WHO KILLED EDNA JONES?
(A High School Series)

Episode 14.

The dim glow from Lisa’s laptop screen barely lit the room, but the weight of what they had just uncovered was suffocating.

Omondi ran a hand down his face. "The headmaster… We always thought it was someone powerful, but this?"

Lisa swallowed hard. "If we go public with this, we’ll be signing our own death warrants."

Akinyi clenched her fists. "If we don’t, Edna and Cynthia’s deaths will be for nothing."

Silence hung between them.

The video evidence on the USB was undeniable. They finally had the truth. But exposing it was another matter entirely.

Then, Lisa’s phone vibrated. A single text message appeared.

Unknown Number: "You're getting too close. Stop now, or you'll end up like Edna."

Lisa’s breath hitched. "They know we have the footage."

Omondi’s jaw tightened. "That means they’re watching us."

Akinyi took a deep breath. "Then we have to act fast—before they do."

Morning came with a tense quietness. The school halls buzzed with their usual energy, but to Akinyi, Lisa, and Omondi, everything felt like a trap.

They needed more evidence. Something even the headmaster couldn't cover up.

Omondi leaned close to the girls. "The school keeps security footage from the dorms. If Edna was killed on campus, the footage might still be there."

Lisa hesitated. "Are you suggesting we break into the admin office?"

Akinyi exhaled. "Not just the office. We need to get into the surveillance room."

Omondi nodded. "We do it tonight."

They exchanged glances, knowing this could be the most dangerous move they had made yet.

Because if they were caught—there would be no escaping the consequences.

That night, under the cover of darkness, they made their move.

Lisa kept watch near the corridor while Omondi and Akinyi picked the lock to the admin office.

With a faint click, the door opened.

Akinyi’s heart pounded as they slipped inside. The room smelled of old books and paper, and at the far end, a single metal door marked "Security Archives" stood waiting.

Omondi turned to Lisa. "Stay out here. If anyone comes, signal us."

Lisa nodded, eyes darting nervously down the hall.

Akinyi and Omondi hurried to the metal door. It was locked.

"Damn it," Omondi cursed. "This one’s more secure."

Akinyi pulled out the makeshift key she had stolen from a janitor's locker earlier that day. With a quick twist—the door creaked open.

They stepped inside. Rows of computer monitors displayed live footage from the school. But what they needed was the archived recordings.

Omondi began searching through the digital files. "Got it. The night Edna died."

He clicked on the file. The footage played—and their blood ran cold.

The grainy black-and-white footage showed the school dorm hallway.

A timestamp flashed: 11:47 PM.

Then, Edna appeared on screen. She was walking quickly—looking over her shoulder as if someone was following her.

A few seconds later, another figure appeared.

A tall man dressed in black.

Lisa, watching from the doorway, gasped. "Who is that?"

Akinyi’s fingers gripped the desk. "We can’t see his face."

The footage continued. Edna turned a corner, panic evident in her steps.

The man followed.

And then—the screen glitched.

Omondi cursed. "What happened?"

The footage returned. But now, Edna was gone.

And in her place—a single dark stain on the floor.

Lisa covered her mouth in horror. "That’s… blood."

Omondi rewound the footage. "The moment she disappeared… the camera glitched."

Akinyi's stomach twisted. "That means someone tampered with the footage."

And only one person had the authority to do that.

The headmaster.

Before they could react, the sound of a key turning in the main office door sent a wave of panic through them.

Lisa turned to them, eyes wide. "Someone’s coming!"

Omondi yanked the USB from the computer. "We have to get out—now!"

Akinyi grabbed Lisa’s hand, and they bolted towards the back door of the archive room.

But before they could open it—

The lights flickered off.

Then a voice echoed from the doorway.

"You should have left this alone."

A shadowed figure stepped inside, blocking their only exit.

Omondi took a step forward. "Who are you?"

The figure chuckled.

Then stepped into the dim light.

And their hearts stopped.

It was Mark Njoroge.

The school’s top security officer.

And behind him—stood the headmaster.

Lisa whimpered. "We're trapped."

The headmaster smiled coldly. "Yes, you are."

