing reach?”
John became defensive.
“Brother, things happen.”
Ken replied,
“Come outside.”
After some minutes, John came out.
The moment he saw Ken, his face became pale.
“Ken…”
Ken looked at the expensive house behind him.
“Na my money build this house?”
John couldn't answer.
Ken pointed at the house.
“Na my money buy that car?”
John remained silent.
“The lands wey I tell you make you buy for our future, na my money buy them too?”
John finally shouted,
“Enough!”
Ken froze.
John continued,
“You travel go Canada, you dey enjoy there, you think say everything easy for here?”
Ken stared at him.
“I work day and night!”
“So? I too work!”
Ken shook his head.
“You no work with your own money. You work with mine.”
John became quiet.
Then Ken asked the question that changed everything.
“Where Papa's land dey?”
John's face changed immediately.
Pa Sunday, who was standing nearby, looked at him.
Ken noticed.
“Why everybody dey look you like this?”
John tried to walk away.
Ken stopped him.
“Answer me.”
John finally said,
“Papa leave that land for me.”
Ken shook his head.
“No. Papa tell both of us say the land na for both of us.”
John looked away.
Ken suddenly remembered something.
Before their father died, he told both brothers:
“Una two must take care of each other. Anything I leave behind, share am peacefully.”
Ken trusted John to handle the documents because he was abroad.
But John had secretly changed everything.
Pa Sunday finally spoke.
“Ken, your brother sold part of your father's land last year.”
Ken became speechless.
“He sold Papa's land?”
“Yes.”
“And the money?”
Pa Sunday looked at John.
“Na him use am expand his business.”
Ken's eyes filled with tears.
He looked at John.
“You no just steal my money. You steal Papa's last gift to us.”
John became defensive.
“I was trying to make money!”
Ken replied,
“You could have told me.”
John said nothing.
That night, Ken went to his mother's old room.
He sat alone and cried.
He remembered the day he left Nigeria.
Mama had held his hand and told him,
“My son, no forget your brother. Una na blood.”
Ken whispered,
“Mummy, I try.”
But his brother had betrayed him.
The following morning, Ken made one decision.
He no go fight John.
He no go insult him.
He no go destroy anything.
Instead, he would find the original documents and use the law to recover whatever truly belonged to him.
He contacted a lawyer.
The lawyer checked the documents and discovered something shocking.
Some of the lands John claimed belonged to him had actually been registered using Ken's money and evidence of the transfers still existed.
The lawyer looked at Ken.
“My brother, you get strong evidence.”
Ken breathed deeply.
“So I fit recover them?”
“If the documents and payment records confirm your ownership, we can challenge the transactions legally.”
Ken nodded.
But before they could proceed, John came to see him.
He was no longer angry.
He was crying.
“Ken, please.”
Ken looked at him.
“What do you want?”
John fell to his knees.
“I made mistake.”
Ken's heart became heavy.
But then John said something that shocked him.
“I no steal everything alone.”
Ken frowned.
“Wetin you mean?”
John looked toward the door.
“There is somebody else who has been helping me.”
Ken's eyes widened.
“Who?”
John whispered the name.
And the moment Ken heard it…
he realized that the betrayal was even deeper than he ever imagined.
