We're Hiring: Field Reporter - Video (Uyo, Akwa Ibom)
Are you a creative and curious individual with a good smartphone camera and a sharp eye for stories around you? Or do you know someone who fits that description?
A journalist/content creator is looking for a Video Field Reporter based in Uyo to help document daily life, events, and developments in Uyo and surrounding parts of Akwa Ibom State.
About the Role
This is a field-based, content-gathering role ideal for someone who enjoys exploring their environment and capturing real, unscripted moments on video.
The successful candidate will be responsible for filming short videos on a wide range of subjects — from public events and market activity to local infrastructure, food prices, weather, and street culture.
Key Responsibilities
Film daily videos (short-form or raw clips) on assigned topics
Document life across Uyo and other towns in Akwa Ibom
Cover markets, events, locations, weather events, foodstuff prices, and local developments
Submit videos promptly and in usable formats
Identify and suggest local story angles or points of interest
Work independently and consistently with minimal supervision
✅ What We’re Looking For
Must be based in Uyo (or able to move around easily within Akwa Ibom)
Owns a smartphone with a good-quality camera
Comfortable exploring and filming in public spaces
Reliable, self-motivated, and organized
Has an eye for capturing meaningful or visually engaging moments
💡 Bonus if you have:
Basic video editing skills
Strong storytelling instincts
Social media savvy
Experience conducting short on-camera interviews
💰 Compensation
Salary is negotiable and based on experiece level.
Flexible work structure (part-time or project-based to start).
