The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee investigating the Presidential Foreign Intervention/Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) has summoned the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), several ministers, heads of government agencies and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to appear before it on Thursday as lawmakers deepen their probe into the controversial council.
Committee Chairman Rep. Yusuf Gagdi issued the summons after the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, testified on the council's establishment, staffing, office allocation and funding.
According to Gagdi, the SGF is expected to explain how office space under the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation came to be occupied by the PFIPC.
"The Secretary to the Government of the Federation is expected to explain how office accommodation allocated to his office was occupied by the Presidential Foreign Intervention/Investment Promotion Council," Gagdi said.
He added that the IGP would update the committee on the police investigation into the matter.
The committee also summoned the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Accountant-General of the Federation, the Budget Office, the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, and the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission to explain their roles.
It further directed the Nigeria Police Force to produce Patricia Akibe and Joko Oduwayefe before the panel.
The House is investigating how more than ₦1.3 billion was allocated in the 2026 budget to the PFIPC, a body the Presidency has said was never legally established.
