I have a 7-year-old daughter with my ex. He's married to another woman and they have 2 sons. My daughter is the spitting image of her father's mum so he doesn't joke with her. I haven't cut her hair since she was born and I naturalize it. It's so full and lengthy, that it almost touches her waistline when washed and blow-dried.
When I take her to the salon, I get lots of compliments. She always spends her weekends and vacations with her father and before she leaves, I make sure her hair is sorted because I know the stress involved in maintaining her hair and I don't want to give the other woman problems.

Last week, she left for midterm holidays and I was so caught up with work that I couldn't take her to the salon to have her hair washed and braided. I tied it in a bun and sent her like that. She came back and her hair had been cut. I was shocked. I almost collapsed. She said her stepmum cut it. Her father brought her and he was just apologizing. He said she didn't consult him before doing that and he's equally angry. I decided to call her and ask questions. Her excuse was that she was going to go to high school eventually and she'd cut her hair. She said having so much hair at her age is destructive and she did the best for my daughter and me. I blasted her seriously. I blasted her and told her I'd come to the house and deal with her so much that she'd regret knowing me. My ex kept telling me to calm down but I needed to teach that lady a lesson. I can even count the number of times I have spoken to her so I was surprised she could do that. I needed to have a one-on-one with her. I know she's a housewife and so she'd be home all the time. I went there today at around 11 am. I didn't meet anyone but their house help showed me her shop and I drove there. I didn't even greet her and started demanding answers on why she cut my daughter's hair without my permission. She instead was asking if her husband knew I was there. She was getting on my nerves and I told her if she dared me I'd deal with her. She started saying it because of this ego of mine that is the reason I'm still single and that even the child's father isn't complaining and it isn't an issue and I'm taking it too personally. No remorse, no apology, nothing.

Before she could finish, I had landed a slap on her dirty face and had floored her. The way she wasn't expecting it and I grabbed her, she fell smoothly. Even though her staff tried
separating, I was able to land some b!ows on her and I intended to drag her braids till they uprooted from the scalp.

Unfortunately, I was only able to pull two and we were separated. She got up from the floor and the first thing she could do was use a stone on my windscreen. Her staff at that point left me and I pounced on her. Awurade. I almost ki!!ed her. Then they came to separate again. I stamped on her abdomen several times so she was lying on the floor and shouting that they call her husband and police. Before leaving, I entered the shop and smashed breakable things on the floor. Her staff were just begging and I left.
She was lucky I didn't run my car inside the shop. Fóolish woman. My baby daddy just called me and is screaming. He says if not for our child, he'd have arrested me! I want to know if I went too far.

MY TRUE LIFE STORY
When I had my baby, it was one of the happiest times of my life. My mother came to stay with me to help, and I was so grateful. I thought we were bonding, and everything felt perfect.

My husband, Emeka, was caring and sweet. He took care of me and the baby, and I felt lucky to have him. But I had no idea that something was going on right under my nose.

One night, I was thirsty, so I got up to get some water. As I passed by the guest room where my mother was staying, I heard some noises. At first, I thought maybe she wasn’t feeling well. I opened the door slightly to check.

What I saw made my heart stop.

There, on the bed, was my mother with Emeka. They were laughing softly, looking so comfortable with each other.

I froze. My hands were shaking. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Finally, I pushed the door open.

“Mom? Emeka?!” I shouted.

They both jumped, their faces filled with shock.

“Wait, it’s not what you think!” my mother said quickly, trying to cover herself.

“Not what I think?” I said, my voice breaking. Tears streamed down my face. “You’re in bed with my husband, Mom! My own husband!”

Emeka tried to speak. “It’s not like that, I swear—”

“Shut up!” I screamed, my whole body shaking with anger.

The silence in the room was unbearable. My chest hurt, and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. How could they do this to me? My own mother and my husband?

I looked at my mother, the woman who was supposed to protect me. “Why?” I asked her, my voice soft but full of pain.

She looked down and couldn’t say a word.

I turned to Emeka. “You… you’re the father of my child! How could you?”

He looked away. “It… it just happened,” he mumbled.

“Both of you, get out of my house,” I said, my voice shaking but firm.

