AKISCOM LAGOS IMPLODES AS FRAUDULENT ELECTION TEARS THE ASSOCIATION APART
" The election was a sham; flouted all known democratic standards" – Pat. Joseph Emmanuel (Presidential Candidate)
"It is a complete contradiction of what Akwa Ibom State represents in terms of integrity" - Prince Ubong Etuk ) Presidential Candidate)
The last may not have been heard of the “controversial” election for the new Executive Leadership of Akwa Ibom State Community in Lagos (AKISCOM). The election was held on November 18, 2023, as the election was flawed with manipulated processes which violates the association's constitution, against the outlined stipulated guidelines and regulation standards of elections in AKISCOM.
The crux of the matter included fraudulent disenfranchisement of about 42% of cleared voters by the EXCO and the General Assembly of the Association to favour a particular candidate, Dr. Edet Ambang and his Caucus by the Electoral Committee. This results have been vehemently resisted as unacceptable by some stakeholders of the organization, especially the aggrieved candidates, disenfranchised voters, their supporters, well meaning and respectable Youths and elders of the Association.
The major surprise was that the immediate past EXCO of AKISCOM led by Prince Felix Udoh ignored the Petitions submitted by two of the leading Presidential candidates, as well as that of candidates for various other positions submitted to it in prints, as well as an instituted pending court motion. Beyond this, the EXCO also ignored the Petition letter by the 137 disenfranchised voters to Swear in Dr. Edet Ambang and his Team as the new AKISCOM Leadership without setting up the Electoral Petition Review Committee as prescribed by the Association's Constitution, which is the grand norm in event of electoral disputes to examine issues raised by aggrieved parties for a balanced sense of equity and fairness
