Some people are just online, but in reality, they know little or nothing about the subjects they talk about. They rush to conclusions and spread false narratives without understanding facts or tradition.

Let’s set the record straight. The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, is a left-handed monarch. That’s simply how he was created by God. Being a “lefty” doesn’t have any hidden meaning or mystery attached to it. It’s a natural trait and has nothing to do with spiritual practices or rituals as some misinformed people like to suggest.

Likewise, the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, was known for his consistent practice of covering his microphone with a white handkerchief whenever he addressed the public. That was his personal style and royal trademark since his ascension to the throne. It had no fe**sh implication whatsoever.

Now, the recent conversation about the new Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Olatunji Owoade, came up during the 90th birthday celebration of Sir Kessington Adebutu in Lagos. Some people noticed his gestures and immediately began to draw unnecessary comparisons with other traditional rulers, especially the Ooni of Ife and the late Alaafin Adeyemi.

The truth is, every monarch has his own personality, habits, and royal expression. Culture allows room for individuality. What one king does might differ from another, and that doesn’t make any of them less traditional or less royal.

Before people start creating stories or attaching meanings to things they don’t understand, they should learn to verify information and respect the uniqueness of each traditional ruler. Being informed is better than being loud online without knowledge.

So, once again, let’s get it right — not everything you see in royal gatherings has a secret meaning. Some of you just mix things up unnecessarily.

So-Safe Corps Appoints Adegunwa Adegbuyi as Director of Information, Promotes Kolawole Yusuf as Deputy State Commander

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps, has appointed Assistant Corps Commander, Adegunwa Adegbuyi, as its new Director of Information and Public Relations, while also elevating DCC Moruf Kolawole Yusuf to the position of Deputy State Commander.

The decoration ceremony, which took place on Monday at the State Headquarters, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, was conducted under the authority of the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, alongside the State Commander of the Corps, Dr. Soji Ganzallo.

Adegbuyi, who now heads the Information and Public Relations Directorate, was decorated alongside ACC Nurudeen Muibi, who assumes the role of Deputy Director, Intelligence and Investigation.

In his remarks, the State Commander, Dr. Ganzallo, described the promotions as well-deserved, stressing that they were based on dedication, sacrifice and outstanding contributions to the Corps.

“Your previous achievements and commitment in the Corps speak for you."

"This elevation is not achieved by chance but by hard work. To whom much is given, much is expected,” he said.

Ganzallo particularly praised the elevation of DCC Kolawole Yusuf, who now serves as Deputy State Commander, noting that his loyalty and professionalism had paved the way for the recognition.

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Akinlesi urged the newly promoted officers to justify the confidence reposed in them.

“You are now entrusted with greater authority and in equal measure, greater accountability will be required from you."

"You are expected to bring to bear your wealth of experience, leadership acumen and professionalism in discharging your duties for the progress of the Corps and the security of our dear state,” he stated.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, AIG Olusola Subair (Rtd.), represented by Mr. Biyi Odubote, commended the So-Safe Corps for its impact in strengthening security across Ogun State.

He reminded the officers that, “promotion is a pyramid, as you go higher the space becomes narrow.

"Even when every officer is performing, not all will be promoted because of the constraint of space."

"This is why you must see this elevation as both a privilege and a challenge to do more," he added.

On behalf of the promoted officers, Deputy State Commander Yusuf appreciated the State Commander and the leadership of the Corps for the trust bestowed on them.

He pledged that they would not relent in upholding the values and standards of the Corps.

The event was attended by dignitaries from sister security agencies and civil organisations, who witnessed the decoration and official presentation of appointment letters to the officers.

Lasile Marks Second Anniversary as Orunto of Owu Kingdom

The Orunto of Owu Kingdom, Chief (Dr) Abiodun Lasile, today marks his second anniversary as a coronated kingmaker and leading traditional chief in the ancient Owu Kingdom of Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Chief Lasile was formally installed as Orunto on Friday, September 22, 2023, and since then he has remained actively involved in the cultural, social, and developmental life of the kingdom.

Over the past two years, he works closely with the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola, and fellow chiefs, strengthening the institution of traditional leadership while promoting values of service, integrity, and compassion.

Reflecting on the anniversary, Chief Lasile describes the journey as both fulfilling and humbling.

“I am humbled by the opportunity to serve humanity. With a heart of selflessness and a creative mind, I remain committed to uplifting our people both at home and abroad,” he says.

The Baalufe of Owu Kingdom emphasizes that his leadership philosophy is rooted in inspiration and responsibility.

According to him, leadership must go beyond titles to impact lives. “Leadership is a daily test of service, commitment, and authority. Through compassionate leadership, I inspire others to join me in community work, fostering a culture of kindness and generosity,” he explains.

Chief Lasile points out that the role of the Orunto requires selfless service to both the monarch and the people.

He stresses that every position of influence carries a duty of accountability. “I will continue to uphold transparency and integrity, refusing to exploit my position for personal gains."

"My objective contributions at meetings and forums will remain dedicated to achieving meaningful resolutions for the good of our people,” he affirms.

Beyond his duties in the palace, Chief Lasile is also known for his passion for community development. He initiates programmes that touch lives, creates platforms for youth engagement, and supports initiatives that preserve culture while encouraging modern growth.

He believes traditional leadership should not only preserve heritage but also provide solutions to the pressing challenges of society.

Looking back on the past two years, Chief Lasile says his experiences have been enriching. “The last two years have been monumental, graceful, and to the glory of God. It has been a journey of learning, service, and dedication to the wellbeing of our people,” he reflects.

As he marks this milestone, the Orunto of Owu Kingdom restates his determination to remain a pillar of truth, fairness, and development within the kingdom.
