Which is your favorite??

Have you ever been in that phase where words seem so inadequate?

Here are 7 ways to pray on such days:

1. Pray with the psalms: The Psalms can teach us how to lament and pour out our heart to God. Try it. Start with Psalm 10 or 80. Read it aloud slowly, several times. Substitute the cry of your heart for the psalmist’s cry.

2. Write a letter to God
Journaling is such a powerful tool in times like this. Write your heart to God. Start with ‘Dear lord, I really don’t have words right now but …..”

3. Just sing.
Get a hymnal. Turn on your worship playlist. Just stay in his presence and sing your heart out. This is a form of prayer.

4. Pray with tears.
Sometimes our tears can go up as prayers for God to count and collect. So let it flow.

5. Agree with someone/others.
When you have no words.. one thing you can do is call up your prayer partner or someone you trust spiritually & have them pray over you.

6. Pray a breath prayer.
Sometimes when a situation takes your breath away like a kick in the gut, all you can muster is a prayer like the cry of Peter who, when he felt himself start to sink in the stormy Sea of Galilee, called out, “Lord, save me!

7. Pray in silence.
When there are no words that can express what is in your heart, you can still pray the prayer of silence. Silence often speaks louder than words ever do.

Which of these 10 resonates most with you??

I’ve heard a lot of people say “how do I know God is speaking to me?”… And I have realized that we miss out of his leading mostly because we often expect him to speak in a particular way.

Asides these 10 ways I have mentioned, God also speaks through Teachings and sermons, nature, books, music, movies, past experiences.

You just need to be sensitive to the spirit per time.

I hope this helps.

Last week in the DDK’s Intensive Leadership Discipleship Program 5.0, we started looking at Leadership Conviction, and one thing really stood out to me:

“Leadership requires vision, and whence will vision come except from hours spent in the presence of God in humble and fervent prayer?” — A.W. Tozer

Vision isn’t something we manufacture in a brainstorming session. Some things can only become clear in God’s presence. In prayer, God gives you a glimpse of what He wants you to build.

And that got me studying Nehemiah a little differently.

He didn’t rebuild Jerusalem because he had all the resources. He had clarity, prayer, preparation, and the courage to keep building when it got difficult.

Maybe that’s the real leadership blueprint: Get the vision from God. Pray. Prepare. Then build.

Sometimes all you need is a word to hold on to.. think of it as an anchor in the storm.