TO BE CONTINUED…

NEW QUESTIONS ARISE:

What happened in the missing footage?

Is Mark Njoroge the real killer, or just another pawn?

How will Akinyi, Omondi, and Lisa escape?

WHO KILLED EDNA JONES?
(A High School Series)

Episode 13.

The video played on the cracked screen of Edna’s hidden phone, flickering in the dimly lit chemistry lab.

Lisa covered her mouth, her eyes wide with horror.

Omondi’s jaw tightened. “It’s them… It was them all along.”

Akinyi rewound the footage. There was no mistaking it.

The person in the video was standing near the abandoned sports shed, their face briefly illuminated by a flash of Edna’s camera.

A face they knew.

A face no one would have suspected.

The head boy of Westwood High.

Mark Njoroge.

Lisa shook her head in disbelief. “No… it can’t be him. He’s one of the best students. The principal trusts him. He’s… perfect.”

Akinyi exhaled sharply. “And that’s exactly why no one suspected him.”

Omondi rubbed his forehead. “But why would he kill Edna? What was she about to uncover?”

Lisa suddenly gasped. “Cynthia.”

Akinyi and Omondi turned to her.

Lisa swallowed hard. “I think Edna found out what happened to Cynthia before she died. And Mark… Mark had something to do with it.”

Omondi clenched his fists. “Then that means Cynthia’s death wasn’t a su***de. It was murder.”

The room fell silent.

Akinyi glanced at the phone. “We need to get out of here before someone finds us.”

But it was too late.

A soft click echoed through the room.

The door locked from the outside

Lisa ran to the door and yanked at the handle. “It won’t open!”

Omondi tried kicking it. Nothing.

Then—a voice from the other side.

“You shouldn’t have come here.”

Akinyi’s blood turned to ice.

They knew that voice.

Lisa’s breathing became ragged. “Mark…”

A shadow shifted in the small glass panel of the door.

“Give me the phone.” His voice was calm, controlled, but laced with menace.

Akinyi gripped the device tightly. “Why, Mark? Why did you do it?”

Silence.

Then, a dark chuckle. “You already know too much, detective.”

A rustling sound followed. Then—a strong scent filled the air.

Lisa coughed violently.

Omondi’s head spun. “Gas—he’s pumping gas into the room!”

Akinyi stumbled backward. They had walked right into a trap.

Mark’s voice drifted through the door. “Goodbye, detectives.

The gas thickened, burning their lungs.

Lisa collapsed to the floor.

Omondi struggled to stay on his feet. “We need… to break… the window…”

Akinyi forced herself to stay conscious. She grabbed a stool and swung it at the small window above the door.

CRASH!

Fresh air rushed in.

Lisa coughed violently but managed to lift herself up.

Omondi helped her climb through the shattered glass.

Then he pushed Akinyi through.

Just as he was about to follow—

A hand grabbed his shirt.

Mark.

Omondi struggled, gasping. Mark was stronger than he looked.

“Going somewhere?” Mark sneered.

Lisa screamed. “Omondi!”

Akinyi reached back in and grabbed Omondi’s arm. “Hold on!”

Mark tried pulling him back into the room. But Omondi kicked him hard in the stomach.

Mark staggered. That single second was enough.

Omondi pulled himself through the window.

They fell into the school courtyard, gasping for air.

Akinyi turned back to see Mark staring at them from inside the lab.

His expression was calm. Cold. Emotionless.

Then—he smirked.

“This isn’t over.”

And then he vanished into the shadows.

Lisa was still shaking when they returned to the station.

Akinyi placed Edna’s phone on the desk.

Omondi exhaled. “Mark knows we have evidence now. He’ll do anything to silence us.”

Lisa, still pale, whispered, “What if Mark didn’t act alone?”

Akinyi looked at her. “What do you mean?”

Lisa’s hands trembled. “Mark may have killed Edna… but I think someone else told him to.”

Omondi’s eyes narrowed. “You think there’s someone more powerful behind him?”

Lisa nodded.

Then, she hesitated before whispering, “Edna’s parents.”

The room went completely silent.

Akinyi’s voice was sharp. “What are you saying?”

