Is Lemon Good For the Kidney?
A glass (or two) of lemon water a day might keep the urologist away.
Lemons are very high in citrate (citric acid), and are widely recommended on popular medical websites so as to prevent especially calcium oxalate kidney stones (as citrate binds to calcium and prevents the calcium binding to oxalate or phosphate instead). And just to be clear: we are talking about real natural lemon juice — not something from the grocery store with added sugars and the like.
But the real miracle if it comes to kidney stone prevention is actually the other ingredient in fresh lemon juice: H2O— aka, water. Staying hydrated is the single most important preventer of many kidney stone drama. Water with or without citric acid is the magic key.
Staying hydrated can help flush out unwanted health related conditions in the body.
