Sujimoto CEO Accused of ₦5.7bn Fraud in Enugu

The Enugu State Government says Sujimoto boss, Olasijibomi Ogundele, defrauded the state of nearly ₦6bn meant for the construction of 22 Smart Green Schools.

According to the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Malachy Agbo, Sujimoto was paid 50% of the ₦11.4bn contract in July 2024 but abandoned the sites after doing substandard work.

The state alleged he presented a Jaiz Bank bond but diverted the funds into a Zenith Bank account—proof of a “premeditated fraud.”

EFCC inspections in May 2025 showed most sites were left at foundation/DPC level. The government has since revoked the contract, reassigned the schools, and vowed to recover every kobo.

The Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) has fixed Saturday, September 26, 2026, for local government elections across the state’s 17 councils.

Voters will head to the polls to decide 17 chairmanship seats and 260 ward councillorship positions—a major step toward deepening grassroots democracy in Enugu.

In a statement, ENSIEC Chairman, Prof. Christian Ngwu, called on all registered political parties and citizens to prepare for the exercise. He further assured the public of the commission’s commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible elections in strict compliance with legal provisions and court directives.