Lisa licked her lips. “Edna’s father is one of the most powerful businessmen in the country. He controls politicians, police… even criminals. What if… what if Edna found out something about her own family?”

Omondi’s heartbeat quickened. “And Mark was just a pawn?”

Lisa nodded.

Akinyi sat back, deep in thought.

If Lisa was right…

Then the real mastermind was someone even deadlier than Mark.

And they weren’t just fighting against a killer.

They were fighting against a powerful empire that could erase them all

As the three sat in silence, a soft vibration broke the tension.

Edna’s phone… was ringing.

Akinyi grabbed it.

Unknown Caller.

She hesitated—then answered.

A voice, deep and commanding, spoke.

“Detective Akinyi… walk away from this case.”

Omondi leaned in. “Who is this?”

The voice ignored him.

“If you continue… Lisa will be the next to die.”

Lisa’s face drained of color.

Then—click. The call ended.

The three stared at each other.

They weren’t just being threatened anymore.

They were being hunted.

TO BE CONTINUED…

QUESTIONS REMAIN:

Is Mark Njoroge really the killer, or is he just a pawn?

Did Edna’s own father order her murder?

Will Akinyi, Omondi, and Lisa survive long enough to uncover the truth?

The mystery deepens… but danger is closing in.

WHO KILLED EDNA JONES?
(A High School Series)

Episode 12

Detective Akinyi barely had time to react.

Another gunshot rang out!

Omondi grabbed Lisa, shoving her behind the couch as glass shattered. Akinyi dove to the ground, drawing her gun.

Mr. Kibet lay motionless on the floor, his blood staining the carpet.

The shooter was still outside.

Omondi motioned to Akinyi. “We have to move—NOW!”

Akinyi nodded. She peeked through the broken window—a black car with tinted windows was speeding away.

Whoever just killed Kibet was gone

The next morning, the case took a terrifying turn.

A brown envelope was delivered to the police station, addressed to Akinyi and Omondi.

Inside was a single piece of paper with four chilling words:

"DROP THE CASE OR DIE."

Taped to the back was a photograph.

Lisa Mwangi.

Her face circled in red ink.

Omondi clenched his fists. "They’re targeting Lisa now."

Lisa, sitting in the corner of the station, turned pale. “I need protection.”

Akinyi nodded. “We’ll keep you safe. But we won’t stop.”

She knew one thing for sure—Edna Jones’ murder was no ordinary crime.

Whoever was behind this had power.

And they were willing to kill again.

Akinyi and Omondi returned to Westwood High School, determined to dig deeper.

The students whispered as they walked past. Fear hung in the air.

Something wasn’t right.

Then, a nervous voice called out behind them.

“Detectives… wait.”

They turned.

It was Joel, one of Edna’s classmates. He looked around anxiously, as if afraid someone was watching him.

“There’s something you need to know,” he whispered.

Omondi narrowed his eyes. “What is it?”

Joel hesitated. Then he said:

“Edna had a second phone. She hid it somewhere in the school.”

Akinyi’s pulse quickened. “Do you know where?”

Joel nodded slowly. “Yes. But if they find out I told you… I’m dead.”

That night, Akinyi and Omondi returned to the school under the cover of darkness.

Joel had given them clear directions—the phone was hidden inside an old chemistry textbook in the abandoned lab.

The school was eerily silent.

Lisa, who insisted on coming along, clutched Akinyi’s arm. “Something doesn’t feel right.”

They reached the old chemistry lab.

Omondi pushed the door open—it creaked loudly.

Inside, dust covered everything. Shelves lined the walls, filled with old textbooks.

Akinyi’s flashlight scanned the room.

Then—her beam landed on a stack of books on the teacher’s desk.

She moved closer, heart pounding. There it was—an old, tattered chemistry textbook.

Akinyi carefully picked it up and flipped through the pages.

Then—a phone slid out.

Lisa gasped. “She really hid it.”

Omondi powered it on. A lock screen appeared.

Lisa bit her lip. “What if Edna left a password hint?”

Akinyi thought for a moment. Then she typed:

CYNTHIA.

The screen unlocked instantly.

Omondi sucked in a breath. “Edna was trying to tell us something.”

Akinyi opened the gallery.

