Which is your favorite??
Have you ever been in that phase where words seem so inadequate?
Here are 7 ways to pray on such days:
1. Pray with the psalms: The Psalms can teach us how to lament and pour out our heart to God. Try it. Start with Psalm 10 or 80. Read it aloud slowly, several times. Substitute the cry of your heart for the psalmist’s cry.
2. Write a letter to God
Journaling is such a powerful tool in times like this. Write your heart to God. Start with ‘Dear lord, I really don’t have words right now but …..”
3. Just sing.
Get a hymnal. Turn on your worship playlist. Just stay in his presence and sing your heart out. This is a form of prayer.
4. Pray with tears.
Sometimes our tears can go up as prayers for God to count and collect. So let it flow.
5. Agree with someone/others.
When you have no words.. one thing you can do is call up your prayer partner or someone you trust spiritually & have them pray over you.
6. Pray a breath prayer.
Sometimes when a situation takes your breath away like a kick in the gut, all you can muster is a prayer like the cry of Peter who, when he felt himself start to sink in the stormy Sea of Galilee, called out, “Lord, save me!
7. Pray in silence.
When there are no words that can express what is in your heart, you can still pray the prayer of silence. Silence often speaks louder than words ever do.
