At the ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Workshop in Enugu, Governor Peter Mbah (represented by his deputy, Ifeanyi Ossai) called for dedicated financing schemes for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) — independent of commercial banks — to help local businesses compete fairly across West Africa. 🌍

He stressed that the South East thrives on trade and entrepreneurship and urged financial institutions to support and protect local manufacturers.

Also speaking, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu highlighted the importance of deepening regional integration and empowering SMEs, describing them as “the engine room of Nigeria’s economy.” ⚙️

ENUGU GOVT WARNS HEALTH WORKERS ⚠️

Enugu State Commissioner for Health, Dr. George Ugwu, has sounded a strong warning to health workers — no more negligence or absenteeism! 🚫

During an unscheduled visit to Agbani General Hospital in Nkanu West LGA, alongside officials from the Ministry of Health and WHO, Dr. Ugwu stressed that the era of indifference to duty is over.

He inspected hospital facilities, equipment, and patient care, ordering immediate fixes where lapses were found. 🏥💪

The commissioner also praised the Nkanu West Council Chairman, John Ogbodo, for the ongoing renovations and landscaping projects at the hospital. 🌿

ENUGU TO HOST ECOWAS TRADE WORKSHOP FOR SOUTH-EAST BUSINESSES 🌍💼

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, is calling on business owners across the South-East to take advantage of the duty-free trade opportunities under the ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Scheme (ETLS) to expand their markets across West Africa.

The sensitisation workshop holds October 28, 2025, at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, in collaboration with the Enugu State Government.

This initiative will empower Enugu-based entrepreneurs, SMEs, and exporters to access regional markets without import duties, driving local production, job creation, and industrial growth.

Governor Peter Mbah will serve as the chief host, while Amb. Odumegwu-Ojukwu will officially declare the event open.