The first video made her blood run cold.

It was footage of Edna’s real killer.

The video was short, grainy, but clear enough.

Edna was filming from behind a locker, whispering.

“I knew it. I knew it was you all along.”

Then the camera shifted—and a figure came into view.

Lisa let out a choked gasp.

Akinyi froze.

Omondi’s breath caught in his throat.

The killer… was someone they never suspected.

It was—

QUESTIONS REMAIN:

Who is the real killer?

Why did they kill Edna—and Cynthia before her?

What dark secret is hidden inside Westwood High School?

And who will be the next to die?

The truth is almost out… but will they survive long enough to expose it?

WHO KILLED EDNA JONES?
(A High School Series)

Episode 11.

Detective Akinyi stared at the small black USB in her palm, her fingers trembling slightly. The weight of Edna Jones’ murder, the missing pieces of the puzzle, and the fear in Lisa Mwangi’s eyes made her realize—this drive held the truth.

She glanced at Detective Omondi, who had just returned to the office with two cups of coffee.

“We need to see what’s on this,” she whispered.

Omondi nodded and plugged the USB into his laptop.

The screen flickered. A single video file appeared.

"PLAY IT," Lisa urged, her voice barely above a whisper.

Omondi clicked.

The grainy footage loaded.

The video was dark and shaky, as if filmed secretly.

Then—Edna Jones’ face appeared.

She looked scared. Her breathing was uneven. She held the camera close to her face, whispering.

"If you’re watching this… something has happened to me."

Lisa gasped, covering her mouth. Akinyi and Omondi leaned forward.

"I found out the truth," Edna continued. "They think no one remembers, but I do. Cynthia Okello didn’t just disappear five years ago. She was murdered. And now, I know who did it."

Omondi tensed.

Edna glanced over her shoulder, checking if someone was following her.

"It was never an accident," she whispered. "And it wasn’t just one person. It was—"

Suddenly, the screen went black.

The video ended.

Silence filled the room.

Lisa's hands trembled. "She was about to say the killer’s name!"

Akinyi clenched her fists. "Someone erased the rest of the video. But who?"

Omondi exhaled sharply. "Whoever killed Edna… didn’t just want her dead. They wanted to erase everything she found out."

Before they could process what had just happened, Omondi’s phone buzzed.

Unknown Number.

He answered. “Hello?”

A deep, distorted voice spoke.

"Stop investigating Edna Jones… or you’re next."

Then the line went dead.

Akinyi’s breath caught in her throat.

Lisa clutched her chest. “They know! They know we have the flash drive!”

Omondi clenched his jaw. "And they’re watching us."

A cold realization washed over them.

The killer was still out there. And now, they were hunting the detectives, too.

Determined, Omondi and Akinyi stormed into Principal Otieno’s office the next morning.

"You knew about Cynthia Okello’s murder, didn’t you?" Akinyi demanded.

Otieno’s face turned pale. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."

Omondi slammed a photo on his desk. It was a newspaper clipping from five years ago—"LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL GIRL MISSING—PRESUMED RUNAWAY."

Cynthia Okello.

The girl Edna had been investigating before she died.

Otieno swallowed hard. "This case is closed. Cynthia ran away."

Akinyi leaned in. "No, she didn’t. She was murdered. And Edna found out who did it."

Otieno hesitated. Then, in a low voice, he said:

“There are things happening in this school that are bigger than you.”

Omondi’s stomach twisted. “What do you mean?”

Otieno glanced at the door, then whispered:

"Cynthia knew something about the school… something that got her killed. Edna was getting too close. Now, you are too."

Akinyi’s blood ran cold.

Omondi clenched his fists.

This was bigger than just a high school rivalry.

It was a cover-up.

And someone was willing to kill to keep it buried

As they left the principal’s office, Lisa stopped abruptly. "There’s something I never told you."

Akinyi frowned. "What is it?"

Lisa hesitated, then whispered, "The night before Edna died… I saw her arguing with someone behind the school building."

Omondi’s eyes darkened. “Who?”

Lisa hesitated.

Then she spoke a name that sent chills down their spines.

"Mr. Kibet. The Chemistry teacher.

