EREDO LCDA CHAIRMAN STRENGTHENS SECURITY, PROMOTES ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION AT STAKEHOLDERS' MEETING

The Executive Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Monsuru Akinloye, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to security, environmental sustainability, and community development through a series of impactful initiatives unveiled during the Eredo LCDA Stakeholders' Meeting.

The meeting, held at the council hall, brought together traditional rulers, security operatives, community leaders, health professionals, government officials, and residents to discuss issues relating to security, environmental sanitation, public health, and sustainable development across the council area.

As part of efforts to strengthen security architecture within Eredo LCDA, Hon. Akinloye donated motorcycles to six security formations, including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Muwon Security Group, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LSNC), Eredo Security Forum, and Ilara Security Joint Task Force (JTF).

In addition, the chairman donated a patrol van to support surveillance activities and improve the operational effectiveness of security agencies in responding to emergencies and security threats across communities.
The presentation of the motorcycles and patrol van was performed by traditional rulers present at the meeting, including the Aladeshoyin of Odo-Noforija Kingdom, Oba Babatunde Ola-Ogun Ogunlaja; the Aladepekun of Odo-Egiri; the Aladegbowojo of Odo-Gbawojo; the Orijeru of Igbooye; the Alade Uraka of Poka Land; and the representative of the Alara of Ilara Kingdom.

The monarchs applauded the chairman's commitment to security and praised his administration for implementing people-oriented initiatives that continue to improve the lives of residents.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Akinloye emphasized that security remains a collective responsibility and urged residents to remain vigilant while supporting security agencies with credible information.

"Security is everyone's responsibility. Residents must remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to the appropriate authorities. We must also avoid spreading false rumours capable of creating unnecessary fear and tension within our communities," he said.

The chairman explained that the motorcycles and patrol van would significantly improve the mobility and response capacity of security personnel operating within Eredo LCDA.
He also advised landlords and property owners to exercise caution when renting out their properties.

"Landlords should not be driven solely by the desire to make money. They must know the people they are renting their houses to and properly verify their identities. We must not allow criminal elements to gain access to our communities simply because they can afford the rent," he stated.

Hon. Akinloye further urged landlords to monitor activities within their premises and avoid situations where their properties could be used for criminal activities.

Also speaking, Captain Enye stressed the need for residents to remain security conscious and avoid circulating unverified information.

"People must remain alert and security conscious at all times. However, we should always speak the truth and avoid circulating unverified information that can create panic among residents. False information can cause unnecessary tension and undermine the efforts of security agencies," he said.

Captain Enye called for stronger collaboration between residents, traditional institutions, community leaders, and security agencies in maintaining peace and security.

In another major intervention, the chairman donated hoes to 19 public primary schools across Eredo LCDA to promote environmental sanitation, regular weeding, and cleaner learning environments.

The beneficiary schools include AUD Primary School, Odo-Egiri; RCM Primary School, Odo-Mola; UPE Primary School, Iraye-Oke; Pobo Community Primary School, Poka; UPE Primary School, Imokun; LG Primary School and Government Demonstration Primary School, Noforija; RCM Primary Schools in Iragunshin and Mojoda; UPE Primary School, Odogbawojo; St. Joseph Primary School and AUD Primary School, Ibowon; UPE Primary School, Ilara; Anglican Primary School and LG Primary School, Igbooye; Ilara Model Primary School, Ilara; RCM Primary School, Igbonla; UPE Primary School, Ajegbende; and Vincent RCM Primary School, Ijih.

According to the chairman, the initiative is aimed at instilling environmental responsibility among pupils while ensuring that schools remain clean, healthy, and conducive to learning.

"A clean environment is not just about appearance; it is about health, safety, and productivity. Our children deserve to learn in surroundings that are neat, healthy, and conducive to learning," he said.
The stakeholders' meeting also featured environmental and health awareness sessions.

Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Ismailia, educated residents on proper waste management practices, warning against indiscriminate dumping of refuse and highlighting its consequences, including flooding, environmental pollution, offensive odours, and the spread of diseases such as malaria, cholera, and typhoid fever.

"Every household has a role to play in keeping our communities clean. Refuse should be properly stored in covered containers and kept safely until approved waste collectors arrive," he advised.

Speaking further, Hon. Akinloye revealed that discussions with the Lagos State Government had emphasized the need for stricter environmental compliance across local communities.

He announced the deployment of a waste collection truck that will commence operations across all wards in Eredo LCDA on a rotational basis to improve refuse evacuation and environmental cleanliness.

"The waste collection vehicle will move across all wards in Eredo LCDA on a rotational and weekly basis. This initiative is intended to ensure proper waste evacuation, cleaner streets, and healthier communities," he stated.

The chairman also warned that indiscriminate refuse disposal has become a serious offence and noted that offenders could face fines of up to ₦100,000 for environmental violations.

The Apex Nurse of Eredo LCDA, Mrs. Ismail, also delivered a health talk, encouraging residents to adopt healthy lifestyles through balanced nutrition, regular exercise, personal hygiene, adequate hydration, and routine medical check-ups.

"Good health is one of our greatest assets. By maintaining healthy habits and paying attention to our well-being, we can prevent many diseases and live more productive lives," she said.

The meeting concluded with stakeholders commending the chairman for his proactive leadership and reaffirming their commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing security, environmental sanitation, public health, and sustainable development across Eredo LCDA.

IJAODOLA DECLARES FOR LAGOS ASSEMBLY, SEEKS SUPPORT OF PARTY LEADERS, TRADITIONAL RULERS

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Epe, Hon. Babatunde Fatai Ijaodola, has officially declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Epe Constituency I, calling for inclusiveness and continuity in community development.

Hon. Ijaodola, son of the late Alhaji Ijaodola, a respected political figure known for his contributions to the growth and progress of Epe, made his declaration amid growing political conversations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on his aspiration, Ijaodola acknowledged the efforts of the current lawmaker, Hon. Mustain Abiodun Tobun, commending his performance over the years.

"Hon. Tobun has tried a lot and has represented Epe very well. He has served for four terms and has contributed significantly to the development of our constituency," he stated.
He, however, emphasized the need for political inclusiveness and the opportunity for other capable individuals to contribute their quota to the development of the community.

"Leadership should give room for others to serve. If one person continues without giving others the chance, people may not know that there are other individuals who can also perform and bring new ideas," he added.
Hon. Ijaodola noted that his aspiration is driven by a strong desire to sustain and expand the developmental strides already achieved, while introducing fresh perspectives that will further uplift the people of Epe. He pledged to focus on youth empowerment, education, infrastructural growth, and community welfare if given the mandate.

Reflecting on his background, he highlighted the legacy of his late father, whose political and social contributions remain a reference point in the community. According to him, his ambition is not only personal but also a continuation of a legacy of service and commitment to the people.
"My father gave his best to this community. I am stepping forward to ensure that his legacy of service does not fade away but continues to impact lives positively," he said.

He appealed to key stakeholders within the APC and traditional institutions to support his aspiration, particularly the APC Apex Leader, Alhaji Akanni Seriki Bamu, and the revered monarch of Epe Kingdom, HRM Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun.

"I humbly appeal to our leaders and fathers in the land to support me. For the sake of the role my father played in the development of Epe, his name should not be allowed to go in vain," he pleaded.
Hon. Ijaodola further assured party members and residents that his ambition is rooted in unity and progress, stressing that he remains committed to the ideals of the APC and the collective growth of Epe.

"This is not about division but about development. Together, we can build on what has been achieved and take Epe to greater heights," he concluded.
His declaration adds a new dimension to the political landscape in Epe Constituency I, as stakeholders and aspirants begin to position themselves ahead of the forthcoming electoral cycle.
