Who Is on the Lord’s Side?
The question *“Who is on the Lord’s side?”* echoes through the ages, first posed by Moses in Exodus 32:26. After descending from Mount Sinai and witnessing the Israelites worshiping the golden calf, Moses stood at the camp’s entrance and called out, *“Whoever is on the Lord’s side—come to me!”* (NKJV). This call was a decisive challenge, separating those committed to God from those who followed idolatry and rebellion. Today, that same question demands an answer from each of us.
Being on the Lord's side means unwavering allegiance to Him, even when it’s unpopular or costly. Jesus made this clear in Matthew 6:24 when He said, *“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other”* (NKJV). Loyalty to God requires rejecting the temptations of the world and choosing to live in obedience to His Word.
In Joshua 24:15, Joshua presented a similar challenge to the Israelites: *“Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve... But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”* (NKJV). This choice is not a one-time decision but a daily commitment to walk in faith, trust, and holiness. Being on the Lord’s side involves standing firm against sin and proclaiming His truth with boldness and love.
In the New Testament, Jesus highlighted the significance of this choice: *“He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad”* (Matthew 12:30, NKJV). Neutrality is not an option. To be on the Lord’s side is to actively follow Him, abide in His teachings, and fulfill the mission of spreading the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
Who is on the Lord’s side? This is not a question of mere words but of action. It’s about living a life that reflects Christ, aligning with His will, and standing as His witness in a world that desperately needs Him. As we examine our hearts today, let us commit anew to serving God wholeheartedly, declaring like Joshua, *“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”*
Choose wisely. The Lord's side is the side of victory, truth, and eternal life.
