The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has announced modifications to the Church’s marriage rules, clarifying that they are not scriptural but administrative guidelines.


Speaking during the 2025 Global Family and Marriage Conference on Sunday, August 31, Kumuyi said the rule that banned a lady from visiting a man she intended to marry had been cancelled.


He said that intending couples may now visit each other during courtship, provided an elder accompanies them.


Pastor Kumuyi also stated that the six-month mandatory courtship period introduced by the church is no longer compulsory, emphasising that it was a human arrangement, not a biblical command.

“We just felt you need some time to know one another. And then we said one month will be too short, two months too short. So, why not six months? But it is not from the Bible,” he said.


Kumuyi said it is important for Christians to differentiate between God’s commandments and church traditions. He also warned against treating human regulations as divine.

“As a Christian, you need to be so mature that you know the difference between the law of God and the principles in the church. Six months is all right, but it’s not something inflexible. If we change it to three months, we’re not changing the Bible, because six months is not in the Bible,” he said.


He further explained that the church’s marriage committees were created only to provide guidance and not to replace biblical authority.

“There’s no marriage committee in the New Testament. We created it to help you, not because we can give you a chapter and a verse. It is church administration,” he said.


Kumuyi cautioned leaders against overstepping their limits, warning that marriage committees should not exercise authority beyond what is written in the scriptures.

BREAKING: Finland court sentences IPOB leader Simon Ekpa to six years in prison over terrorism crimes

A District Court in Finland has sentenced the self-proclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra Government in Exile, Simon Ekpa, to six years in prison for terrorism-related crimes.

The court found Ekpa guilty of inciting terrorism and participating in the activities of a terrorist group.

According to YLE, a Finnish newspaper, the court said Ekpa had used his “significant social media following” to stoke tensions in Nigeria’s south-east region between August 2021 and November 2024.

In a unanimous ruling, the three-member panel of judges also stated that Ekpa was an influential member of a militant separatist movement whose goal was to actualise the formation of a Biafra state from Nigeria.

The district court also noted that Ekpa had supplied certain groups with weapons, explosives, and ammunition “through his network of contacts in the region, and he was also found to have encouraged his followers on social media platform X to commit crimes in Nigeria”.

The Finnish court also convicted Ekpa of aggravated tax fraud and violating the provisions of the Attorneys Act.

Ekpa was arrested by Finnish authorities on 21 November 2024, following an investigation by the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) into allegations of inciting terrorism and promoting violence through social media, activity that was believed to have contributed to unrest in southeastern Nigeria.

Following his arrest, Ekpa was remanded in custody by the Päijät-Häme District Court, which determined that the charge was based on “public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent”, alleged offenses dating from August 2021 to November 2024.

During this period, the NBI also froze Ekpa’s assets, as well as those of his associates and related companies

Nigerian Monarch finally lands in U.S prison over fr♤ud

The Apetu of Ipetumodu in Osun State, Oba Joseph Oloyede, has been sentenced to 56 months (over four years) in prison in the United States for COVID-19 loan fr♤ud.

Oloyede, 62, who is both a Nigerian and U.S. citizen living in Medina, Ohio, was sentenced on August 26 by U.S. District Judge Christopher A. Boyko. He will also serve three years of supervised release and repay $4.4 million.

The court ordered him to forfeit his Medina home and nearly $100,000 investigators had seized from the scheme.

According to prosecutors, Oloyede and his partner, Edward Oluwasanmi, conspir€d between April 2020 and February 2022 to cheat U.S. COVID-19 loan programs meant for struggling businesses.

Using six companies, Oloyede submitted f♤ke applications and diverted the funds for personal use. In June 2020 alone, he obtained more than $100,000 for four companies. Later in October 2021, he secured two separate $500,000 loans for other firms.

Investigators also revealed that Oloyede, an accountant, helped others file false applications and took a cut from the loans they received.

Hello I am a serving Corp member here in kebbi state, one day I visited an orphanage within the vicinity and I met this young boy named uzochukwu, he is a Christian, he is four years old, he was k¡dnapped and resold, the policemen caught the k¡dnappers, took them to court and kept all the children in a Muslim based orphanage home. Uzochukwu speaks igbo fluently and he said he's from St Teresa nursery and primary school 33 nmafam ( he is not sure if the school is at enugu or onitsha) he is in nursery 2. Please you can help uzochukwu to reunite with his family by rebroadcasting this message to anyone who lives in enugu or onitsha or someone who knows the school.
