See ehn, while the protest was going on, there was just one person who never left my mind...VDM’s mother.
This whole b@ttle wasn’t just political, it wasn’t just about rights, social media, or the EFCC... it was deeply personal.
I kept picturing that moment…
A mother, walking into the bank with her son, just trying to resolve an issue with her hard-earned money.
And in a blink, her child... her own flesh and blood... is vi0lently dragged, b3aten, blindfolded like a terr0rist, and whisked away without explanation.
Right before her eyes.
Tell me, how does a mother sleep after that?
How does she eat, how does she even breathe, knowing her son is somewhere being held like a cr!minal for daring to speak truth to power?
That image would shatter any woman... but especially a mother who knows the kind of son she raised.
I couldn’t stop thinking about her. Not when I woke up. Not when I tried to rest.
I imagined her silence at home. Her prayers.
The ache in her chest that no medicine could heal.
Because no matter how loud we chanted online and offline, only one heart bore the true weight of that injvstice.
Hers.
I wish I could meet her. Just to hold her hand and say:
“Mama, your boy shook the system... and for that, they tried to silence him. But he’s a lion, and lions don’t stay caged for long. He’s coming back, stronger, bolder… and he’s still your son.”
And yes, she must’ve felt like her soul was being shredded with every hour they held him. But today, we all feel a bit of that relief with her.
Because VDM isn’t just a son to his mother anymore... he’s a voice to the voiceless, a symbol of resistance, a thr3at to their lies.
Let them know: When they touched VDM, they touched something bigger than all of us... they touched our collective rage.
And they woke it up.
We’re glad he’s back.
But let this country never forget... that somewhere in the middle of that chaos, a mother watched her world collapse in front of her eyes… and still stood strong.
For her sake, we’ll keep fighting.
For her son, we’ll never keep quiet.