That evening, Omondi and Akinyi went to Mr. Kibet’s house.

He opened the door, looking confused. "Detectives? What brings you here?"

Akinyi didn’t waste time. "Where were you the night Edna was killed?"

Kibet’s expression flickered for a second. "I… I was at home."

Omondi stepped closer. "We know you argued with Edna the night before she died. What was it about?"

Kibet’s face turned pale. "Who told you that?"

Akinyi folded her arms. "Why don’t you answer the question?"

Kibet swallowed. His forehead glistened with sweat.

Then he whispered:

"Edna found out about Cynthia’s death… because I told her."

Silence.

Akinyi’s heart pounded. "You told her? Why?"

Kibet exhaled. "Because I was there when Cynthia died."

Kibet sat down, his hands shaking.

"It was five years ago. Cynthia Okello was my student. She was brilliant. But she got caught up in something she wasn’t supposed to."

Omondi narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean?"

Kibet looked up, his eyes haunted.

"Cynthia had proof that the school was involved in something illegal. She threatened to expose them."

Akinyi’s breath hitched. "Who is 'them'?"

Kibet hesitated, then whispered:

"The people who run this school."

Akinyi and Omondi exchanged glances.

This wasn’t just about high school students.

This was about power. Corruption. And murder.

Kibet wiped his forehead. "The night Cynthia died… she didn’t run away. She was taken."

Lisa gasped. "Taken by who?"

Kibet’s voice dropped lower.

"The same people who killed Edna."

A heavy silence filled the room.

Akinyi’s pulse raced. "Who are they, Kibet? Who killed Edna Jones?"

Kibet looked at them.

His lips parted—

But before he could speak—

BANG!

A gunshot shattered the window.

Kibet slumped forward.

Blood pooled on his chest.

Lisa screamed.

Omondi and Akinyi spun around, drawing their weapons.

But it was too late.

The killer had just silenced another witness.

TO BE CONTINUED…

Who is behind the murders?

What did Cynthia and Edna discovery?

The truth is dangerous…

And someone is willing to kill to keep it hidden.

WHO KILLED EDNA JONES?
(A High School Series)

Episode 10.

Detectives Omondi and Akinyi drove in silence toward the abandoned warehouse. The darkness of the night stretched ahead of them like a never-ending void.

Akinyi tapped her fingers nervously against the dashboard. "This feels wrong, Omondi. Why would a killer give us Lisa's location?"

Omondi kept his eyes on the road. "They could be leading us into a trap… or they're getting rid of witnesses and want us to find another body."

Akinyi swallowed hard.

They both knew what that meant.

Lisa Mwangi might already be dead

When they arrived at the warehouse, the place was eerily quiet. The wind howled through the broken windows, sending chills down Akinyi’s spine.

Omondi gripped his gun as they stepped inside. “Stay close.”

Akinyi nodded, her heart pounding.

Their flashlights cut through the darkness. Dust swirled in the air as they moved cautiously through the abandoned building.

Then Akinyi saw it—a figure tied to a chair in the middle of the room.

Lisa Mwangi.

Her head hung limply, her wrists bound with rope.

Akinyi rushed forward, her breath catching in her throat. “Lisa! Lisa, can you hear me?”

Lisa groaned weakly, her eyelids fluttering open.

Omondi quickly cut the ropes, freeing her. “Lisa, who did this to you?”

Lisa's lips trembled as she tried to speak.

Then suddenly—BANG!

A loud gunshot echoed through the warehouse.

The detectives dropped to the floor, shielding Lisa.

The bullet missed them by inches, embedding itself in a rusted metal beam.

Someone was still there. Watching them.

Akinyi grabbed her gun, scanning the shadows.

But the shooter was already gone.

Back at the station, Lisa sat wrapped in a blanket, her hands still trembling.

Omondi placed a cup of tea in front of her. “Lisa, you need to tell us everything. Who kidnapped you? What did you find out before Edna was killed?”

Lisa’s eyes darted around the room, as if afraid someone was listening.

Then, in a shaky voice, she whispered, “It’s bigger than you think.”

Akinyi leaned forward. “What do you mean?”

