The Assistant Inspector General of Police
Nigeria Police Force,
Alagbon,
Lagos State.
Dear Sir,
GROSS MISHANDLING OF A DEFILEMENT, R@PE, IMPREGNATE A MINOR, AB©RTION FOR A MINOR, BREACH OF CONFIDENTIALITY, AND PROFESSIONAL MISCONDUCT BY POLICE OFFICERS AT ALAGBADO POLICE STATION, CONSPIRACY AND CONDUCT LIKELY TO CAUSE BREACH OF PUBLIC PEACE.
It is our information at the committee above to formally bring to your attention a very disturbing case involving the mishandling of a reported d€fil€ment, r@pe, impregnated a minor and ab©rtion for a minor incident and the unprofessional conduct of officers at Alagbado Police Station.
DETAILS OF THE CASE
We were informed that Fathia Adelana almost 17 years old in 2025 was bed wetting and stealing and all efforts by the parents to stop her from disgracing the family proved abortive. So the parents decided to seek for spiritual possible solution that led them to Merciful International Church situated at no 22, Moses Olawale street, Alagbado, Lagos.
We were further informed that Mrs Bolanle Bello, the mother of fathia Adelana was advised by Mrs Ogunbowale alias Iya ijo to leave her daughter, Fathia Adelana to stay around the church premises for the period of spiritual cleansing when she arrived at the church for the first time on the 24th of November year 2025.
Since the arrival of Fathia Adelana at the church, the so called head and the founder of the church Oba Reverend Adeleye Johnson Sunday (07071765838 & 08143555871) has d£fil€d, molesting r@ping regularly, impregnated and ab©rted for Fathia Adelana at the age of 17 years old as we were informed.
Mrs Bolanle Bello lamented that her daughter confessed to her while she was at the point of death. Fathia said the pastor threatened that she will die any day or anytime she disclosed his in*******se with her with anybody even to her mother. Fathia said she thought otherwise that even if she is going to DAI let her confessed it to her mother . At this point, Fathia Adelana was complaining of severe back pain, stomach pain, and inability to stand unaded complained Mrs Bello Bolanle.
We were also informed that when Mrs Bello Bolanle confronted Mrs Ogunbowale, iya ijo (of the church) , allegedly asked Mrs Bello Bolanle to name her price for settlement as if r@pping a minor is also a minor case. The the IPOs, Esther and Biola allegedly aided the pastor and other suspects to evade prosecution and detained the victim and a witness Openly, claiming lack of evidence against the pastor.
The matter was reported at Alagbado police station by Mrs Bello Bolanle. Oba Rev Adeleye Johnson Sunday, Mrs Ogunbowale, the nurse that did the ab©rtion were all invited and wrote their statements under caution.
The IPO, officer Esther detained the survivor and a witness and even go to the extent of handcuffed them. She later arraigned Fathia Adelana (survivor) a witness, Mrs Ogunbowale (iya ijo) and the nurse that did the ab©rtion in court without the prime suspect. When Mrs Bello Bolanle asked the whereabout of the prime suspect, officer Esther claimed that both the mother and her daughter has no evidence against the so called pastor that d£fil€d her daughter. This led to the reason why Mrs Bello Bolanle withdraw from continue the case.
The IPO Esther still handcuffed Fathia and the witness threatening still to detain them unless Mrs Bello Bolanle, the mother of the victim swear affidavit to buttress her withdrawal exclaimed Mrs Bello Bolanle.
We were also informed that Officer Esther allegedly demanded for #250,000 from the mother of the victim if Mrs Bello Bolanle need justice for her case because she is aware that Mrs Bello Bolanle is not rich and later charged #10,000 per female suspects and #15,000 for a male suspects in court. She extorted #5,000 to record her statement among other extortion. She allegedly took photograph of the complainant and the witness but did not take the photograph of the suspects, and held their passports.
Then we, at committee for the defense of human right (Cdhr) petitioned the commissioner of police, Lagos State command headquarters through oc gender. ASP ESTHER of gender unit sent signal twice to DPO that they should bring all the parties involve but the IPOs are preventing and protecting the suspects to evade prosecution.
It is also at our disposal that instead of Oba Rev Adeleye Johnson Sunday to present himself before the OC GENDER, he ran to FCID Alagbon to perverse justice. We were duly informed that general investigation department has sent an invitation to Mrs Bello Bolanle as against the warning of IGP against Incessant transfer of cases, quotes; Ref No.CZ.5300/FPRD/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.6/340 in February 2025. The then IGP seriously warned that every activity of all unwarranted and unethical practice of transferring of ongoing cases and misusing of public office by certain officers and individuals must come to an end.
KEY ISSUES AND COMPLAINTS
1. Breach of Trust and Confidentiality of
Officers at alagbado Police Station
2. Undue Influence and Attempt to Pervert Justice
Instead of protecting the victim, both the police officers involved and the suspects’ parents have shown more concern for the suspects. There have been clear efforts to pressure the victim’s family into accepting money and abandoning the case.
3. Psychological and Social Harm to the Victim
Due to these actions, the victim has faced bullying, stigmatization, and rejection within her community and the church members.
This has affected her mental and physical health, disrupted her life activities, and forced her into isolation. Sadly, she recently attempted suicid€ as a result of the trauma and shame she has been subjected to.
4. Poor Handling and Questionable Transfer of the Case
After mishandling the case, officers at Alagbado Police Station advised that Oba Rev Adeleye Johnson Sunday should petition Mrs Bello Bolanle, the mother of the victim.
5. Failure of Duty by
Law enforcement officers who are expected to protect victims and uphold justice have instead worsened the situation, exposing the victim to more harm and weakening her chances of getting justice.
OUR DEMANDS
In view of the above, we respectfully call for the following:
1. A thorough, independent, and investigation into the d£fil£m£nt, r@pe, impregnate a minor and ab©rted for Fathia Adelana a 17 years old teenager without her consent' s case.
2. Immediate arrest, proper investigation, and prosecution of all the suspects in accordance with the law.
3. A full investigation into the conduct of the officers at Alagbado Police Station.
4. Disciplinary action and appropriate punishment for any police officers found guilty of misconduct, compromise, or breach of confidentiality.
5. Protection of the victim and her family from further harassment, intimidation, and exposure.
6. Provision of psychological and medical support for the victim.
7. Involvement of relevant women’s rights groups and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) organizations to ensure proper handling of the case.
8. Assurance of transparency and regular updates to the victim’s family regarding the progress of the case.
