Actor and musician Idris Elba was officially knighted by King Charles III at Windsor Castle, earning the title Sir Idris Elba.

But this wasn’t only for the roles that made him a global name.

The honor came for what he did off-screen. Through the Elba Hope Foundation, Idris threw his weight behind anti-knife crime campaigns in the UK. He used his platform to talk to young people, fund youth centers, and push for real solutions to violence in his community.

In Africa, he’s investing back into his roots. He’s building a film studio and eco-resort in Sierra Leone to grow the continent’s film industry and create jobs at home 🇸🇱.

He’s a British icon with a Sierra Leonean father 🇸🇱 and Ghanaian mother 🇬🇭.

From Hackney to Hollywood to Buckingham Palace, he proved that talent opens doors, but impact builds legacies.

One of Africa’s finest exports 👏

Owo massacre. Justice came. But the pain remains.đź’”

From the 1930s-1960s, Kano, Kafanchan, and Zaria rose with 15-meter towers of burlap sacks. No cranes. No mortar. Just harvest, sweat, and rail yards. Each “pyramid” held 15,000 bags. Nigeria was the planet’s groundnut capital.

Then the ground shifted.

1956: Oil found at Oloibiri, South South Nigeria.
1970s: Crude became king.

Money left the farms. Attention left the rail yards. Drought and disease hit the crops. The pyramids crumbled, sack by sack.

Egypt’s pyramids still stand after 4,500 years.
Nigeria’s pyramids disappeared in 20.

One of the greatest tragedies of oil discoveries.

Alhassan Dantata was West Africa’s richest man from the 1920s to the 1950s.

He built the Kano Groundnut Pyramids and dealt in kolanuts. Each pyramid held up to 15,000 filled bags.

He supplied British trading companies like UAC and GB Ollivant.

In 1929, Alhassan Dantata opened an account with British Bank of West Africa — now First Bank — in Kano, Nigeria, with 20 camel-loads of silver coins.

His great-grandson, Aliko Dangote, is the World’s Richest Black Man.

According to an account shared on online, bandits entered a community in Bayelsa State, Nigeria to carry out a kidnapping.

They were intercepted by local youths who rounded them up "like poultry chickens". The youths reportedly gave them phones to call their families for ransom.

Reports say the youths were demanding 50 million naira each for the 6 of them.

"Aura for aura," the report says. Interesting!