Lisa took a deep breath. “Edna didn't just die because of Karen. There’s someone else… someone powerful. Edna found out something she wasn't supposed to know.”

Omondi’s expression darkened. “What did she find out?”

Lisa hesitated, then whispered, “That our school… our school is hiding a terrible secret.”

Akinyi’s stomach twisted.

“What secret?”

Lisa licked her dry lips. "A secret that got Edna killed. And if we don’t stop them, more people will die.”

The next morning, Omondi and Akinyi met with Principal Mr. Otieno, demanding answers.

Mr. Otieno, a tall, stern-looking man, folded his arms. “Detectives, I understand your concerns, but Edna’s death was a tragedy. What more do you need from us?”

Omondi leaned forward. “We believe there’s a hidden truth about your school. Something Edna discovered before she was murdered.”

Mr. Otieno’s face hardened. “That’s nonsense.”

Akinyi narrowed her eyes. “Then why was Lisa Mwangi kidnapped? Why was the autopsy report stolen?”

Mr. Otieno’s jaw tightened.

A long silence stretched between them.

Then he sighed. “Fine. There is something you should know.”

Omondi and Akinyi held their breath.

“Edna was investigating something before she died. She came to my office two days before her murder.”**

Akinyi’s pulse quickened. “Investigating what?”

Mr. Otieno hesitated, then said:

"The disappearance of a former student… five years ago."

A silence heavier than a storm filled the room.

Omondi’s mind raced. “What former student?”

Mr. Otieno’s eyes darkened.

“Her name was Cynthia Okello. And she was murdered too.”

Akinyi’s blood ran cold.

Two murders. Five years apart.

Connected.

Edna had been digging up a murder from the past.

And someone had killed her to bury the truth.

That evening, Lisa knocked on Akinyi’s office door.

Her face was pale.

“Detective… I remember something else.”

Akinyi motioned for her to sit. “What is it?”

Lisa took a deep breath. “The night before Edna died… she gave me a flash drive.”

Akinyi’s heart pounded. “What was on it?”

Lisa reached into her pocket and pulled out a small, black USB.

Her voice shook.

“She said… if anything happened to her, I should give this to the police.”

Akinyi slowly took the flash drive.

This was it.

The final piece of the puzzle.

Whatever was on this drive…

Would reveal who killed Edna Jones.

And why.

TO BE CONTINUED…

What’s on Edna’s flash drive?

How is Cynthia Okello’s death connected?

The truth is near.

But so is the killer.

WHO KILLED EDNA JONES?
(A High School Series)

Episode 9.

Karen sat motionless, her fingers gripping the edges of her chair. Detective Omondi and Akinyi watched her closely, waiting.

Finally, Akinyi spoke, her voice calm but firm. “Karen, you didn’t act alone. Who was with you?”

Karen’s breathing grew shallow.

“I… I can’t.”

Omondi leaned forward. “You’re already in deep, Karen. Lying won’t save you. We know Edna's death wasn’t just an accident.”

Karen swallowed hard. “I swear, I didn’t mean to hurt her. But…” she hesitated, her hands shaking.

“But what?” Akinyi pressed.

Karen’s voice was barely above a whisper.

“Someone else was there.”

Omondi and Akinyi exchanged a glance.

Akinyi pulled out a notebook. “Who?”

Karen’s lips quivered. Her eyes darted toward the two-way mirror behind them, as if expecting someone to be watching.

Then, in a trembling voice, she uttered a name.

“It was…”

Before she could finish, a loud BANG! echoed from outside.

The lights flickered.

A commotion erupted in the hallway.

A uniformed officer burst into the room.

“Detectives! There’s been a break-in at the evidence room!”

Omondi shot up from his chair. “What?!”

The officer nodded, out of breath. “Someone just stole the case files. Including Edna’s autopsy report.”

Karen’s face drained of color.

Akinyi’s blood ran cold. “Someone doesn’t want the truth coming out.”

Omondi and Akinyi rushed to the evidence room. The door had been forced open, and several cabinets were ransacked.

Officer Kamau, the station’s evidence clerk, stood with a deep frown. “This wasn’t a random break-in. They knew exactly what they were looking for.”

Omondi scanned the shelves. The file with Edna’s toxicology report was missing.

