ROTimi AMAECHI
From the Rivers State House of Assembly to the corridors of power in Abuja, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi has built one of the most remarkable political careers in modern Nigeria.

Born on May 27, 1965, in Rivers State, Amaechi entered politics in the 1990s. In 1999, he became Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, a position he held until 2007.

His biggest political breakthrough came in 2007, when he became Governor of Rivers State following a legal battle over the governorship ticket. He was re-elected in 2011 and later became Chairman of the Nigeria Governors' Forum.

But Amaechi's political journey took another turn when he left the PDP and joined the APC. He became Director-General of Muhammadu Buhari's 2015 presidential campaign, and after Buhari won, Amaechi was appointed Minister of Transportation.

In 2022, Amaechi entered the race for the APC presidential ticket. He finished second behind Bola Tinubu, receiving 316 delegate votes.

Today, Amaechi remains an influential figure in Nigerian politics. His journey—from state legislator, to Speaker, Governor, Minister and presidential contender—shows how far political ambition can take a determined Nigerian politician.
