PRESS RELEASE

TINTED GLASS PERMIT: NPF FURTHER EXTENDS GRACE PERIOD FOR ENFORCEMENT TO OCTOBER 2, 2025
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has approved a further extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement for vehicles with tinted windows, with the new enforcement date now set for 2nd October, 2025.

This decision follows a significant surge in applications via the official portal, reflecting heightened public compliance with the directive. In light of this, the Force considers it imperative to allow sufficient time for the meticulous scrutiny of applications to ensure that the permit is issued only to eligible and qualified individuals, in line with national security considerations.

The extension will also provide room for the continued fine-tuning of verification processes, both digital and physical, to maintain the integrity of the permit system and prevent abuse. The Nigeria Police Force reaffirms that the authorized platform for the application remains possap.gov.ng and advises citizens to disregard any unofficial channels.

Members of the public are further encouraged to report all forms of extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorized processing to the appropriate Police authorities, including via the dedicated hotline: 08147818871.

The Nigeria Police Force appreciates the cooperation of the Nigerian people and remains committed to balancing public convenience with robust security measures for the safety of all.

āŒMistakes To Avoid When Driving

Mistakes that can damage a vehicle badly and put the owner on the hook for some huge repair bills.

1. Sliding The Vehicle Down A Slope In Neutral Mode.

This is a very common mistake when driving an automatic transmission car
This habit won’t let you accelerate the car except for slowing it down. It cuts the oil supply, so the transmission does not get the proper lubrication for smooth operation. It results in significant wear and damage. For that reason, we recommend discarding this habit since the repair costs don’t worth the negligible fuel savings.

2. Revving The Engine Before Switching To The Gear.
Automatic Gearbox

Revving the engine before switching to the gear is not a good habit for automatic car owners.
It gives the transmission a massive shock that leads to more friction between the internal components, causing damage to engine parts.

3. Shifting Gears When The Car Is Rolling (In Motion).

You cannot save fuel in this way
It makes your transmission components to change direction rapidly, wearing out the gearbox at an astounding pace. Use your brakes instead to stop the vehicle. Some people shift into Park without pushing the brakes, which is also bad for the gearbox.

4 . Keeping In Neutral At The Red Light

You will damage the car by doing this
Many people do this to save fuel and protect the driveline from unnecessary wear. In fact, the loss is minimal if you push the brakes by keeping the gearbox in Drive mode. The actual damage takes place when you switch into and out of the neutral mode.

5 . Switching Into The Parking Mode Before Completely Stopping The Car

You shouldn’t switch into the parking mode unless your car is completely stopped.
Shifting to the Park mode will cause a locking pin to be inserted into a gear attached to the output shaft of the gearbox. The wheels are also connected to the same shaft. So, when you lock it and keep the vehicle rolling/moving at the same time, there’s a risk of breaking the locking pin.

NB: D-S means Drive Sports. Can you switch from D to S while driving? Yes, you can switch from D to S mode while driving. In fact, most cars with an automatic transmission allow you to switch between different driving modes while the car is in motion.

Drive safely.