Akinyi exhaled sharply. “Why would someone steal the autopsy report?”

Kamau hesitated before answering. “Unless… unless Edna didn’t just die from head trauma.”

Omondi’s jaw tightened. “Are you saying she was poisoned?”

Kamau nodded grimly. “We were waiting on lab results. But if someone stole that report…”

Akinyi finished his sentence. “It means Edna was murdered in a way we didn’t realize.”

That night, Karen sat alone in her holding cell, staring at the floor.

A soft knock sounded on the iron bars.

She looked up.

A tall figure in a hoodie stood there, hidden in the shadows.

Karen’s eyes widened in terror. “What are you doing here?”

The figure didn’t answer immediately.

Then, in a low, threatening voice, they whispered:

“You talk… and you die.”

Karen’s breath hitched.

The figure slipped something into the cell—a crumpled piece of paper—then disappeared into the darkness.

With shaking hands, Karen unfolded it.

There was just one sentence written in bold, red ink.

"She wasn’t the only one who had to die."

Karen gasped.

She knew exactly what it meant.

Another murder was about to happen.

The next morning, Omondi and Akinyi received a disturbing report.

A student from Edna’s school was missing.

Her name? Lisa Mwangi.

She was one of Edna’s closest friends.

Akinyi’s hands trembled as she scrolled through Lisa’s last messages.

The final text she sent—to Edna—on the night of the murder.

Lisa: "Edna, I found something crazy. Meet me tomorrow. I think I know who’s behind everything."

She never got a response.

Because Edna was already dead.

Omondi’s voice was grim. “Lisa knew the truth too.”

Akinyi nodded. “And now she’s missing.”

Omondi clenched his fists.

“Whoever killed Edna is cleaning up loose ends.”

That evening, Omondi received an anonymous message.

A single location was pinned.

An abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town.

The message had no name, no signature.

Just three chilling words.

“Find Lisa fast.”

Akinyi grabbed her coat. “We don’t have time to wait. Let’s go.”

Omondi hesitated. “It could be a trap.”

Akinyi’s eyes burned with determination. “And if we don’t go, Lisa might be dead by morning.”

They had no choice.

The real killer was still out there.

And this time, they were hunting their next victim

TO BE CONTINUED…

Who stole Edna’s autopsy report?

What did Lisa Mwangi discover?

And who is the hooded figure silencing witnesses?

The mystery deepens.

WHO KILLED EDNA JONES?
(A High School Series)

Episode 8.

Detectives Omondi and Akinyi sat in the dimly lit station, staring at the whiteboard filled with Edna Jones’ case details.

Daniel Jones’ name was circled in red. The missing brother, the runaway from the rehab center, the last person Edna contacted before she died.

But was he really the killer?

Or was someone deliberately making it look that way?

Akinyi tapped a pen against her notebook. “Let’s go back to the beginning. Why was Edna killed?”

Omondi exhaled. “She was looking for her brother. Maybe she found something she wasn’t supposed to.”

Akinyi’s brows furrowed. “Like what?”

Silence.

Then Omondi grabbed his phone and scrolled through the crime scene photos again. He paused at one particular image.

Edna’s bracelet.

It was found on the floor next to her body, snapped in half.

He zoomed in. There was something etched inside the broken piece.

A set of initials.

D.J.

Omondi’s jaw tightened. Daniel Jones.

Akinyi frowned. “That doesn’t prove he killed her.”

Omondi nodded. “But it proves she found him.”

The forensic team had been combing through Edna’s phone for weeks.

That night, they found something.

A deleted voice note.

It was timestamped just hours before her death.

The team recovered the audio and played it.

Edna’s voice was frantic.

"I know the truth now. I found you. I know what happened that night. But I need proof. I’m going back to the school basement. Meet me there."

A second voice, muffled, responded.

"Edna, you don’t understand. You’re putting yourself in danger."

Edna’s voice was firm. "Then tell me everything, Daniel. Tell me who killed them. Tell me why."

Silence.

Then the call ended.

Akinyi sat up straight. “Them?”

Omondi clenched his jaw. “She wasn’t just talking about herself. There were other victims.”

They rushed back to the school.