“Please, let me explain—” Emeka started.

“GET OUT!” I screamed, tears pouring down my face.

My mother tried to touch my arm. “I’m sorry,” she whispered.

“Don’t touch me,” I said coldly. “Leave.”

That night, they both left. I sat in my room, holding my baby, crying until I couldn’t cry anymore. The pain was too much to bear.

How could the two people I trusted the most betray me like this?

I remember back then when I was a banker, a colleague of mine was dating this girl that he hadn't married yet, but the girl was already pregnant!

Her parents weren't aware, he was scared of commitment but was trying to buy time since the pregnancy was still new!

Little did he know that she had told her elder sister, who was telling her to make sure this guy does right by her!

On her way to come visit this my colleague from school, the bus she entered had an accident and she d ied on the spot!

Ha! We were in the office when he was called and he kept screaming!

This is when the palava started!

Well much later, her family heard about it, he was thinking no one knew about the pregnancy and he also refused to speak, then the elder sister told her parents!

Their tradition is that he would marry that girl like that whether alive or dead!

My colleague was crying like a baby, because he was wondering how he would marry a dead woman!

He finally took their list and did everything on it!

He was also to make a cloth for her too, he made his also, cooked for the event, and he married her, while she laid lifeless!

After their trad wedding, he wanted to leave when the umunna(elders) of her community told him to carry his wife with him!

He was to finally bury her in his own village, as WIFE!

His people went nuts, they had to go look for an ambulance to move the girl!

It was something else back then!

TRUE LIFE STORY

Jane and Lilian, best friends for years, are sitting at a café, laughing and chatting about life, love, and their dreams.

Lilian: “Jane, you’re so lucky to have Joe. He’s such a great husband. You two are the perfect couple!”

Jane: “Thanks, Lilian. I’m blessed. Joe’s been wonderful, and I couldn’t ask for more. We’ve built a beautiful life together.”

But behind Lilian’s warm smile, something darker lurked—a growing envy that she couldn’t control.

[A few weeks later]

Joe arrives home late, his face tense and distracted. Jane notices something off.

Jane: “Joe, is everything okay? You’ve been distant lately.”

Joe: “Just work stress, nothing to worry about.”

But Jane felt something was wrong. The late nights, the secretive phone calls—her instincts told her that something was off.

One evening, Jane receives an anonymous message: “Your husband is cheating on you—with your best friend.” Her world shatters. She confronts Joe.

Jane: “Joe, is it true? Are you cheating on me—with Lilian?”

Joe, caught off guard, hangs his head in shame.

Joe: “Jane…I’m so sorry. It just happened. I never meant to hurt you.”

Jane’s heart breaks into a million pieces. The betrayal cuts deep, not just from her husband, but from the one person she thought would always have her back.

Jane: “You’ve destroyed everything, Joe. I can’t stay in this marriage. I’m filing for divorce.”

Despite Joe’s pleas for forgiveness, Jane’s mind was made up. The love she once felt for him had turned to ash.

Joe, now divorced, tries to piece his life back together. He decides to end things with Lilian, realizing the mistake he made. But then, a shocking discovery turns his regret into horror.

Doctor: “Joe, I’m afraid you’ve tested positive for HIV.”

Joe’s world spins. He later learns that Lilian, the woman he betrayed his wife for, had been living with the virus. The weight of his actions crushes him. Filled with regret and self-loathing, he reaches out to Jane.

Joe: “Jane…I’m sorry. I need to tell you something. Lilian infected me with HIV.”

There’s silence on the other end of the line. Jane’s voice is cold when she finally speaks.

Jane: “Joe, I don’t know what to say. You made your choices, and now you have to live with them. I hope you find peace someday.”

She hangs up, her heart heavy, but knowing she made the right decision to walk away.

"Betrayal is a bitter pill to swallow, especially when it comes from those you love and trust. But through the pain, I’ve learned to find strength within myself. Life has a way of revealing the truth, even when it’s painful. I’m moving forward, focusing on my son and myself. To anyone reading this who’s been hurt by those they trust, know that you are stronger than you think. You deserve love, respect, and honesty. Don’t ever settle for less."
