VOLUNTARY EXIT: BBNaija Season 11 housemate Neche has voluntarily left the reality show after what organisers described as “pressing personal matters” requiring her immediate attention.

MultiChoice Nigeria and the Big Brother Naija production team confirmed that Neche left the house on Sunday, August 16, 2026, following her decision to exit the competition.

The organisers said they respected her decision and praised her energy, commitment and achievements during her time on the show.

“While we are sad to see her leave the house, we respect her decision and wish her continued success in her endeavours.”

The production team also assured Neche that she remains part of the BBNaija family, expressing confidence in what she will achieve beyond the reality show.

MASSIVE HAUL: The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed 329,865.585kg of assorted illicit drugs valued at an estimated ₦301.058 billion in Lagos.

The court-ordered destruction took place on Monday at Navy Town, Ojo, following orders from the Federal High Court, Lagos.

The drugs were recovered from concluded uncontested cases and abandoned seizures between April 2025 and May 2026 by various NDLEA commands operating in Lagos.

The substances included co***ne, he**in, methamphetamine, cannabis varieties, ephedrine, tramadol, codeine syrup, other opioids and khat leaves.

NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.) said the destruction demonstrated Nigeria’s determination to disrupt drug trafficking networks and prevent illicit drugs from reaching communities.

“Wherever you hide, whoever sponsors you and however sophisticated your network may be, the long arm of the law will reach you,” Marwa said.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the scale of the destruction as a “sobering reminder” of the threat illicit drugs pose to young people and communities.

Officials also warned that proceeds from drug trafficking can finance organised crime, terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other violent activities.

Affected candidates are advised to log into their JAMB profiles and check the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) for any outstanding admission offers.

Candidates who want the admission should  accept it, while those who do not should  reject the offer through CAPS.

JAMB urged candidates not to wait until the deadline before taking action, stressing that failure to respond within the stipulated period could result in the loss of their pending admission offers.

STAGGERING COST: UK-based Nigerian pastor and S**C Nation leader Pastor Tobi Adegboyega has claimed that he spends nothing less than ÂŁ300,000 daily on bills and other financial obligations.

He made the disclosure during a livestream with streamer Davrel, who asked about his approximate daily and monthly expenses.

“To be honest, nothing less than £300,000. We spend £14,000 daily on food, and I have an obligation to give African countries £5,000 every day.”

INEC RESPONSE: The Independent National Electoral Commission has dismissed claims of ghost or hired voters during the Osun governorship election, saying the BVAS system made such voting impossible.

INEC Chief Press Secretary, Dayo Oketola, said voters must be registered and accredited for a specific polling unit before they can vote, urging Nigerians to be cautious about unverified videos and information circulating online.

“With BVAS in play for any election in Nigeria, there is no room for ghost voters or hired voters.”

Oketola said the August 15 election recorded 50.116% voter turnout, describing it as higher than turnout recorded in other recent off-cycle elections.

He said the peaceful conclusion of the poll, despite tensions before the election, demonstrated what he described as the growing maturity of Nigeria’s democracy.

Oketola added that candidates dissatisfied with the result have the right to pursue legal remedies provided under the electoral laws.

Looking ahead to 2027, he said recent off-cycle elections had served as test runs for INEC’s preparedness, while calling on political parties, security agencies and other stakeholders to support credible elections.

RITUAL CLAIM: A 27-year-old man, Muktar Shehu, has been remanded in a correctional facility in Yola, Adamawa State, after he was allegedly caught with 22 pairs of a woman’s pants he reportedly stole for ritual purposes.

Shehu, a resident of Zango Ward, Jimeta, Yola North LGA, was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Court 3 on charges of house trespass, theft and criminal charm.

According to the First Information Report presented by the police prosecutor, Inspector Danjuma Hamidu, the defendant allegedly broke into the home of Halima Yakubu on August 6, 2026, and stole the 22 pants along with other clothing items.

The prosecutor told the court that Shehu allegedly admitted during interrogation that he took the underwear for ritual purposes.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the allegations, while the prosecution requested to call a witness to corroborate his plea.

Chief Magistrate Uwani Danladi subsequently ordered that Shehu be remanded at a correctional facility pending further proceedings.

DIVINE HELP: Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, elder brother of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has attributed the family’s victory in the governorship election to prayers rather than financial strength.

Speaking at a ceremony celebrating his brother’s victory, Deji Adeleke said the family did not defeat the opposition because it had more money or spent more than its rivals.

“The only reason why we defeated Oyetola is not because we are bigger, or we spend more money than him.”

He claimed he heard reports of massive spending and alleged vote-buying during the election, with some votes reportedly purchased for as much as N50,000.

According to him, he responded by praying that voters would collect any money offered to them but still vote for Ademola Adeleke.

“God Almighty, please let people collect their money, but let them still vote for Ademola Adeleke.”

Deji Adeleke also said he maintained a consistent prayer routine before the election, including reading passages from the Book of Isaiah, Chapter 41 vs 10, which he described as part of his spiritual practice.

Adeleke defeated APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji in the August 15 Osun governorship election to secure another term in office.

NEW SPEAKER: Yekini Idiaye, representing Akoko-Edo Constituency I, has emerged as the new Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly.

Idiaye, a third-term lawmaker, takes over from Blessing Agbebaku, who resigned on Monday amid moves by lawmakers to impeach him.

His emergence was reportedly influenced by the Assembly’s zoning arrangement, which provides that when the governor comes from Edo Central Senatorial District, the Speaker should come from Edo North.

Idiaye, described as the oldest member from Edo North in the Assembly, was subsequently elected Speaker.

The new Speaker said that without the zoning arrangement, the Deputy Speaker would have automatically succeeded Agbebaku.

Members of the Assembly reportedly visited the Government House to inform Governor Monday Okpebholo of the leadership change.

Agbebaku’s resignation came after 17 of the 24 lawmakers reportedly signed a notice of impeachment on Sunday night.

HONEST TALK: Nigerian singer Omah Lay has opened up about his smoking habit, saying he has stopped forcing himself to quit after previous attempts proved unsuccessful.

Speaking during an interview on the Zach Sang Show, the singer said he enjoys smoking and had previously tried to stop but could not sustain the effort.

“I love smoking a lot. I tried to stop; I forced myself but I can’t.”

Omah Lay said he no longer wants to put himself under pressure over the habit, explaining that his outlook on life influenced his decision.

“Life is one. I am going to just die one day. We are all going to die one day.”

The singer also said he wants to live without constantly battling himself over smoking, adding:

“I just want to be at peace and smoke my weed.”

He discussed the stigma surrounding ma*****na use in Nigeria, saying its illegal status can make young people who smoke feel criminalised.

Omah Lay described the feeling he gets from smoking as “artificial happiness”, while acknowledging that it is temporary.

“This is it. This is my life. I will just live it. I will enjoy every single thing that I have.”