The abandoned basement was locked, but the janitor, an old man named Mr. Mburu, handed them the key with a strange look.

“I warned that girl to stay away,” he muttered.

Omondi and Akinyi exchanged a glance.

“Why?” Akinyi asked.

Mburu hesitated. “Bad things happen down there. And they always get covered up.”

A chill ran through Omondi’s spine.

They unlocked the door and stepped inside.

Dust and cobwebs filled the air, but something felt off.

Akinyi’s flashlight landed on a stack of old, yellowing files.

She picked one up and gasped.

A file on missing students.

And one name stood out.

Nadia Kimani.

A girl who had vanished from the school five years ago.

Omondi’s voice was barely a whisper. “Edna knew.”

She had uncovered a buried secret.

And someone had killed her for it

They took the files back to the station and pored over them.

Nadia Kimani had disappeared in her final year. The school never reported her missing—it was classified as a dropout case.

Akinyi tapped a report. “Look at this. The night she disappeared, she had a meeting with the principal.”

Omondi’s stomach tightened. “And guess who was the principal at the time?”

Akinyi’s voice was grim. “Mr. Jones.”

Edna’s father.

Omondi stormed into the Jones mansion.

Mr. Jones was sipping whiskey, completely unfazed.

“Detective. How can I help you?”

Omondi’s patience was gone. “We found the files. We know about Nadia Kimani.”

Mr. Jones barely reacted.

Akinyi leaned forward. “Edna knew too, didn’t she?”

For the first time, Mr. Jones sighed.

“Edna was always too curious. She should have left the past where it belongs.”

Omondi clenched his fists. “Did you kill her?”

Mr. Jones chuckled. “Do you really think I’d get my hands dirty?”

Omondi’s heart pounded. “Then who did it?”

Jones smirked. “You’re looking in the wrong place, Detective.”

His voice was calm. Too calm.

And that’s when Omondi realized—

Mr. Jones didn’t kill Edna. But he knew exactly who did.

A forensic analyst burst into the office the next morning.

“We ran a new DNA test. There’s another sample under Edna’s nails.”

Omondi froze. “Whose is it?”

The analyst handed him the report.

A name was written at the top.

A familiar name.

KAREN MUTUA.

One of Edna’s friend.

Akinyi’s eyes widened. “Karen?”

They brought Karen in for questioning.

At first, she was calm.

Then they showed her the DNA report.

Her hands trembled.

Omondi’s voice was sharp. “Why did you kill her?”

Karen swallowed. “I didn’t mean to.”

Silence.

Then she broke down.

“Edna wouldn’t stop digging. She was going to ruin everything.”

Akinyi leaned forward. “Ruin what?”

Karen’s voice shook. “Nadia Kimani was my sister.”

Omondi’s eyes widened.

“Your sister?”

Karen sobbed. “Mr. Jones covered up her disappearance. He said she ran away, but I always knew something was wrong. I spent years trying to forget. But then Edna started asking questions. She found the files. She wanted justice.”

Akinyi’s voice was low. “And you didn’t?”

Karen’s face twisted. “I wanted revenge. But not like this.”

Omondi pressed. “Tell us what happened.”

Karen took a shaky breath.

“Edna called me that night. She said she found something huge. She was going to confront Mr. Jones.”

Akinyi whispered. “But she never made it.”

Karen nodded. “I followed her. Tried to stop her. We argued. She… she said she would expose everything.”

Omondi’s pulse quickened. “So you killed her?”

Tears streamed down Karen’s face.

“I pushed her. She hit her head. It was an accident. I swear.”

Silence.

Then Omondi spoke.

“You’re lying.”

Karen’s face turned pale.

Akinyi leaned in. “You didn’t just push her, did you?”

Karen’s breath hitched.

And for the first time, they saw it.

The fear in her eyes.

Because she wasn’t alone that night.

And the real killer was still out there.

TO BE CONTINUED…

If Karen didn’t kill Edna alone, who helped her?

What happened to Nadia Kimani?

And what dark secrets is Mr. Jones still hiding?

The truth is almost out.

But someone will do anything to keep it buried.

Stay tuned… the mystery isn’t over yet.
