14 art exhibitions to see in Lagos this September 🎨

Looking for things to do in Lagos this month? From photography and portraiture to sculpture, memory, spirituality, youth culture and the realities of city life, September’s exhibition calendar has plenty worth seeing.

You can explore Stephen Tayo’s documentation of the Aladura movement, encounter Ruth Ige’s dreamlike blue worlds, discover emerging voices inspired by Nigerian skate and streetwear culture, or spend an afternoon gallery-hopping across Ikoyi and Victoria Island.

Most of the exhibitions are free, but some require an RSVP or appointment. Dates and visiting hours may also change, so confirm with the gallery before heading out.

Looking for authentic Igbo food in Lagos? 🍲

We visited Culture Kitchen, an Igbo dining and cultural experience serving traditional dishes including Ukwa with smoked catfish, Nkwobi, Ugba, Isiewu, Ngwo Ngwo, Fried Abacha and more.

The experience goes beyond the food too, with traditional-inspired interiors, Ludo while you wait and palm wine served in wooden cups.
